We would like to thank management for addressing our review. They were accommodating and switched our room. We were placed in another room that met our expectations. The new room was spacious, clean and with a window air conditioner unit that was quiet plus did not take up room space. I understand the resort had extremely limited availability. Yet they did make sure to address our needs by that evening. So I would like to update my review. The rooms are definitely below par. They are extremely small and outdated. The bathroom is unbelievably outdated and tiny. You hear the conversations of the rooms next to you along with all the noise in the hall. The rooms are far from the Main office. You are on the outskirts of Mackinac Island and must taxi to go anywhere. The Mission Point Resort is overpriced. You are paying resort prices for Motel 6 quality. read more

They had us stay at straits lodge which is a total dump. I'm not sure why they want to charge mission point prices for this place. They have portable a/c units in the room, they are very loud. No AC in the hallways so the 3rd floor was muggy and humid. The bathroom was gross with a stained ceiling, a horrible shower head with no pressure and water filling up the tub while it's running. The toilet was crooked and slanted, the wallpaper was peeling. The room itself wasn't luxury at all, it felt like a motel 8. The pool was also a big joke. We were excited to get in and saw the size and the environment and felt like it was gross. The foods options were lame, the concrete around the building was broken and in need of repair. The elevator was old and slow, it needed paint. lol. It's not worth the money, they need to reduce the price a lot or redo the lodge. Gross. read more

We stayed here recently with two couples and two dogs. This is the only pet-friendly hotel on the island that we found. Very expensive rooms, but everything on the island is expensive. It is a bit of a trek over there from the ship crossings, but they handle the baggage, so you just need to walk down there. This is actually a resort, not just a hotel - but we didn't take advantage of a lot of that. I will say, it was a little trek between Main and Straight lodges for our group, since we had to be in Straights with the dogs, but otherwise we really enjoyed it. The pizza place in the main lodge was GREAT - really surprising. Staff was sooo nice to both us and our pups throughout our visit. Nice little store with ice cream and alcoholic drinks to supplement the ice cream. Seems a lot of reviews focused on the cost, which was high, but unfortunately that's just the market on this island. We really enjoyed our stay here - and it was a huge perk to be able to have our pups with us. read more

The rooms are very tiny and outdated. It's like you walk through the resort property thinking it's going to be beautiful and you get your room and it's like I was in a different place. We come to Mackinac and usually stay at the Harbor view or some bigger places and on a whim we came for one night. This was not worth the money read more

I'm not sure owners Nick and Liz Ware have ever stayed at their establishment or they would know what a disaster it is. Let's get into it. And remember throughout this review, the room costs $900 per night!!! This place is not a luxury resort as advertised and our "suite" was nothing more than a pretty run down Motel Six room. The check-in process is fairly complicated and throughout our stay the staff acted like they were gatekeeping information and it was a bother to provide information on check in or check out procedures. Our room #2380 was located in the Straights Building and was about a 1/8 mile uphill walk from the front desk. This caused mobility issues for my friends elderly mother in which the hotel provided no help. The room itself was an absolute disaster at about 100 ft.². For $900 a night you get three beds and one chair. When we asked for two additional chairs we were provided two folding chairs. The room itself is very dated and dirty. The tv remote was broken and the bathtub did not drain which required two maintenance men one hour to fix. There are two very noisy window air conditioner units, which will keep you up all night. We had two dogs with us so booked the "luxury "dog package, which is a total scam. It is an extra $200 per night for which they provide a plastic dog bowl. They advertise that they provide dog sitting, but when we asked about this they said to go on the Rover app and book it with a stranger. No thank you. Mission Point Resort tries to pass itself off as old school luxury. In actuality, it is just rundown, dirty and grimy for $900 a night. At this point the only fix for such a dilapidated facility would be to shut it down for several years and do a complete remodel and rehabilitation. We were very disappointed with our stay and would not recommend this establishment. read more

