This hotel is way too overpriced and under delivers. The bathroom is too small and the beds are not comfortable. The room wifi does not work which means that the TV does not work and there are no channels included, one has to pay for everything. The staff is very rude not only at this hotel but on the island as a whole. Same old breakfast everyday. The air conditioner does not work efficiently, old coil style. The whole room is old and antiquated---the room needs major renovation of decor and beds. The hotel is not worth the money....don't waste your time and money. In fact, you are better off staying off the island. This island is a tourist trap. read more

Espresso Cafe is a small coffee shop located inside the Inn on Mackinac. As you're walking down Main Street, look for the green and lavender house, and a little sign that might be hidden in the flower bushes that says Espresso Cafe. You'll find the coffee shop immediately to the left when you enter through the main hotel entrance. It doesn't look like much -- just a counter and menu -- but they serve all varieties of coffee drinks, including lattes, mochas, Americanos, macchiatos, plus hot tea and hot chocolate. They also serve just regular ol' black coffee, but I didn't like it because it tasted burned. I think your best bet here is to get a fun coffee drink or hot chocolate, which comes with whipped cream. There are a few tables in the cafe at which to sit. Because this is mostly a hotel, you can sit at the cafe tables and watch people check in and check out. read more

ROOM 301 HAS CARPENTER ANTS AND BED BUGS!! Following my review from trip advisor and Google, DO NOT STAY HERE! NOT WORTH THE $$$ THEY DEMAND! THEY CHARGE OVER $500/NIGHT and the wifi service was basically airport wii. It is labeled as a bed and breakfast in the state of Michigan, also on the Island as well. I have worked in nursing homes for YEARS and never would I ever give my residents the same thing over and over again daily for breakfast. Every day when we stayed here we were met with the same spread: boiled eggs because having eggs more than one way is just too costly, fruit was set out and not presented nicely, milk was in cartons and the breakfast staff clearly did not care about the service they were giving. Bagels were frozen and then thawed, they had ready to eat oatmeal bowls where all you added was hot water. Our room had huge carpenter ants where we literally WOKE UP TO THEM CRAWLING ALL OVER US IN OUR BEDS We complained, and we were met with very hostile service. The only thing the management did was give the room a deep clean and when that happened the carpenter ants returned that same night. Room 311 is next to the noisest staircase in the whole building, I did follow up my stay with the better business bureau, contacted the health department as well as emailed the islands tourism bureau. Will never recommend this place to anyone and I wish the owner would stay in this bed and breakfast to see how horrible the quality is!! read more

Don't expect actual SERVICE. The hotel staff on the evenings of 27 & 28 Jun 2026 was the same young lady who may have been technically competent but didn't really understand that she is there to take care of guests. At the nightly rate charged, I expected a wee bit more than someone who could hand a plastic ice bucket liner over the counter, but that was the most she was capable of. This was our first visit to Mackinac, and the Inn was arranged by our travel agent. It's a beautiful old Inn that appears to be well-kept. A nice change of pace from your typical Marriott or Hilton, etc. Our room was quite small, but it worked. We had a small balcony, which not all rooms have. Bathroom is VERY small, and the sink is outside of the bathroom area with faucets that require you to hold them in the "on" position for water to stream out. Bed was comfortable, tv had basic cable channels but not much else. Hairdryer upon request from front desk. Breakfast was a simple continental spread, cookies at dusk. The wraparound porch lends itself to relaxing, people-watching, and conversation. Within walking (or riding) distance to restaurants, shops, waterfront, and attractions. Listen, if you are going here in the peak tourist season everything will be overpriced, it's just reality right now. 4 adults split the double queen room for about $500ish and it was comfortable! We got a second story room that had direct access to side paths to the street and easy access coming from the pool (door only opens from pool area to street and not from street to pool area so you have to enter the pool area through the third floor). Location: excellent and easy. It is directly on the Main Street, about 5-10 mins walk from the ferry terminal. Staff: everyone we met was super friendly and nice. Perks: free continental breakfast! Toast, muffins, fruit, etc. and hard boiled eggs I believe. Juice, coffee and tea. They also can make espresso drinks if you ask. Hot tub! It was super nice with a little waterfall but it is WARM like 100F+. Overall a nice hotel and fairly clean. It could definitely use a good room update, the shower curtains are sad and the shower amenities are minimal (bar soap basically), and they could've given more toilet paper (we only had one roll) and towels in the room (and ran out of towels in the pool area). For the peak tourist season, it was a great choice for use and fit our one night stay of 4 adults perfectly. read more

