This review is long overdue. Christi has been taking care of our Aussie "Willa" for 2 years now. She does an amazing job and Willa always comes home really tired and looking like she had the best day ever. Willa is young and an active breed, but Christi knows how to channel her energy by taking her on long pack walks/hikes, swimming, playing fetch and off leash time (when appropriate). Sometimes she even combines multiple outings in one day! Willa is typically gone about 2.5-3 hours a day, so this is not just a quick walk around the neighborhood type of thing. Besides the variety of outings, I love that Willa gets to play with the other dogs in her pack. Its the perfect blend of dog socialization without the uncertainty of dog parks or overly crowded daycares. Willa has never come home with any cuts or mysterious injuries despite playing like crazy, and I attribute that to Christi's keen eye and safety first attitude. I've worked in vet hospitals and was an Animal Control Officer in the past and am very picky about who I let watch my dog because I know how bad situations can get when someone isn't trustworthy or reliable. That being said, Christi is one of the few people that I trust with Willa and am able to relax knowing she's in capable hands. Willa has also boarded with Christi at her home numerous times, even for over a week and had a blast. She never comes home stressed out, as she had with other sitters in the past. The icing on the cake are all of the photos you get to see each day on her Instagram story. You always know what your dog got up to that day and can sit at your desk and live vicariously through them.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I wrote a review for anything -- but I'm concerned about…read morethe care here and think other pet owners should know what happened, especially if you care about getting clear, honest communication about your pet's health. For context: we'd been going to this clinic for five years and always felt good about the care. That changed after our most recent visit. I specifically scheduled a full examination (with specific concerns about allergies and seizures) for my dog before we left town for an extended trip, so she'd be fully checked before we were away. The vet didn't speak with me at all after the exam. It was only after the visit (around three days after) that I noticed a mass on my dog's side, so I emailed the clinic to ask whether the vet had happened to notice anything during the exam, since nothing had been mentioned to me. I was told that the vet had noted a mass and recommended monitoring. And, I was also told the vet was "happy to look at the mass again at no charge." The need for reexamination worried me so I followed up to ask if it is urgent. I was told "consistent monitoring is fine, not urgent at all." There was some back and forth with scheduling another visit, which prompted me to email asking for clarification on the inconsistencies during our communication. Instead of a written response, I got a phone call from the medical director. On that call, the medical director told me the vet actually meant to write that she did not see a mass -- the opposite of what was shared with me via email. When I pointed out that made no sense (if there was no mass, how could she have advised it wasn't urgent?), I was then told the vet's note reflected me telling her I'd found a mass, and that masses "sometimes don't show up" at the vet visit. I had to explain that this was also incorrect -- I hadn't noticed anything until after the appointment, which is why I'd emailed asking in the first place. So, I was given three different, inconsistent explanations. I tried to ask and understand what happened. I can accept a missed diagnosis--as long as we can work together to address it. However, their explanation was very opaque. As I asked more questions, I was told that she has a family and has to go (which I understand as it was 6pm). But I was disappointed when she followed that indicating that I wasn't a good fit for the clinic and should go elsewhere. I was only trying to reconcile the inconsistencies in the information they provided and have only been requesting explanations to what happened (and not refund/ compensation). Not to mention, she made various comments about my personality as I was trying to understand what happened and requested answer to the questions I outlined in my email to the clinic. To her credit, the medical director stayed on the phone with me for 25 minutes (with me pushing for more information and understanding what happened) and did offer to have the mass checked herself at no charge. I've gone ahead and scheduled that follow-up, since I already paid for a full exam that should have covered this. But I'm left unsure whether this is the standard of communication and record-keeping I should expect. Meanwhile, I've reached out to other vet clinics, which these days, may take awhile to get off the waitlist. I'd encourage folks to review their own pet's records closely and ask questions if anything seems off, because not all information may be shared with you otherwise.