One of the few dog friendly places on the island. Yes, the rooms are dates and need some TLC but it's a historical building and it's on an island so you should give it some leeway. Staff is very friendly and efficient. The process to check in luggage at the dock in the city and then they show up in your room was seamless. From the dock to the porters, it's down to a science. Two of the three restaurants allow dogs on the patio, so again - a major win for them. It is on the pricier side BUT you need to weight the pros and cons and we'll always choose Mission Point Resort. read more

We had super high hopes for this expensive resort. The rooms would be what you would expect from an older resort and were comfortable. Some of the amenities and staff could use some dramatic improvements. What we liked: the lobby bar, the round table bar, the area away from the fudgies (people to come to Mackinac Island, and eat fudge or sample a lot of fudge). They do have some unique cocktails. Some of the bartenders in lobby bar and the round table bar were really sweet and very helpful. What we didn't like: the pool area is a terrible layout and many spots are very uneven, making it difficult for guests to navigate, especially if the pool area is wet. The coffee shop absolutely sucks. They have no idea how to make an Americana. We also got some moldy hummus (it was taken off our bill, but was never replaced). Also lock your bikes up in their secure storage otherwise stuff will get stolen off your bikes. They don't have good cameras on the property either so stay at your own risk. They don't tell you about the secure bike storage either so if you stay and bring a bike ask when you check in. We ran into this issue and had my new headlight stolen off my bike. Security was absolutely worthless. Service at the bistro if your eating is very sloooooooow we had to find them. Glow ball is cool if half the stuff worked (this is the second time we played it). Not a lot of discount given if you stay. If you're paying by credit card it's 2.4% added to your bill so pay cash or add it to your room bill (which also charges 2.4% in the end) It's sad to say I have not posted very many negative reviews in all the years I've been doing reviews . This is a beautiful property which is outwardly maintained with greenery and flower. It is located in a great location with chairs on the lawn to relax and enjoy the lake view. It is an older property and some areas need more updating. The pool area and gym facilities for example (gym is an antiquated with old equipment). I really enjoyed some of the offerings such as sunrise hike, gentle yoga, and especially history tour with Pat. With the high "resort fee" all should be included for guests. There should also be free coffee stations available and water refill stations. I paid $8.24 for a latter which is ridiculous. Most resorts I have stayed in offer free coffee, tea, and water at least. The restaurants are pleasant and have nice views. The coffee and breakfast options at the Straits is slow and not very good (and overpriced). It's a better option to go to Boxwood. The resort staff (check in, bell hops, concierge) were very friendly and helpful. The luggage staff are awesome and very helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay and with a few minor changes could make it more value driven for clients. In the future some areas will need major updating to continue. read more

Room was about a quarter mile from the check in as were the restaurants. My expensive room had a view of construction ( they called it the city view and they refused to move me when I complained. They also lost my luggage after it came over from the ferry ( later found it). They are trying to be a luxury hotel but it's all a facade. Look elsewhere. read more

Staff needs to take a lesson in hospitality. The front desk staff was not helpful in detailing how to get to the room for first time guests. Small outdated furniture in the room that were very small. Beautiful area on the island but way too much money and trouble if you're there to relax. Rude horse wagon driver to get their but pleasant older gentlemen taking us back to the boat to leave. This Resort is Amazing! We celebrated our 20th Anniversary in the Tranquility suite #1126! The room was 800 square feet it had three large French doors that oped to Lake Huron. The King bed was comfy. The wet bar and luxury bathroom was great! We can't say enough about how friendly the staff was. The restaurants were excellent. I had the best steak of my life there. It melted in my mouth. The coffee shop was great! The resort is walking distance to Uptown shops. They have a movie theater where the movie Somewhere in Time was filmed. We got to watch the movie Somewhere in Time in the same place it was filmed. That was Amazing to us! The private history tour of Mission Point Resort was excellent. We will definitely be back! Thank you Mission Point! Our room was amazing to open our French doors and see and hear Lake Huron. It actually sounded like an ocean. read more