The front desk ladies and the housekeeping were 10 times nicer to us than the supervisor. Our keys kept consistently not working, she made us change rooms and actually came to our room, sounding very annoyed asking how long we were gonna take to pack up our stuff to move into the next room. I had said around 15-20 minutes and she SIGHED??? When we checked out she didn't even say goodbye or asked how our stay went. Just said nothing to us after putting the tags on our bags. A very charming hotel which is set a few blocks away from the busiest part of downtown, which adds to the peaceful, relaxing ambiance of your stay. The building has maintained its traditional charm but at the same time is very clean. They have a very nice shaded outdoor patio space surrounded by colorful flowers, which was the perfect space to sit and sip our coffees. A pleasant surprise is that they set out cookies in the afternoon for guests! A short distance across the street, there is a very highly reviewed bike rental shop, which is where we rented our bikes from. All in all, this was the perfect place for our weekend trip to Mackinaw Island and would definitely recommend! read more

This hotel was the perfect location, just a few blocks off Main Street. We will definitely be staying again. A few perks were that we were able to arrive earlier than check in and bags were delivered to hotel and in our room upon check in. Delicious homemade cookies in the evening and a large hot tub on the rooftop that was open late. When we checked out, they gave us the option to send our bags back to Mackinac City so that we could enjoy the day on the island. Great customer service and very clean! read more

Had a really lovely time at the Inn. I came for my first visit to the island with a friend for a girls' trip. The staff is friendly and helpful (hey Garfield!). We had a great time sitting on the porch which has spectacular views of the harbor and lends to making friends with other guests. It's a short walk from downtown shopping and restaurants. The rooms and common areas are very clean and decorated in a quaint Victorian style. They offer continental breakfast and 24/7 coffee, tea, and juice which is great when you come in from a walk around town or touring the various sites. The pool is actually a large hot tub which was perfect for my aching legs after 2.5 hr bike ride. read more

PLEASE PLEASE listen to this review! Especially if you're a tourist/POC. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT GO to this place ! My family and I just wanted coffee and were in good spirits. Literally less than 2-3 minutes there AND then one of the "baristas" there told us if we weren't gonna buy anything/coffee or have not checked in then we had to leave. Mind you there was literally no one else there except for this one man and two people outside. So, I know for sure this is NOT how you handle things. We were deciding to order too. Like some of the reviews here, the employees are NOT friendly, kind, and do not even have any type of customer service etiquette. I'm glad I didn't spend any money for this overpriced BS. Anyone staying here just to relax or even get coffee should just look somewhere else unless you want unwanted discrimination/rudeness. I don't even know how this place is still up for business. What a wonderful last minute find! We feel so very fortunate that The Inn on Mackinac had a room available when we needed it. It was an exceptional experience from start to finish and we really feel justified in saying that because we had two issues pop up (one through no fault of the Inn - the ferry misplaced our luggage) but the professionalism and efficiency with which it was handled was top notch! The room and bathroom were immaculate and yes, I am the one that showed up equipped with Lysol wipes and went over everything BEFORE Covid! I'm even worse now and I couldn't find one thing to point out. The breakfast was the probably the second best we have had on this road trip across the states. The staff is super helpful and super friendly. The spa is lovely and even has a little water feature. The rooms and porch are delightful and the decor is very Victorian which seems to fit the theme of the Island. Really a stellar place. We will be back. read more

