Sen and Alex and the crew have taken care of our sweet and high-ish needs pup for 7 years. Their care of our dog, and also the human end of the equation, is exemplary. We've had moments of emergency needs and the team has bent over backwards to support the whole family through some tough moments. They've also been a second home to our doggo when her humans are out of town, and the pep in her step when she gets to run into the MBPC home is a testament to the dogs in their care. The humans who work here are big-hearted, and their thoughtfulness and love of what they do is matched by the high levels of expertise and the high standards they set for pet care. Is it possible to say enough about how great the whole team is? Probably not... but here are some highlights: Training: Sen worked with us on our dog's fear/anxiety response to other dogs when on leash -- mostly helping us understand how to change our behaviors to better support our doggo. The clarity, understanding, patience, and support Sen offered were hugely helpful to us all! Boarding/Day Care: What a joy to be able to leave our beloved doggo someplace where we never worry or wonder if she's ok. Does she come back exhausted and clearly well-socialized and well-taken care of? Hell yes. Do we get tons of glamour shots AND action shots of our doggo while she's with MBPC? Double hell yeah. Truly, their care is exceptional, as is their communication with the humans involved. Nails/Ears: Our dog loves her "spa days," even when she's a little fussy about her ear cleanings. It's never a real challenge for the MBPC team, and she loves to see the whole crew. If you're lucky enough to be in the MBPC family, you are truly in with the best. We have now known Sen, Alex, & team for about a decade, and they have helped SO much with our traumatized found on the streets chihuahua mix. When I had our kids and they suddenly started toddling around, our dog got really scared and Sen helped me develop a plan to keep the dog and toddlers safe without having to rehome our dog. Now our kids are older and through using tips from Sen they have built trust with our dog, and I think that she is having just about the best life she can possibly have. After some bad experiences at other places and trying to trim her nails ourselves, we now drive 40 mins each way every other month to have Sen file/trim our dog's nails - and we wouldn't trust anyone else to treat her with such care and respect. Everyone we meet while waiting there also has nothing but praise for Mister Beever's team, and we have gotten to know several other members of the team who my children (big horse fans) have now come to admire and trust. I always recommend Sen to anyone looking for a dog behaviorist or trainer or anyone who is at the end of their rope with their dog or cat - he's just the best, and his team is amazing. I also want to mention that when we had a family medical emergency a few years ago I asked if we could board our dog with Sen & Alex. Our dog is safe and loved and actually calm & happy sometimes now, which is a miracle, AND I wouldn't leave her with most people because she is still a reactive traumatized chihuahua mix who doesn't do well with change. Sen & Alex didn't have space but said they would work with me to figure something out since they'd known us for so long and I was so panicked about figuring out details. We ended up not having to board her at the last minute, but I was so grateful that despite having PACKED schedules and lives they were willing to help me troubleshoot. Sen & crew are the best! I've been bringing my puppy to get her very dense black nails done since her very first nail trim and I love going there with her. She loves Sen so much that we can't even walk by the vets office where he does his magic without her having a fit and wanting to go in and see him! Sen and Alex are amazing! My horse lame from some unknown pasture injury, 3/5 on her hind leg. Her back was spasming and she was as favoring the leg and not bearing weight on it. Sen expertly administered a magnawave treatment on her back and hind, and during the treatment she yawned and released, and her eyes were relaxed and she became so mellow. She was no longer spasming, and she almost fell asleep she was so relaxed. And she was right as rain the next day! I can't even tell she was ever off at all! Sen and Alex are highly recommended in my book. My mare is spooky and untrustworthy, being a feral mustang, and Sen is SO GOOD with her! I was so lucky to discover Sen and Alex for my two dogs and two cats. I met Sen when he was working as a vet tech at the Vet Eye doctor. I went in for an eye problem my big dog was having. Sen was terrific with my terrified shaking 70lb snow dog mix. He was knowledgeable, kind, gentle, compassionate, professional. I jokingly asked him if he did house calls and by gum he did and does!!! Mister and Missus Beaver subsequently have been to my house many times to trim both my dogs nails, clean their ears, and little dogs anal glands... And have done at least one of my cats nails as well. Really I just adore Sen and Alex and totally trust them as well.. They are prompt and courteous and Sen is a fount of information... I have not used them in quite awhile as I couldn't afford it for awhile. I think it was $40.00 per animal Which seems very reasonable for a house call. However I am just about to call them and