There is a lot to like about Mission Point and a lot that could be improved. On the plus side, the location on the point is wonderful for watching the sunrise and for long walks on the expansive grounds with a nice gazebo, adirondack chairs, and gardens. They offer a lot of activities (I enjoyed the birdwatching), and there's a game room for kids plus live shows for adults. And it's dog-friendly, with an added fee. Cons: everything is pretty dated. The pet wing lacks charm and is an endless row of rooms with a garden view or no view. The food at the Round House is not up to par with what you would expect on the island. The rooms can be loud--we had someone above us and could hear every step. The bathrooms are small and could use more cabinet and shelf space. With taxes, the room averaged more than $400/night so not a great value for the money. I would stay at an inn or AirBnB next time. read more

This place wants to be a fancy resort and hotel; but you're doing Budweiser experience on a champagne budget. It's settled on a beautiful bit of property with a lot of amenities. The staff were some of the most amiable and helpful I've ever experienced. But the facilities themselves were subpar. The historic buildings aren't air conditioned, so many of the hallways were roasting, even in mild summer weather. Our room had an in-room air conditioner that was problematically loud, and didn't fully cool the room. Paint was peeling in the bathroom; and fixtures had fallen off. Water pressure in the in-room sink was anemic. We had one of two lights connected to the light switch start to go, and when the electrician showed up to replace the fluorescent, he said he'd have to replace the whole unit--fixture and all--because of how it was installed; so we consequently spent a lot of time with no primary lighting in our room. Pool is nice but small; but oddly the mens room adjacent to the pool is open to the hallway and two womens rooms, making it an odd place to change or use the facilities. Overall, it's a nice enough place; but it's showing age it hasn't earned, and is trying to cater to a higher class of clientele than it can sustain. read more

First, a heads up! Room keys open more than one room!! Very embarrassing!!!! Regarding the room. Small, room, no dresser for clothes, just a closet. Bathroom had the tiniest sink I've ever had to use and no room for toiletries. No room for towel bars either. The bed has no full blanket - just a partial one that covers less than half of the bed - my guess is that this prevents people from using the air conditioner on too cold a setting. No extra blanket in the closet either. The room was relatively quiet unless someone was talking in the hall. Not a pretty room by any stretch of the imagination. People at the hotel were friendly, especially in the casual restaurant. read more

My last few times at Mackinac Island we've stopped at Mission Point for bike rentals. You don't need to be a guest to rent from them and they always seem to be the cheapest around. Staff are always friendly and bikes are well maintained. read more

I'm not sure where to start but 90% of the problem is the rooms extremely expensive I got taken for over $1900 for three nights. The rooms were atrocious. They were dirty old furniture. No space to move about the ceiling fan was in terrible condition, I was afraid to use it, some mold in the bathroom shower, the sinks were actually in the bedrooms in front of the beds, both sink tops were cracked and broken, the air conditioner in the window made so much noise We could not sleep everything about these rooms seem like it was still from 1950. I would never go back even if it was free it ruined our whole vacation. read more

I'm shocked this resort doesn't have more stars. My friends and I stayed here and absolutely loved it . It's a super old building so yes the walls are thin and the floors squeak but it's a gorgeous resort . We had the Fall Package and had a food credit each day, they took our bags right to our room and back to the ferry , the staff was great especially Basil and Julia . Basil would be the reason we would go back and stay there . The grounds are gorgeous ! The rooms are super cute ! We had one bad dinner , our waiter was rude af and we did tell the front desk. They didn't comp us anything which was surprising since we did spend a lot of money to stay there but that was the only downfall of our stay . read more

