Here are the key problems I encountered with Chad and his crew: * Substandard Insulation: Despite my explicit request for new insulation in the living room, Chad instructed his crew to install the new drywall directly over the original 54-year-old insulation. I had to intervene and ensure that new insulation was installed before the drywall work could proceed. * Inferior Paint Substitution: After I selected a specific brand and color of paint, his crew arrived with a lower-quality "color-matched" brand. I only noticed the substitution after half the living room was painted, making it difficult to rectify at that point. * Extended Flooring Delay: Chad's crew demolished all existing flooring in my home without having the replacement materials on hand. They left on September 23, 2024, and no one returned to install new flooring until October 4, 2024. This left my family living on a dirty concrete subfloor for 11 days due to what Chad claimed was an issue with his supplier. * Incorrect Flooring Quality: I explicitly requested 20-mil flooring, and Chad assured me he would "never install anything lower quality than that." However, the first pallet of flooring delivered was only 8-mil, which I refused to allow them to install. * Neglected Subfloor Preparation: When the correct flooring finally arrived, his crew intended to lay it directly on our uneven subfloor without any leveling or floating. I had to insist they float and level the subfloor before installation. * Unpaid Subcontractors: To make matters worse, one of Chad's subcontractors approached me midway through the project (while Chad was unresponsive) to inform me that Chad had not paid him for his work at my house. The only reason the project was (mostly) completed was because I had paid via credit card and threatened to dispute the charges if he did not rectify the situation. He still owes me an electrical outlet installation and has ceased all communication. **Since this review was posted, Chad reached out and had our electrical outlet re-installed. During the project, the contractor was involved in an accident while hauling debris from our job. Based on the circumstances that followed, including his indication that he would be pursuing compensation for lost wages related to the accident, we no longer had confidence that the project would be completed within a reasonable timeframe. As a result, we decided to terminate the contract and hire another contractor to complete the work. We also disagreed about how much of our deposit had been earned. In our opinion, the completed demolition and framing represented substantially less than half of the overall project value, given the significant amount of specialized work remaining. The contractor maintained that he was entitled to retain the full $4,500 deposit. We were unable to resolve the dispute and are pursuing recovery of the disputed funds. Based on our experience, we recommend using milestone-based payments tied to completed work rather than paying substantial deposits in advance. We also recommend having a clear written agreement describing how deposits will be handled if a project cannot be completed.

At the time I made that proposal, I had not yet consulted with an attorney and was not fully aware of my legal rights. My offer was made in good faith in an effort to resolve this dispute. FairClaims did not accept or respond to that proposal at the time, the company ghosted me for over a year. The amount I offered would not even cover the cost of correcting the installation deficiencies & hiring qualified contractors to complete the outstanding work that FairClaims was paid to perform. FairClaims requested mediation, and I responded with a good-faith settlement proposal in the hope of resolving this matter. If Fairclaims Roofing / FCR Services is a honest company, they would want to do right thing, They would agree to a fair and reasonable settlement: 1) refund for work they failed to do and incorrect installation 2) cover all repairs and all outstanding work, however, based on the unreasonable settlement offer I recently received, I do not believe that their request for mediation was made in good faith to resolve this dispute, If this matter proceeds to litigation, when I am successful, I intend to seek all damages and remedies available under applicable law, including attorney's fees, costs, and any other relief authorized by law including RCAT and DTPA claims.

Initially the transaction was superb, and we were really excited to own the beautiful home. We have more rooms within the house that leak due to a poor roofing subcontractor (Fairclaims Roofing) than we have dry rooms that has failed to remedy the situation in visiting the house and repairing it at least 8 times. Each time we paid for the visit to the roofing subcontractor the builder said they used. The owner, Justin, company came out a couple times but was as incompetent in recommending a fix and identifying the problem as the crew was installing the roof. His excuses were blaming it on the design of the house, the builder built this as a model home so the roof was not done with the right quality, and the builder was not willing to pay for the correct materials, etc. Moving forward from that mess we had independent roofing inspectors individually inspect the leaking areas and the entirety of the roof. Well, it comes to find out that our shingles would not even pass a warranty because the roof was not properly installed and the granularization of the shingles showed they were too old and improperly stored prior to installation. PLEASE NOTE: This was two different independent inspectors that noted the EXACT SAME THING.....you need a new roof due to the poor craftsmanship on the roof and how can you warranty something that was never done right in the first place.
