I visited this establishment to get a quote to frame a piece of art and found it way over priced when compared with similar businesses. When I enquired about a possible discount the lady there told me that "this is not Michaels". It was not that I could not have afforded to pay close to $500 to frame a project for my wife, but as I said it was way over priced. Poor customer service at its best. read more

I bought an amazing canvas painting on my last trip to Cuba in January. Amazing, and large. It was on a basic wooden frame when I saw it, but the artist took it off so I could roll it up and put it in my suitcase. I figured I would just get it put on to another canvas frame when I got home. Perhaps my husband could even make one for me. Once we got home and looked into it, we realized it wouldn't be that easy, and that we'd have to get it professionally done. I called Michael's first as I've gotten different things framed there in the past. They wouldn't even give me a quote over the phone if I gave them the exact measurements and said I'd have to bring it in, just for the quote. So I turned to Yelp. Rachel F. suggested Mister Frame so I gave them a call. The owner Wes answered the phone and gave me what turned out to be a very accurate quote. I took the painting in the next day and he told me it would be ready in 2-3 weeks. I thought of another question by the time I got back to my office so I gave him a call and he was really helpful in explaining the answer to me. Imagine how happy I was when he called me exactly two weeks later to tell me my painting was ready. I picked it up the same day. It looks fantastic! The painting is bright, but somehow it looks even brighter, sharper and overall better stretched out properly and with the black edging. Overall, I was really pleased with the customer service and quality of work at Mister Frame. My approx. 36" x 28" painting only cost $91, which seemed reasonable to me. I felt like I trusted in Wes more than I trusted in a place like Michael's and much preferred the personal service. Highly recommended. read more

Needing custom mats for seven large(ish) prints for a Christmas gift, I went to Mr. Frame. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed with the store. Wes, the owner, was patient with my request and extremely helpful with suggestions (I would never have through to put black mats with black frames, but wow! did they ever make the astronomy prints pop!). His craftsmanship was outstanding, and not only was I impressed with the end result, but my sweetheart was amazed with his unique gift. One thing that I really loved about Mr. Frame was the absence of a high-pressured sales pitch. I wish that I were able to have custom frames made in addition to the mats. But Wes never made me feel bad about buying pre-made frames as a cost-saving measure (seven frames would be quite a lot), instead complimenting me on the beauty of the prints and how nice the final package looked, even in the off-the-shelf frames. Wes certainly made a satisfied customer out of me. And I will be returning soon to have another print actually framed. read more

I had never paid to have anything framed before... outside of Micheal's DIY that is. So based on the fantastic reviews of Mister Frame from trusted reviews (thank you Karlie and Rachel!) I decided to give them a try. I went in with my art work not really knowing how the framing process really works, but with a general idea of how I wanted the finished product to look. Now, when you know nothing about framing it's really hard to explain what you want; this is where the Mister Frame team excels. Without laughing or making me feel daft, they helped guide me through all the steps of matting, glass, frame and all the other technical terms and steps, all the while giving many options of differing price ranges until we found the perfect fit. I was blown away at how very similar mats or frames could have very different price points... Let me be clear, really good framing can be quite expensive. But, if you really have art you love, that you want to display for a long time, it is worth it to have it framed properly, by people whom are excellent at what they do and really care about the customer, as well as the finished product. We all take vacations; we all bring our cameras to capture our time away from home and realistically? We all leave our photos on our cameras or on some tiny memory card. We show our friends the majestic scenery via our phones or handing them our cameras. I decided I wanted to show case and preserve a few of my memories and a few of my photographs would make great additions to my home. I went and actually made copies of my photos and proceeded to contact a few frame shops. I chose a shop called "Mr. Frame" as I thought that it might deduce that this place would be the best place to go. I mean with a name "Mr. Frame" you couldn't go wrong. I was pleasantly correct. The shop itself was trendy yet comfortable. It's a family run business which I love. The owner was great and extremely knowledgeable. He guided me through all the stuff that was required to keep my pictures protected. From picture matting to which type of frame to what type glass he frames with. I didn't realize what just the air does to our sentimental valuables. He showed me some of his work from hockey stuff to certificates. It was a valuable lesson for me. His prices were excellent compared to a few other shops I had priced out and his work was impeccable. He suggestions work nicely in my home and I would highly recommend this shop to anyone who is actually going to frame that special art project your from your child first day in school or that great print purchase bought on whatever website gave you the best deal. read more