I have ADA needs and it was very poorly handled, staff was not properly trained, nor was ownership. The often-used quote was "This is the owner's policy". I would not recommend if you have similar needs. We found the hotel very dated in decor and in need of significant investment. What upgrades they did have were clearly done a long time ago, our room was cramped and had a very loud AC unit in the window, it also took up a lot of window space. The closet was massive and a poor use of space when the sink area was dinky. Overall as we said the room was dated, very dated and it was quaint at one time, it is now worn and not very well maintained. Finding your room is a maze and rather frustrating, the layout seems to be a series of additions over the years, rather poorly considered but the thirst for money is strong here. For example, our room looked out onto the bottom of a cliff, so literally a stone wall. Fair enough you cannot change that but you can use landscaping and other means to hide all the infrastructure. Signage to find your room is rather inconsistently planned, though I am sure that must be a struggle for them given the maze they have created. That is a problem that they need to address, the last thing anyone wants is getting lost when all you want is to get a cup of coffee or to get outside. Frustrating. There is one elevator and its a tiny dirty tucked in a corner sort of experience. You should be aware that this hotel is as far as you can get from the downtown area, a solid 15-minute walk, calling a horse taxi is possible but that is not cheap or fast. There were two areas that did impress and it is because of the workforce. Housekeeping was awesome and helpful making some navigation suggestions that really helped. Also, the bell service arranged for getting your luggage to and from the ferry was flawless, very smooth, and easy. The staff is great in these areas. I will not be staying at this hotel again, it was expensive, and had very little to justify the cost since it was so old and poorly maintained. read more

Beautiful location. We had a nice view from our room. The resort is a short walk from downtown. I would say it took us 5 to 8 minutes to walk the distance. You can take a horse carriage ride for $8.50 per person. There are places to rent bikes all over downtown, but we found the best prices at Mission Point Resort, right on the property. We rented multi speed adult bikes for 24 hours. We used them for two days. The bikes were very comfortable and we had absolutely no problems with them. We probably rode 17 miles in the two days. We ate breakfast every morning at the resort restaurant. I can recommend the salmon bowl, and the vegetarian omelette, I asked for whole eggs instead of egg whites and they easily complied. The blueberry pancakes were also excellent, served with bacon and PURE maple syrup. read more

We loved loved loved our stay at Mission Point Resort! This was our first time on Mackinac Island, and I think part of the reason why we had such a great trip was because we stayed at Mission Point. First, I loved that the hotel is located so far away from the downtown area of the island. It takes a bit to get to the hotel from the ferry dock if you're walking (but you could also opt to take a carriage ride and get there faster). But because it's away from the busy downtown area, we felt like we had more privacy and saw fewer people milling about. Second, there's a resident dog at Mission Point Resort! Nick the Dog is the resort's unofficial mascot. This good boy greets people and sits for head pats at the lobby of the hotel. The hotel is also very close to the beachy, rocky part of the island, so we were able to hop on bikes and quickly ride to a spot where we could play by the water. Mission Point also has the iconic white Adirondack chairs sitting out on the lawn, where you can relax and enjoy the island view. My kids also really liked that there is a mini golf course on the property. It's just steps away from a restaurant that's also a part of Mission Point. One afternoon, we played a round of miniature golf and then got takeout sandwiches at the restaurant, and ate on the big hill outside of the hotel. It was such a chill way to spend a couple of hours. The hotel rooms at Mission Point are nice, and they were very clean when we visited. The beds were comfy, too. In the halls, there are little reading nooks with big chairs and bookshelves of books for your reading pleasure. This resort is unusual in that they have an actual theatre on the property. On certain days, they'll have movie showings. We weren't around to catch a film, but we did walk around and check out the movie theatre. I will definitely come back to Mission Point Resort the next time we're on Mackinac Island! read more

