We got takeout on a Sunday night and had an overall easy time ordering over the phone since the website doesn't take online orders. Our food was ready in 15 minutes for us to pickup. We got a chicken salad sandwich, burger, shrimp tacos and the corn dog and chicken tender kids meals. Overall the food was solid. In particular the shrimp tacos had really good flavor. The shrimp tasted fresh and was really well balanced with the sauce. The kettle chips were also well spiced and not too salty. I loved the options with the kids meals for fresh fruit and vegetables, but something to note is the kids menu doesn't appear online. We have eaten in the restaurant before and there is plenty of space and has a fun aesthetic. Our only negative was they put the chips on top of everything in the to go containers, so the chips got soggy. The inside dining area was quite loud, even so, our table of seven was able to have a conversation with ease. Our wait for food after ordering was reasonable. Three of us had burgers. Mine was cooked correctly and tasted good. The kettle chips were crisp and well-seasoned. Two people ordered the citrus salad. Neither tasted any dressing, so they requested more. One person ordered a beef and cheddar sandwich, which looked good and the last person ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich. He said it was okay, but would have been better using breast meat vs a thigh and if the meat had been dipped in buffalo sauce vs, a thick sauce poured over the deep fried chicken meat. Heading up north for the weekend and this was my choice for lunch. Easy to park as it's right "downtown Nisswa. Solo dining for me and I was seated at a comfortable clean table. Very friendly staff and very attentive. Ordered a salad and the onion dip for my meal. The salad was so good! It was a panzanella and burrata salad and all items on the lettuce were so fresh. Stopped in for a quick bite and got The Mai tai pork tacos with sea salt French fries and shared an additional order of Spanish fries (they sounded so good!!) Quick update. This continues to be just about our favorite place int the area. The food remains consistently good, with unique "cheffy" takes on things you see on a lot of menus. I had the Sota Cheesesteak and it was both huge and excellent. Shaved rib eye on a hoagie roll, topped with mushrooms, Camembert sauce, caramelized onions and addicting beet sauerkraut on top. The whole thing works together really well. The thin and crispy fries that come with this really complete the package. Here's the kicker. This goes for $17. Yum! We hit this place after hiking around the state park for a few hours. It was a little early for dinner - 4:15, but we were hungry! The restaurant was mostly empty except for one other seated table. We had a couple ladies wait on us, and the service was great! We ordered the Buff and Blue burger, the Polski burger, the 'Sota Cheesesteak, and a kid's menu burger. We had fries with most, but chips with one. We all shared bites, and everything was very good! This place is BUSY during the weekend so be prepared for the wait. Once we were sat, I ordered their root beer on tap, and I didn't regret it. We ordered the Cheese Curds to start, and the chili sauce was right up my alley. Crispy bacon bits are my jam! I had a hard time deciding on my main - I wasn't sure if I wanted the Steakhouse burger or the Beer Battered Sliders. I was a little worried the Beer Battered Sliders would not be filling enough, but I went for it and they were absolutely delicious. Came here awhile ago, and got drinks and a quick bite to eat. The service was fast and great, like always. My family comes here often when we are at the cabin and we are OBSESSED with the wild rice burger! All winter I dream of my first wild rice burger of the cabin season. It means a lot to me and I don't know what I'd do if you ever got rid of it, so please never take it off the menu! The french fries are so good too, crispy and well seasoned. We went to this establishment for a 40th birthday celebration. The staff were completely unprofessional and the service was atrocious. We had a group of 10 and wanted to have a nice dinner on a weekend at dinner time. Knowing we had a large group in a small space that doesn't allow reservations a couple went 45 minutes early to ensure we could get the group a table at a reasonable dinner time. Names were put on the waiting list for the group and we were instructed we would receive a text when the table became available. After 45 minutes had past we had still not received a text and over 20 people had entered and been seated ahead of our group. There was no one on the waiting list except our group. When the staff were asked about this they said they only had 4 seat tables available. It seems common sense, but if the majority of tables seat 4 you need 2 pushed together to accommodate a group of 10, 8 on each side and one on each end in case that isn't common sense anymore. But every 4 top table that came up was filled within 5 minutes making it an impossibility to seat our group and letting others seemingly jump the wait list line simply because they had less people. The hostess clearly disgusted that we were questioning why over 20 people had been seated ahead of us begrudgingly said, "fine, I can seat 4 of you." 4 people went and sat down. 6 of us were left waiting, no communication on when the rest of the group would be sat or even if we would be sat together at this point. I saw an opportunity to talk to the hostess privately and let her know that it was really not professional that we had been waiting on a wait list watching over 20 people get sat and now having our group split up. I also mentioned 2, 4 seat tables right