The GM, Krystin does not communicate well. She lacks professionalism one would expect from hospitality management. Our school group booked a year in advance and she did not inform us that she cancelled our reservation six months later, failing to tell us or provide any reasoning. She refuses to discuss this decision and will not return calls and emails. Our school has stayed at The Inn On Mackinac for years. Ever since the change in management, the hotel environment is not one of friendliness or professionalism. Last year, there was little kindness or respect given as a customer. It's a shame! My daughter and I stayed at the Inn over the weekend. It was a passable room but the overall was not good. I understand that everything on the island is outrageously priced. I knew I'd be paying a lot for wherever I stayed, however $1000 for 2 nights in a very small room with very old and beat up furniture and leftover hinges from a removed closet door you couldn't use is ridiculous. I have attached a picture of the bedside table for reference. Old furniture that is well care for, I'm down for it. Old furniture that's just beat to hell, not down for it. All of the furniture in the room look like this. There was a closet in the room but one of the beds was pushed so close to it you could only get to it by walking sideways. However there was a little bench shoved into it so you couldn't sideways your way into it to get to it. They had put a luggage rack in the closet but in order to put your luggage on it you would have had to put the luggage on the bed try to settle your way into it then swing around the luggage to get it on that bench. And the closet that this was in once had a door. I know this because the hinges were still on the frame. All hotel rooms in the present day have updated to include multiple outlets for electronic equipment. Not the Inn on Mackinaw. They did put in one of those extension things into the outlet that allowed you to plug in four things. But two were occupied by the lamps and one was occupied by a clock. All had to be unplugged so we could plug in our phones and my headphones. But that's enough about the room. We arrived on the island at about 11:00 and they were wonderful enough to get our luggage to the Inn. We wandered around downtown and got a drink because our check-in was 3:00. Then we wandered down to the end and arrived at about 20 minutes to 3:00. We thought sure they let us go to our room early since it was only 20 minutes, and we were paying $1,000 for two nights. No. Without even looking they said your room's not ready you can check in at 3:00. Okay rules are rules, but seriously? Fast forward to our exit day. Because of the fact that they wouldn't let us in our room until precisely 3:00 I was very concerned about getting out of there before 11:00 for fear they'd charge me for another day. Which is not an anxiety anybody needs. We asked about getting our furniture down to the dock since we wanted to spend some more time on the island. They said that they would take care of that. Told us we just needed to call a half an hour before we were getting on the ferry to let them know what ferry we were getting on. I did this. We got on our designated ferry and upon getting off the ferry discovered that our luggage wasn't there. I called them. She said, you were supposed to claim your luggage at the dock. I said, I'm sorry? She said the porter would have been there yelling in of Mackinac and you needed to claim your luggage so we could ensure that your luggage was on the same ferry as you. I said I had no idea that this was something I was supposed to have done. I said I'm pretty certain no one told me this. She said nothing. So I asked where my luggage was now. She said well they would have put it on the next ferry. Well if they wouldn't put it on the ferry that we were on because they couldn't ensure we were on it why would they then just randomly put it on the next ferry? My guess is the porter comes and yells hoping you'll claim the luggage so you can tip him. Which we would have been happy to do had anyone told me that that's what we needed to do when we got to the dock. I was very kind to them on the phone and even said thank you I will wait for my luggage to come off the next ferry but I would like to say that in the future maybe you could make sure that you tell your guests the procedure so they aren't left in the same position we have been. Her response was you have a great day and she hung up. If you're going to charge $500 a night for a room, I don't care where, it should have better than nice accommodations, better than good customer service. Especially when all you're really doing is sleeping in the damn room. In closing I would like to say, that they told us the location of their pool. So my daughter and I went up on our first evening to check it out. Don't be fooled it is not a pool. It is an oversized hot tub with a little waterfall on the end. It was nice, but it wasn't a pool. And my final note, the pictures on the wall are meant to be vintage looking and cool because the Inn is vintage looking. This is a hard review for me to write, but I feel I have no other recourse. I've been coming to this island and to this hotel specifically since I was a little girl, and have stayed here at least 10 to 15 times. Both of my children learned to walk in room 210. Two years ago, my father passed away and this year I decided to take my mother back to the island. We weren't staying in the Inn, but wanted to take her down there so she could reminisce and have some closure. Upon entering the Inn, we went back to the breakfast room to look around and my mother spoke to the night manager, who asked if we were guests. She said no, but we had been and were just looking around. The night 'supervisor' then promptly told us to leave, saying we could not be in the hallway. This seemed strange, since we were past guests and could have feasibly been looking at new hotels in which to stay. I then explained to the supervisor that my father had passed two years before and it was my mother's first year back. She looked at me, then promptly told us to leave. No condolences, no gratitude for our decades of business, just basically told us to get the hell out. I was angry, hurt and honestly a bit concerned for the hotel as a whole. If this is the way supervisors handle situations like these, I'll be surprised if they continue to keep their business. When we said we knew the owner, which we do, she snapped 'Yes, I also know the owner, I've been here five years.' Well... five years does not beat a full house, darling. We've happily supported your business for decades, and recommended you to others. That WILL NOT be happening again. Beware, Mackinac Island guests, if you choose to stay here. It's gone nothing but downhill for the past five years... Hmmmmm.... what a coincidence? Very glad we chose to stay at the Lakeview this year. The Inn was our first experience staying on the island. The amenities are what one would expect from any hotel with a few other perks. There was a cappuccino bar, complementary lemonade with cheese and crackers in the afternoon, cookies in your room after 6 pm, and a complementary breakfast buffet. The location is optimal for anyone who wants to be close to the Mackinac Island downtown area (5 min walk). There is also a small heated "spa" pool outside. The rooms are floral. If that sets you off then you'll be hard pressed to find a modern style on the Island. We had air conditioning and our own bathroom as well (which can be rare on the island). The location of the Inn is nearly the best on the Island. It is directly adjacent to all of the major attractions IE downtown, the marina, Fort Mackinac, and within close walking or riding distance for almost everything else. Do everything at the attractions (carriage rides/tours, hiking, the Fort) during the day and go downtown at night. All of the day-travelers (fudgies) leave and you can have your pick of the restaurants and shopping. All in all a good place to lay one's head and also unwind after a long day of activities. read more