Over all-n-all, if you spend more than three nights on Mackinac Island, this is your go-to. The multiple restaurants with GREAT food, the rentals, the spa, etc etc, make this a ideal location. But there are some glitches you need to be aware of and if you can accept, then you are good to go. When we where on the way to the island, received text check in at 4pm. Got there at 4pm, room not ready, but did a "soft checkin". Waited another 30 minutes before getting call, room ready! But had to wait in line again (conceierge directed us) and after 20 more minutes got our room. Understand the wait, but MP could have stepped up and said "here's a token, please wait at one of our THREE bars on us". Rooms are older, but nice. Wish they had wall mounted AC units instead of portable units, as the noise would have been less. We were in building two (HUGE) and was lucky our room was on the side that had the guest elevator. (shrugs) Those minor things aside, again, if i was going to stay on the island, MP is the best choice imho. Staff was great, amenities were top-shelf and the grounds around the resort make this an attraction as good as "The Grand". read more

Her personality is one in a million, and she left such a lasting impression that we kept returning and specifically requested her each time. She made each meal enjoyable and she was incredibly patient with all our questions. The management was equally spectacular, checking in to ensure we had everything we needed. Mission Point became our go to destination because of the exceptional hospitality and kindness from Catrine, the restaurant management, the front desk staff, and everyone else. Built in the 1950s this is a charming hotel with Mackinac Island vibes. The grounds were beautiful in May with tons of Tullips in bloom. There were about 5 lit fireplaces in the lobby area and places to sit and visit. I mention this because 3 guests set up 'camp' right outside our room and proceeded to drink and talk for hours. Even after we openend our door and told them we could hear their conversation as if they were inside our room, they still stayed for a while before leaving. So, the take away is, the walls are thin. If you want to 'visit' with friends, do it in the lobby area. But the beds were comfortable, the shower had hot water on demand with good water pressure. Room had a mini frig, microwave, clock with electronic charging outlet built in, wall mounted TV and A/C units. Getting luggage to and from the ferry/resort was pretty smooth (except when we called the morning of departure nobody answered at the bell desk so we brought our own luggage down). The Round Island Restaurant menu needs to describe ALL their ingredients as we are Lactose intolerant and one of our entree (fish) selection had a cream sauce all over it that was not mentioned in the description. Staff was friendly at checkin and checkout. Janika was helpful with suggestions and the concierge desk. Basil and the host over at the putting green restaurant were super friendly. Basil even remembered our names and took good care of us for lunch. I'm glad the resort is far enough away from the busy downtown area and far enough so we did not hear the taps and reveille every day at the Fort. Overall it was a good resort. The rooms were on the pricey side and that was before the busy season prices kicked in after Memorial day. But we are glad we stayed here and would recommend it to others. read more

The room was really nice. It was very modern very updated. The room was very nice and toasty. The beds were very clean and very white. Our room was a long long walk from the lobby. I really like the hotel restaurant. It's really nice and pretty With excellent food. It has lovely views of from the hotel grounds. The pool wasn't open because it was too cold. We generally enjoyed our stay but the walls (and floors) are paper thin so you could hear conversations in the rooms next door and people walking around in the rooms above us. In addition, the concierge was not all that friendly or accommodating when we asked about making some restaurant or taxi reservations so we ended up doing most of that ourselves. Finally, there is no in room controls for the heat so the room was often very warm and we ended up opening the windows a crack to moderate the temperature. read more

DO NOT book the "Romance Package." We came here for what we presumed would be a romantic weekend getaway, but our experience has been far from enjoyable. At almost $1,000 per night, we were hoping for a seamless check-in and a polite staff. We were horribly mistaken: "Umutai" at the front desk was cold, incompetent, and downright rude. First, the check-in process took nearly 20 minutes--we figured we would have a king-sized bed, not two doubles, with the romance package. That would make sense, right? Umutai informed us that they only had the double available for two nights, but we could upgrade to a junior suite for one night for an extra $150. Awesome, right? We accepted, but then Umutai told us for the "Romance Package," it would actually be an extra $600. As shown in the photo, the "Romance Package" is literally a couple crackers, some cheese, and a $2.99 bottle of white wine (we asked for red). We couldn't be more disappointed in our experience. I'm currently looking up other hotels in the area or maybe a bed and breakfast for tomorrow night, because this is a joke. read more