next to each other had become available within 5 minutes of parties leaving, but again our group was passed over for people who walked in and didn't even have to wait. The 4 people who were sitting were never brought water, menus, or drinks they simply were not serviced for the 20 minutes they sat and we stood. When they were finally able to put a round table and rectangle table together the hostess and a server came to the hostesses station and said, "your tables done." The server then started raising her voice at me in front of 5 of my guests plus people who had now entered and all the tables that were in the front she said, "do you have a problem, you're being rude and you made the hostess cry she's doing her best." I explained when I was a kid I was a hostess too and generally when you have a large group and a waitlist you try to seat in a timely and orderly manner. I asked if I could speak to the manager at that point and she screamed, "I am the manager and you should leave and the owner would say the same thing." Again when I spoke to the hostess I had made it a point to talk to the hostess privately about the situation. If she cried I don't feel responsible for simply calmly talking to her and giving her advice for the future about seating large groups. I wasn't loud, I wasn't mean and I didn't cause a scene over it. ​​ At this point we'd been in the establishment over an hour, no one had service and now the staff was publicly reprimading us. Happy to take my business to an establishment whose primary function is food customer service, where they actually want to service patrons in a fair and respectful manner. Would give them zero stars if it was possible. Happy to publicly share this experience if it will save future patrons the public shaming and disgraceful treatment. Unfortunately, it ruined our whole event. I hope no one else ever has to experience this. We will never get that day with friends back and it's an absolute shame that if that dark haired small build woman is the manager that the owner would allow her to treat customers that way. I've seen similar reviews to this so it also doesn't seem like an isolated event unfortunately. I also want to say, I fully understand people having bad days in customer service, but this was beyond that. When you are supposedly the manager and willing to yell at patrons in front of a full restaurant of people dining over what a rational person would have considered respectful feedback on something that could be improved that's not normal. Won't be back and I doubt any of the people who were with us that day would return either. All locals who have been to the establishment a decent amount of times. We come here every year when we visit Gull Lake. They always have a new menu, so do not get too excited about any one thing you see on the photo menus, but do know that whatever you get, it will be great! The menu changes locally and seasonally, so it is always fresh and new. We are from the cities and love the variety of cuisines this place offers. Not the typical American bar food of the area. The staff are always so friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and classy. Our server was Treff, whowas amazing and has been there 5 years. We hope to see her next year. read more

We've been going to this restaurant for years because it has always had great food and service. Tonight we went for my husband's 80th birthday. It was a mess. If it weren't for the bartender's overachievement, it would have been a disaster. The bartender, Colton, was responsible for the entire bar, the tables around the bar and bussing the tables. He did a great job but the entire place was nonfunctional. There were tables in the restaurant not cleared for at least half an hour, my order wasn't correct, the host was on his phone when tables are needed clearing. Colton couldn't do it all. My SIL and I stopped here needing hydration after a long massage at a local resort. The bad news was we ended up drinking hard ciders; the good news was that the food was amazing and the service even better. They had plenty of outdoor tables and the umbrellas kept us sheltered from the sun and the occasional sprinkling that tends to roll through this area of Minnesota. I can't say enough about the ham and pickle cream cheese dip. We literally scraped the tiny cast-iron pan clean with the yummy pieces of naan bread. The tacos were also delicious and I love the addition of the pineapple slaw. My dining companion ate every bite of her macaroni and cheese and even though she doesn't enjoy spicy foods, she liked the jalapeño cornbread very much. I've been in the place before (a few times) and the experience was average. Service was OK, food was average but my buddy wanted to give it a try...oh well! I was hoping for an improvement. This is a nice location and attractive restaurant that stays busy regardless of food/service quality...like so many other restaurants in town. On this night I had the Reuben that arrived pretty quickly but was barely a touch of the red cabbage and other elements that were promised on the menu. My buddy had the walleye and while he found it to be "really typical," there was zero value in the $30 price tag. Unfortunately, the staff began stacking chairs well before closing time (8:40 to be exact) while we and other guests were still eating. Really disappointing even if, instead of taking place in a busy July night, we were there on a great September evening. An indication of careless management during a time when good, all around service would earn greater tips and appreciation from guests. Maybe my rating isn't as generous as many others but, because we spend plenty of time in the area, I'm sure we'll be back again.