We booked this hotel in January, long before there was any idea of a pandemic, and now have to cancel the reservation due to concerns about being people who are vulnerable during the pandemic. Our reservation is 6 weeks away which is more than enough notice to turn the reservation over as this seems to be a popular spot. Yet, the management informed me that it will return NONE of my $475.00 deposit. What a shocking display of greed! They cited "their policy". What policy on a pandemic was in place when we made our reservation 2 months before lockdowns started? We are frequent travelers and make all of our trip reservations for the entire year at the beginning of each year. None of the other establishments across the US that we made reservations with had any problems refunding our deposits.. This pandemic will be over some day and we will travel again, but I will never choose to stay in a place that treated me with such lack of respect. read more

I loved my experience here last weekend for the long Labour Day break. Highly underrated, Mackinaw Island should be a secret, decently-priced, off-the-grid, getaway for the millennials of MI. At the Inn we had a beautiful front corner room where we could see the entire water's edge , as well as the Main Street , where horses clatter and people ride bikes and walk along all evening. The Inn has beautiful balcony access and seating/lounge areas all around, as well as a Spa style pool that is only for adults between 9-10pm. There is Breakfast of course, as well as coffee and hot cocoa served all day. The Inn is within ten minute walk when you arrive to the island off the ferry. There is bike rental right across the street. The little downtown area of bars and restaurants are open until 2am and provide fun and entertainment with the other guests stuck on the island after the final ferry departs around 10:30pm to return to mainland. Biking the entire island inBtwn 7-15miles , including paths cutting through interesting places like the Arch Rock and the cemetery. Did I mention it's definitely a moderate price range which is so nice! I haven't visited since I was a child, there is definitely a new hideaway/relaxation vibe that I was delighted to embrace. You have the opportunity to dress fancy for a glamours dinner at the Grand Hotel or you can lay-low and lay out at British Landing Beach. Michigan is so beautiful. read more

Sadly, customer service means nothing! I made our reservation in January 2022. This would be one of many visits there. I was just informed that I would need surgery (billary oncology) on May 25, 2022. I immediately emailed the Inn on Mackinac and informed them I needed to cancel our reservation because of the surgery. Krystan the GM told me their booking policy was 14 days for cancellation and had I cancelled May 24 by 11:00pm they would refund me. I was just hours late and lost $1,800. Don't bother making reservations...they don't care...WiFi is horrible, service is horrible! GM should be fired! read more