I can't say enough about the professionalism and service provided at each location. I am from out of town and dropped off an item to be framed at the downtown location prior to leaving on a trip. They phoned me and emailed me a photo letting me it was done. When I ran into a delay at the airport on my way back they arranged for me to be able to pick up my picture at the St. Albert location (open later) and even then stayed after closing so I could pick it up. I used Yelp to help me find a good framer for some beautiful paintings my fiancé and I had bought from overseas holidays. Being irreplaceable I was concerned about using a trusted business whom I knew wouldn't stuff it up! Being from Fort McMurray I initially emailed and recieved a rough estimate of my 4 paintings which was reasonable. It would all depend on the actual framing material I ended up selecting. I called in during a visit to town and Lynn was lovely. She spent the time helping me select the perfect frames holding up the paintings with the samples so I could see them at different angles. Then I received a detailed quote for each piece. The service was exceptional. I mentioned I was comin back through town in 3 weeks if it was ready then it would save me a big trip. I was very happy to say they made that deadline. We went to collect the paintings and Wes showed the artwork which was beautiful. The framing was perfect and exceptional. They even gave us hooks to hang them with and guaranteed the work, so that if anything happened to bring it back for no charge. We are more than happy and would definitely recommend Mr. Frame to anyone with precious art, photos or quilts. It was not the most expensive place either. I came into the St. Albert location on a Tuesday with a last minute birthday idea for my son whose birthday was on the following Sunday. I was framing a sports photo of him to look like the professional athletes photos he had on his bedroom wall. Normally a 2 week turnaround, I really had no expectation that they could turn it around so quickly but Alicia thought it may be possible, no promises. Not only did they have it done by Friday but they did an amazing job, with the matting and engraved name plate to look like his other framed pro athlete photos. He absolutely loved it!! I took 2 expensive paintings from overseas to have stretched and mounted for some reason unknown the paintings were not centered on the frames. We are not talking about a small amount but several inches. We then had to return the paintings and with detailed discussion to have the paintings centered by shifting the painting on the frame a couple of inches. This instruction seemed to be understood but the worker decided on her own to reduce the size of the painting to an extent where part of the painting would be covered once framed. Very sad situation art work cannot be easily replaced one of the paintings can no longer be the original size as the artist intended. The painting is damaged the entire experience has been a disaster. I strongly recommend that if you have expensive artwork DO NOT TRUST this business to meet your requirements. We will use Mister Frame again. Now that they are in St. Albert, we will go to this store, as I understand the same owners own the 107 Ave Store and the St. Albert one. We used the 107 Ave store. I've been meaning to do a review for awhile. I wanted some special items framed for my brother's funeral (his trades tickets, a poem, a photo and a special buckle from his union). We did not have a lot of time, and we were making many decisions quickly, but also wanted a piece that would last, and that my parents could hang later. The items were different sizes and shapes. The staff here were amazing; they went above and beyond to get the item done very quickly. While it wasn't cheap, it was inline with professional framing costs. The layout is great, the matting and frame colors pull it all together, and everything looks balanced. Highly recommend this business! read more

I had seen the reviews on here and when my boyfriend acquired a Jersey he wanted framed I went in to get some quotes and see what they could do. The staff were wonderful and friendly. They told me pricing and what styles they could do and all the options. I went back in with the Jersey to get it framed as a surprise for his birthday. I was cutting the timeline close leaving only 10 days. They went over the layout with the jersey and papers I had brought to go with it. It ended up being under the quote that they gave me before which was a bonus and they got it completed a few days before they said it would which was even better! If you are wondering where in Edmonton deserves your business for framing it's this place! Believe me! I have been all over Edmonton and have found other framing businesses annoyed to spend the time with me on choosing mats and frames and figuring out the right proportions for my handwork that I worked so hard on. When you care about your art and you are willing to pay for custom framing, you want to get it right and these guys get that! I walked in and felt so welcome and was very impressed with all of the beautiful options. I was only going to have one of my pieces framed but they were so accomodating and helpful that I came back the next day bringing 5 other pieces for them to frame. It was quickly done. They gave me a really good price and the work was perfect!! They took my work to a whole new level! I had to come around the counter and hug Lynn (who was so wonderful helping me choose everything and who did a fabulous job stretching and mounting all of my work) Now I know where I will always go in future.