It was our second stay at Mission Point and once again it did not disappoint! The staff are wonderful, rooms clean and super comfy and food scrumptious. We came with the whole family and had 2 suites in the Straits right next to each other and adjacent to a wonderful sitting area that we used to gather (like a private living room!). While the bathroom in the suite was tiny, we made do! I liked the suites but love the ambience of the rooms in the main lodge. Probably will stay there next time! read more

I stayed here years ago and decided to stay here again. While the customer service is pretty good the rooms and windows could definitely use some updates. In addition the hotel is a bit away from the shops and restaurants west of the island which would be okay IF you were waking up to spectacular views of the water - not the case. Next time I will def stay in one of the boutique hotels off or near Main Street. Coolest part of the hotel were the white lawn chairs off the water but you can still access them if you aren't a hotel guest so no incentive to stay at Mission Point. So much to do here, we came in early June during Lilac Festival, our stay at the hotel was great but King Suite is not suitable 5 adults - as stated- we enjoyed the 2 rooms with our group by adding a roll-away that we pushed into the closet. A bit of a rough start; it was the beginning of the season. Pro: beautiful streets are easy to tour at season start; Con: cool-cold temperatures and not all the gorgeous plantings are complete Why 5 stars rating? We had a lovely stay at Mission Point. It was a great resort for kids and easy to walk to downtown. Wilder was our favorite server and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is in desperate need of repair-peeling/chopping paint cut my toddlers leg. Otherwise, everything was good. We stayed on the 3rd floor of the straits lodge and it was quiet. I read several reviews and I must say I'm shocked, the experience was exceptional...and I call it an experience because it was more than a stay at a hotel...it was an event, from the room that was plenty big and up to date, to the staff that was attentive and caring! Every part of the stay was a pleasant experience...the grounds were a walk in time and trip to a simpler place in history, but a good comfortable trip not a "dated" trip...maybe I'm just nostalgic and believe in a place where people should interact with their neighbors, and I felt this sense of community during my stay! Woof. What an AWFUL time we had at Mission Point Resort this year. My family and I visit the island once a year. We've stayed at many places across the island but have stayed at Mission Point the last three years. This year was absolutely horrible. We stayed in the "newer" Straights lodge. We started off our vacation with a broken sofa in our room. We didn't complain because we figured it's a small issue. So we spent all of our time in the bedroom. Throughout the vacation, the food at every spot was awful. From soggy sandwiches, old baked goods, and old restaurant food-we didn't have a good meal at Mission Point the entire stay. I can deal with bad food and a broken sofa. But the noise from the neighbors-that was the final straw. We had a family above us and we could hear all of their movements. I didn't sleep well the entire time we stayed. There is no peace and quiet here based on the room you are given. I can hear their conversations, their jumping - basically everything. We paid extra for a hot tub suite with a separate living space (with the broken sofa) and a bedroom. I'm horribly disappointed in my experience here. I'm looking forward to taking a multi-year break from vacationing in the island. The island is nice-I just wish there was anywhere quality to stay. It's like the hotels/bnbs here know that they don't have to try. It's really too bad. If you take nothing else from my review, please take this: don't eat the food at mission point, including the restaurant. - I read other reviews and wanted to mention this as well: this hotel uses real, metal keys. I would never stay here as a woman without my family. They clearly are unconcerned with how unsafe that is. There are also no doors on the closets-just curtains. We stayed at the Mission Point Resort after buying a Groupon with a friend. The summer dates were all taken so we decided to get an early jump on the season. I'm so glad we did because even though it was cool outside, it was a very quiet and peaceful visit. This was literally their opening weekend and many of the employees were on the job for the first time, some had never even been in the country before!! So we had to be a bit patient and tolerant, but they tried their best to accommodate all of our needs. We got a room in the main lodge even though the Groupon said we would be in the Straits Lodge. I'm not sure if the Straits lodge was open yet. The room was a bit warm and you can't control the temperature, so we had to open the window and turn on the ceiling fan to cool it down. The beds were very comfortable and each came with four pillows. I've read other reviews about the rooms being small, but it seemed fine to me. The bathroom was large and the water was hot in the sink and tub - so what the hey!!!! The WiFi worked surprisingly great. We were able to rent bicycles right at the hotel and for 2 adult bikes with 7 speeds for 3-1/2 hours it cost us $52. They added a basket on the front that I was able to put my purse in. We got the breakfast buffet for $15.95 one of the days. It had an omelette bar where they made them exactly how you wanted them. I love omelettes so that did it for me. For a small fee of $5.50 you can get a horse taxi to the ferry, and they take care of the luggage for about $12.00. It was very convenient and since I was in the mood to be pampered I didn't think the fee bother me. Everything about this island is unique and nostalgic. I think a solid 3 is a fair score here. You don't come to the island to stay in the hotel room. On a positive note, the beds were comfortable and the room was fairly clean. We used Shepler's Ferry to travel from Mackinac City. The staff of the ferry company and MP did a great job coordinating luggage to and from. Delivered it right to the room and picked up from room when checking out. We went straight to the ferry and luggage followed along. No delays or waiting on luggage. There are some restaurants on the property where kids eat free too. All staff members were kind and friendly throughout. There is also a spa on the property. My wife got a massage and said it was the highlight of the trip. Highly recommend signing up for one online. Easy to book. And frankly, for a massage, reasonably priced. On a negative note, the building is old (obviously). Outdated and dirty in spots. Our drain in the shower clogged twice - but MP did assist quickly and fixed it both times. The pool on the property is very small. About the size of a pool in someone's yard. The outdoor furniture is old and stained too. We only hung out by the pool for about an hour the entire time. When arriving keep in mind that carriages marked MP are not free for a lift to hotel. A family of 4 was $18 for about a half mile ride (not Including tip). Cash only. The walk is not that bad if you don't have big luggage. The lawn area was a nice place to enjoy the sun and watch boats. I liked that Straits Lodge wing of the hotel had coffee, espresso, and breakfast/lunch food too. read more