make an appointment as I really cannot do as good a job as they can (plus I don't do butts-so far anyway). The only minus and this is just me is that I wish they would do some kind of reminder call or email or text a few days before the upcoming appt as I have forgotten and the let me slide once (I think) but understandably charge full price as I recall if they show up and I'm not here.. I first reviewed Mister Beever's Paws & Claws about six years ago and felt it was time to update. Basically, Sen and Alex - and now Carla - make life possible. They have taken such amazing, sensitive, excellent care of my cats and been kind, responsive, and helpful to me through various pet issues. Sen and Alex have been so much more than "just" pet sitters for me and my animal family. Carla, who works with them, now watches my girls regularly when I travel, and is amazing. She makes me feel that my cats are not just taken care of, but genuinely loved when I'm out of town. Sen and Alex did drop-in care of my two older kitties while I was on vacation in London this past week, and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience! They are professional, responsive, and friendly to the max, and my cats love them too. Sen the superstar vet tech and his amazing life partner and sometimes work assistant, Alex, now come to my house to trim my dogs' nails once a month. Although my husky mutt is fairly reasonable about it, my pug is extremely difficult and dramatic about getting his nails trimmed. He screams, gets stressed out--it's a mess at the vet's office when we try to do it there. Now that Sen and Alex's come to my house every month, it is so much less stressful for both dogs, and my pug's nails are no longer overgrown. He's getting used to having it done, which makes it easier on everyone. My kitty--who was always healthy--suddenly got sick and got diagnosed with cystitis (crystals) right before a trip I had been planning for a year. I had to take him to the emergency room twice in a row because he was straining to pee. I was a frantic mess because all of this was happening just a week before the trip. I had already booked Alex and Sen, and I wrote to them to update them about my cat's new medical condition: Me: "Alex! Sen! OMG! I just got back from the emergency room! My cat has cystitis! I have to put him on prescription diet. I don't know what to do! Can you guys come in everyday instead of every other? Can you feed him prescription wet food and monitor his peeing? can you drive him to emergency if need be? Shall I just cancel the trip? OMG OMG, I'm freaking out!" A&S: "This is the exact kind of thing we are trained to do. Have a wonderful vacation, and we will take care of everything." They were right. I had a wonderful vacation, and they took care of EVERYTHING. My house was cleaner than when I had left it. My cat was purry and perfectly healthy when i came back (he was like, "oh, are you back already?"). They brought in my cat food shipment and had it all organized on my kitchen counter. They covered my plant with foil paper so that my kitty would not dig up the plant. There were new feather toys and organic catnip toys at the house. They even left a cute thank you card on the table! I was like, "Whaaaat? I should be thanking you guys! Not the other way around!" I now understand the difference of hiring a licensed Vet Tech with many years of experience versus hiring a normal petsitter. Oh Sen and Alex, Sen and Alex. We would be lost without them. In January my husband and I brought home a puppy - a little ball of gingery love we named Cooper. He is so sweet and affectionate but he is a spritely little bird dog and he has SO MUCH ENERGY. Like any new puppy guardians (who had never been sole providers of puppy care) we were exhausted and stressed that we weren't doing anything right. We needed help wearing out our little guy and we needed to find a sitter who could let our pup out every day at lunch time while we were working. Along came Sen and Alex of Mr Beever's, recommended by our vet. Sen and Alex made time for us and our puppy immediately after we contacted them. They came over for a meet and greet and Coop loved them right off the bat, and so did we! A huge bonus of working working with Mr Beever's is that Sen is a registered vet tech extraordinaire and both he and Alex are certified in animal CPR and first aid. Together they taught us how to care for our pup's long ears which are prone to infection. We are now able to successfully clean our guys ears weekly with no fuss. Fast forward 8 months and 20 pounds of high energy dog and Sen and Alex take Coop on excursions every weekday - to different parks, to the redwoods, to the beach. Not only does he get exercise but he also gets lots of socialization with other dogs - big and small, young and adult. And we get texts with pictures showing what our guy is up to during the day - it's always something to look forward to when work is crazy. When we take Coop on trips over the weekend, Sen and Alex do drop-ins to take care of Cooper's feline brother. They bring in packages and do all these things we never expected but that's one of the numerous benefits of working with such a great team!! I met Sen when I took my cocker spaniel into the Eye Care Specialists to have his cataracts removed. He mentioned that he did some normal dog care maintenance in my home so I needed traipse to the