I wrote a review on 8/19 that was a negative one because I was told by my on line booking agency, Hotels.com that my entire deposit of over $450.00 would be lost due to "the hotel policy" when I had to cancel 6 weeks ahead of my booking due to ongoing pandemic issues. It turns out that was 100% UNTRUE. Krystin, the General Manager at the Inn reached out to me to reassure me that was not the policy, and my refund is now being processed. Just far enough away from downtown to eliminate the congestion and noise, while being close enough for a comfortable walk. The outside of the hotel is beautiful. Nice big porch with a view of Main Street. The Hotel is fitted with an elevator for those who have strollers or are just not able to climb several flights of stairs. Breakfast is served every morning in a room just off of the lobby from 8 AM to 10 AM. They have sausage, eggs, country potatoes, waffles, bagels, toast, hot oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt,cereal, milk, and juice. You will not leave hungry, I promise! The only place that I was able to get good Wi-Fi was in the hotel lobby or the breakfast room. I chose my second floor hotel room based on the promise that the Wi-Fi in that room would be consistently good, it was not. Just be aware! Bicycle racks are made available just outside the second floor, on the right side of the building. During busy times, like in the evening, it is difficult to secure a space. The three ferry lines are all located in downtown Mackinac Island. We used Sheplers. The Inn has an arrangement with Sheplers to provide a porter to pick up your luggage and return it when you leave. There is no charge for this service. I am told there is an outdoor pool and hot tub but, The temperatures were only high 50s to low 60s while we were there at the end of May. It was also very windy during our stay. Also, it is important to note that during our stay, May 21-25th the air was thick with mayflies! Bring a bug mask/ guard for bike rides or you will be spitting flies. There is a little coffee and tea shop that sells fudge and cookies in the lobby. The hotel staff places warm chocolate chip cookies on your bedside table every evening. The staff was always very friendly and helpful and made our stay very pleasant. read more

Great stay. Excellent location, close to down town. It's classified as a Bed and Breakfast on the visit Mackinaw Island website. But it's more of a boutique hotel. Had a free breakfast buffet every morning and the times changed each day. Wireless Internet is found in the lobby and front room. Free cheese and crackers in the afternoon. Cappuccino bar was helpful to get a jump start on the morning. Would recommend to anyone wanting an affordable place for overnight stays while on the island. read more

Here are a few of all the nice things we experienced during our stay: -The floral wallpapers and decor. It was like staying in someone's great great grandma's place! -The 24 hr Tea/Coffee self service, add to that, the nice porch to have your tea on. -The hot-tub; it gets chilly at nights in the island. -The fact that we didn't even touch our luggage when we arrived or departed. They handle all the transports. -The beds were comfy, and the room sparkling. The only downside was that the building is old (aren't all in Mackinac?) and at nights you hear squeaks as guests climb the stairs. -The hot delicious breakfast, and the afternoon cookie deliveries! -And above all, the upgrade we got on our reservation when we called to add a 3rd night to our stay. Four stars for the location. You're not going to get a modern room with a great bathroom anywhere in the island. Accept it and your stay will be great. We stayed in room 412, it's the only room with a king bed. It's close to the front of the house, so we had a little view of the water. The bathroom wasn't great, stall shower and a pedestal sink. This B and B has an elevator. The hot tub is huge and very nice. Beds were comfortable and we never heard anybody in the rooms around us. We liked the porch for relaxing at the end of the day. Breakfast was ok, the coffee was not good however. There's a Starbucks down the street. It seemed like all the staff were just workers, not the personality you would expect in a B and B. I feel like this place would be great if they had a hostess or owner present who could converse about the island and be helpful about what to do and where to eat during your stay. The coffee bar in the lobby was really underused. There were so many people walking by the inn and looking at the gorgeous flowers in front, I'm surprised Mackinac inn hasn't done more to pull in customers for a drink and snack. read more

Not our first choice, the Inn on Mackinac turned out to be a very nice place to stay. Quaint and quiet, it had the charm and atmosphere of a bed and breakfast but not the forced intimacy, which is good for those of us who prefer a nice big chain hotel most of the time. The fudge shop in the lobby was convenient and tasty. Breakfast in the mornings was hearty and a great way to start the day, and the cheese and crackers in the afternoon and cookies in the evening were a nice touch as well. It's located just far enough away from the main strip to still be an easy walk, but away from noise and late night bar crowds. The decor wasn't my taste, and I was a little creeped out by some of the old-timey photos on the wall, but in the grand scheme those are just a matter of personal taste and no big deal. read more