The was our first time staying at MP or on the Island. What really sold us on making thr reservations were the chairs on the lawn and how relaxing that looked. My wife spoke with MP beforehand to see how to arrange transportation to the resort and was told the MP taxi would pick us up and we didn't have to do anything. However when we got off the ferry we didn't see a MP taxi so she called again and they told her that the shuttle would be there in like 1.5 hrs. So in a frenzy trying to find a way to get ourselves and some luggage to the resort we tried getting a normal taxi and was told we had to call dispatch. Finally after waiting around for awhile we were able to get the MP taxi. That was the one and only time we took it. It was frustrating because we were trying to plan ahead and were told 2 different things at different times. The resort itself was well maintained, clean and staff was friendly. read more

Situated on the far end of downtown, the Mission Point Resort has beautiful grounds, a beautiful lawn with available seating, miniature golf, a small boutique area, bike rental, a cafe, and two restaurants. As far as Mackinac Island is concerned, you have many choices without having to leave and go downtown. Listen, don't come to Mackinac expecting luxury lodging. While the island is charming and offers a beautiful state park, every hotel on the island is a bed and breakfast style type of lodging- charming. Mission Point is a large bed and breakfast. Yes, Mission Point is outdated, but the space provided within your room is more than plenty for what one needs during a short vacation. During the Covid-19 season, you had the option to have your room cleaned (garbage taken out, bathroom cleaned), but no linen/bedroom cleaning was not available. The service is what makes the Mission Point a great option for lodging. Between the friendly service from check-in until checkout and the fact that Shepler's takes your luggage to and from the ferry, it's a no brainer for staying on the Island. read more