Shame on you Wag Hotel!…read more I scheduled boarding for my dog Hans at your facility back on 1/28 in preparation for a trip to Japan on May 3 - 8, which you accepted on 1/31. However, when we arrived at your facility on May 2nd, the day before my flight to Japan, your front desk staff informed me that Hans' 5/2 - 5/8 boarding was being denied due to him having a heart murmur condition. Even though I've been a loyal customer to you for over 10 years; and that Hans' heart murmur condition had already been noted in your system since 2024; and given that my flight to Japan was less than 24 hours away; and given the fact that your facility waited until I was at the checkin desk in order to inform me of Hans' boarding denial; I was still told that there was nothing that your facility could do and that it was simply following company policy. Luckily for me, I demanded to speak with a manager who then took it upon himself to assist me in finding another facility that would board Hans at the very last minute. So kudos to that manager. However, you should know that he had to make several calls going down your "other recommended facilities" list in order to find a facility that was willing to board Hans on such short notice even with him having a preexisting heart murmur condition. So again, kudos to that manager. So unfortunately, this is how our relationship ends after I've been a loyal customer to you for over 10 years. Policy aside, not only should I have been notified far in advance to my May 2nd boarding schedule, but that I should have also been given an accommodation due to the last minute nature of your notification. It was simply amazing to me to hear both your Manager, and your front desk staff all admit that a notification error had, in fact, been made by your boarding authorization unit, but due to company policy there was nothing that could be done and that Hans would simply have to boarded elsewhere. Obviously, both my years of customer loyalty and the fact that your authorization unit had made a horrendous mistake, made absolutely no difference whatsoever in my situation. So goodbye, and again shame on you Wag Hotel!

Update following the owner (Suzanne)'s response:…read more I appreciate the business taking the time to respond. I want to clarify a few points for transparency and for prospective customers considering Happy Hound. My concern was never the existence of a first-day assessment fee, but the value delivered. I have used dog daycares across NYC, Chicago, LA, and San Francisco and have never encountered one that charges more than a standard daycare day for a first-day evaluation. In many cases, the first day is complimentary. That context shaped my expectations going in. When I called to book, the 3:00pm time slot was the only option presented to me by Happy Hound. At no point during booking--or after the tour--was it communicated that the daycare credit would apply the same way regardless of whether my dog attended for a full day or only a couple of hours. Without that clarity, it is entirely reasonable for a new customer to assume that paying for a full day would result in receiving a full day of care. That is where the communication breakdown occurred. I am not disputing the sequence of events shared in the owner's reply. My concern is with the policy itself--specifically, requiring payment for a full day of daycare while not delivering a full day of service when scheduling limitations come from the business. The outcome was that I paid for care my dog did not receive. A prorated refund for the unused portion of that day would have been a reasonable, customer-oriented resolution. Sharing this simply so other prospective customers understand how the onboarding process and policies work in practice.

She always runs right in when we drop her off and we can tell she has a lot of fun when we watch her on the webcam. In situations where our travel plans have delayed us in picking her up, they have always been incredibly kind and understanding. We started adding walks to her long stays so she gets some individual outside time in addition to all day inside playtime. I have nothing but good things to report about the Barkmont and they make being a dog owner in the Bay so much easier. I also think they are just really good people, I heard they now partner with local pet rescues to give their foster dogs some socialization and love. Makes us feel good supporting them. At the other facility, Ollie for the first time displayed separation anxiety. The first time he did so, I thought he was just a bit nervous. HE CANNOT WAIT TO GET IN THE DOOR AT THE BARKMONT. He absolutely loves the staff - professionals who are all very loving, kind and tender with the dogs. I should add that Ollie is somewhat of a higher maintenance dog - a 2-year-old 80 lb Samoyed who is an attention hound. I really like that the Barkmont has cameras so that you can log into to see how your fur baby is doing during a stay. The dogs are constantly monitored by staff who are in the various rooms - to ensure that no one gets out of line. Alot of additional services - meals, walks, bath etc. Kirk and Amanda - the owners both love dogs. They have provided in my opinion the VERY BEST DAYCARE FACILITY in the Bay Area.

While I spent a lot of money, I was happy to know that my dog finally got some treatment for his arthritis. Due to my schedule, they scheduled me for his monthly Librela shot at the Pacific location. I got a call today (on the day of his appointment) saying that I need a record of his vaccinations before he can get his second dosage of Liberla shot. During the first visit, they never once mentioned that I need to submit his record of vaccinations, as I don't have them. They said that according to CA law, they can't give him his Librela shot without the rabies booster, which is understandable, but I wish they would have told me that even prior to sedating him, giving him X-rays and his first dosage of Librela. Since my dog desperately needs his Librela shot today, I asked if they could comped the $37 rabies shot. They said "no". I spent $1800 on the first vet visit and his monthly Librela shot is $180. I would have never done that if I would have known about their requirements and terrible customer service. The reception stood firm on their $37 rabies shot requirement, never apologized or even empathized with my frustration.