groomer just to have Toby's anal glands express, his toenail clipped, and his ears totally clean out. I must say that I am spoiled now since Sen and Alex come to my house every 3 weeks and put Toby back in a working state for me. Toby love's them and can't wait to have his maintenance done. I don't know how I did without them. I'm eager to use their boarding services at some time in the future because I think that Toby would greatly improve his social skills while with them. I don't write many reviews, but Sen has been a blessing. I have a Sphynx (He's Cairo in Mr. Beever's pictures) and he is pretty darn high maintenance, requiring daily ear cleanings, weekly baths, butt wipings (no hair to cover up the rear bits), cuticle cleaning, etc. I needed some long-term boarding while I relocated and found a house and Sen took in my baby at a price that was ridiculously reasonable. Trust me, I called all over town. I learned of Mr. Beever when I lived in Tucson, AZ and Sen babysat my pets. So glad to know that he's in The Bay area now to take care of Cairo's needs. Back to the cat... Cairo came to Sen with some medical problems that Sen quickly resolved. He saved Cairo's hearing and that's pretty much priceless. It's so wonderful to see him respond to my voice again. Sen found an eye problem and taught me how to treat it at home. I can honestly say that Cairo and I are lucky to have The Beev (he'll kill me for calling him that) in our lives. All that money that Sen saved us in vet visits can now go to Cairo's catnip addiction and a new scratching post. I never thought Cairo would get along w/ dogs and other cats. He's quite the handful. Sen taught Cairo manners and it's quite the sight to behold him frolicking with a dog about 10x his size. I can only hope that this review begins to express to Sen how much he has really given to us. PS Why are we limited to five stars? I'd like to give Sen an additional five from Cairo. A few months ago I got to know Sen when my cat had to to in for eye surgery. I fell in love with him and asked if he did any pet sitting and that began a lovely relationship with both Sen and his wife Alex. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats and they always check them out for health and happiness when they arrive. Our youngest two dogs had some manners issues so we started having Sen and Alex walk and train them to be kind to other dogs and children they meet. What a difference this has made! When they started Mister Beever's Paws and Claws to do housecalls for the monthly ear checks, nail clipping, and anal expression, I checked in with my vet about the methods my regular groomer was using. My older dog had been having issues with her bottom and, in talking with my vet, I found out many groomers do the expression incorrectly and also cut the nails too short. I love our groomer and she still comes for baths and haircuts but she is happy to have someone else do those "delicate" jobs that Sen and Alex are so good at. I can't say enough about this service. My cat Benny suffered from kidney failure and needed daily fluids He was such a little fighter that he wouldn't let anyone hold him down, they would do so at risk of losing an eye, so it was hard for me to get any of my friends to cover for me when I would go away on vacation. Had Sen take care of my two ladies while I was away on a trip. It felt really comforting to know his background and the importance he placed on how he likes his own pets to be treated definitely shows in the way he treats others pets. Was nice to get a text message with pics on updates about the kitties. They felt pretty at ease when I got home compared to other times. A little bit about me. I had just moved to the Oakland area last month. I have two friends in the bay area, but they are pretty far away from my apartment and not pet-people. And I have no family here. So..when I found out that I had to travel back home for a family emergency, I was desperately trying to reach out to anyone to watch my dog for the weekend. I found Alex and Sen using the East Bay Pet Sitters Association. I was so desperate to find someone to pop-in my apartment and check on my dog so I emailed everyone on the list of recommended pet sitters. Alex responded to my email in less than 24 hours and so kindly agreed to watch my dog. How much notice did I give them? Three days! I was sure I wasn't going to find anyone. I emailed Mister Beever's Paws & Claws on WEDNESDAY to watch my dog starting SATURDAY. (yea...really short notice). Alex and Sen met me at my apartment on Friday to meet my pup and go over logistics for the drop-in visits. Once I met them, I knew at once that Lucy would be in great care. And not only because of their experience with caring for animals, but because they're great people. They gave me recommendations of good vets and clinics, dog care products, restaurants for good eats in the Oakland area, and other services since I told them I'd just moved here. And not knowing many people in this area, I really appreciate finding and meeting good people. During my time at home, I received twice-daily texts and emails with pictures of my dog in my apartment and out on walks with Alex and Sen. I felt so relieved, especially having to deal with the stressful emergency back home. I hope you read all this, but the short version is, don't look any further!! Mister Beever's is the way to go!
