I had cataract surgery abt a year or so ago. I'm wishing I never had it done. First, they never addressed my problem. My vision goes blurry after looking at things closely for very long. I was told this was my problem. now I have flashing balls, black spots with tails a blurry patch that is just part of my vision now. if the idea is to get away from glasses is one thing. Dr. Frances Jansen performed my blepharoplasty surgery September 30. The left eye was all I hoped for: fully healed, no bruising and I had a beautifully open eye after two weeks. The right eye was a different story: severe bruising, swelling which caused the eye to be half opened and it took two months before all the bruising was gone. It took another two months before the eye was as opened as the left eye. Five months post surgery both eyes are nearly the same size but my lids feel odd when I put on mascara. According to the doctor at my follow up visit, my experience is not unusual. It has improved my peripheral vision substantially, and my eyes look much better. I was very hesitant to go with Missouri Eye Institute but glad I did. I had the best lasik experience with Dr. Lucas T Lenci! He's very down to earth, easy to talk to, and makes you feel at ease. If you read his reviews on other websites, you will find that he is highly credible and experienced. The actual procedure was so quick! I was able to see clearly immediately. I wore glasses/contacts since I was 12. My only regret was not getting this done sooner! Shout out to Marian, who was exceptional during the procedure. She was very helpful to make the patients feel as comfortable as possible before the surgery! My only con regarding this office is the sometimes long waits to see the doctors! I have never seen a less caring or concerned doctor and receptionist in my life. My husband had cataract surgery on one eye and he has had TERRIBLE issues with the eye. He is unable to work because he is an Engineer and his vision is 80% restricted in this eye now. When speaking with the receptionist and doctor they just blow it off and say it will go away! Well it's been 10 days and it's worse! Can you imagine having something impairing your vision by 80% and the professionals in your "corner" telling you don't worry about it?!?!!! Dr. Lenci and his staff was wonderful. I give them 5 stars. I don't regret that I had him as a surgeon. My issue is with their billing side of the business. I have had to call them at least 3 times over my bill and what insurance says I owe and what they say I owe. They always tell me, "Well you up graded the lenses," yes I did. I have paid all that, got that bill settled. Now on the surgery center side of it I show they have over charged me $1628.87. When I called and asked about this they told me, "that I had up graded lenses." I said, "Yes, I have paid that to the Missouri Eye Institute side of billing." They said, "No they split that cost with the surgery center side." Then they proceeded to tell me that Medicare had over paid. I said, "They are my insurance." Then they said, "Well I will send this over to the overpayment side to see if you get a refund." I am warning you if you are dealing with 2 separate insurance company's don't use this facility. I had my procedures done the 15th of August and the 29th of August 2024. It is now January 25th 2024 Every time I called them they had a different response. When I called in December they said, "The insurance company had sent in their part." I said, "I show they have." Then it went to well we are waiting on Medicare to pay their part. Getting PRK corrective vision surgery done here was a fantastic decision! Dr. Lenci and his staff were so friendly, informative, and helpful. With one quick procedure and a short recovery, I went from needing -5.00 prescription contact lenses to needing no contacts or glasses at all! Glasses or contacts have been part of my life since I was 7 years old. I have crystal clear, near perfect vision now in my 30s. This is the best money that I have ever spent on myself. If you're looking for an ophthalmologist, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Everything is difficult with this office, including getting an appointment, getting a phone call back from a staff member(techs, office staff), which takes days, and just complete incompetence from a doctor that had to refer me to Columbia for something minor. This place has completely wasted my time and money for something that should have taken very little time to resolve. For example, I was prescribed an eye drop that my insurance wouldn't cover, and the dr warned me they may not, which ended up taking an extra week for him to get me something else called in they would cover. There's no reason patients should have to leave multiple messages just to get a call back for a simple question or appointment. There's plenty of other places to go! read more

I have never been more disappointed in a Doctors office/professional setting. My optometrist referred me they never called me back to make the appt. After me reaching back out to my optometrist they finally called. She was nice said my original file with them from 16 years ago was in a storage shed and she assured me someone was enroute to retrieve it and it would be at office at my appointment and they could answer more questions for me after they had my original file. I left work two hours early, my husband left his job two hours early we show up. An gentleman comes in behind me very frustrated and unhappy at their ability to call him or is wife back to schedule his surgery. After he left the ladies at the desk talked about him and how they weren't worried about him. I get called back to my room and the lady indeed did NOT have my file and couldn't provide any new info on me or cost of the touch up. She then asks why I'm there? They never got my Dr's report or exam information. I said you have nothing on me, why aren't you prepared, why don't you have answers? I felt like I was unimportant and they were unprepared. I missed work I drove in undesirable conditions, and they can't give me a price or even know why I was there. That combined with hearing the other patient horrible experience, the ugly attitude of the girls concern of his time and needs and then there callus unprofessional attitude towards mine was disheartening. Since they performed my original surgery 16 plus years ago to go anywhere else will be double the expense to me. I'm not rich and I work hard for my money. It was very disappointing and disheartening. I know I won't change much for this facility they are already wealthy so shame on them for treating their patients past ones and present ones like trash. read more

My Doctor is Dr. Daniel Osborn and I can't say enough good about him, the staff and The Missouri Eye Institute. I recently underwent cataract removal with flexible lens implants to both eyes. In addition I had astigmatism correction to both eyes. There were two 10-15 minute procedures with excellent results. Dr. Osborn is an outstanding Opthamologist who is very experienced and knows what he is doing. My case was more difficult to correct because I had undergone RK surgery over 20 years ago. So Im extremely pleased with my results and would highly recommend Dr. Osborn. The follow-up with Dr. Bureman at Missouri Eye Institute after each procedure was very good. read more
