my modest home was saved due to "calling in the experts" at Native Texas Landscapes
    Lynn W.

Native Texas Landscapes came to my rescue after receiving no help from numerous other "dead end streets" I had contacted regarding a logistics problem I had with mold/moisture build up due to water retention on the outside of my home. After retirement, I purchased a home only a few streets off the beach of El Jardin Del Mar and the Gulf. Water retention and flooding had been such a frequent irritation over the years that the house had been treated for termites TWICE, as learned during disclosure, even before I had purchased it! As soon as I called Native Texas Landscapes, Wes Hackney, paid me a visit and made a quick assessment of the problem. What he first noticed was, that I had a slight decline grade in my backyard, causing water to be trapped up against the concrete patio right outside the backdoor. When he showed me the decline he exclaimed: "The patio is acting like a dam since it was poured directly up against the backwall of the house." The diagnosis was as follows: 1. dig out the concrete against the wall of the house creating a "nonconcrete" section between the house and the remainder of the patio; lay decorative flagstones to highlight a short path to the rest of the patio. The flagstones were situated in such a way to enable drainage. 2. Create a French drain (dry moat) engineered to run the length of the backwall of the home, topped with gravel funneling water to a vacant gully outside of the fenced backyard area. 3. Outfit overhead gutters on the back eaves. These "commonsense" measures (which had been completely overlooked by every other company I'd called), only took his entire crew two full days to complete. Best of all, I have NEVER had water retention/flooding/or moisture build up in my house or yard since...and that INCLUDES HURRICANE HARVEY! Remarkable considering that numerous houses in my area DID suffer flooding! Lynn Woods, Ph.D.

Native Texas Landscape did an excellent job! They put up a new fence, put in drainage, poured new sidewalk, new porch columns and installed new landscaping for my front yard. Price was in line with the other 4 bids I had received. Wes, the owner came out to give me my bid and did a drawing with itemized price during that visit. No one else would give me itemized price list or drawing until they had the job. His ideas where unique and I knew immediately he was he man for the job. I couldn't be more happier. His workers were all very courteous and helpful with relocating plants I wanted to save. Wes stopped by everyday to check on job and called me back when I texted him. Very happy!

Wes and company designed and built our outdoor kitchen last spring so this spring we got a quote for more work with Native Texas Landscape. This spring they laid sod in our whole backyard, reconfigured and beautified our front beds (including transplanting a LOT of shrubs to the backyard), poured a walkway/driveway extension AND rocked in our fireplace. FEW that was a lot of work you guys! It all together only took the amazing crew 7 days. While we have had some difficulties with communication really what it comes down to is the guys doing the hard work. While they were grouting the fireplace rock we didn't like the color and they had no problem stopping and coming back the next day with what we wanted. I really hope that they take care of their people because they are good hard working folks. Since we moved into our home we have had a pool built and dealt with other construction/landscape companies. I have learned that it does take some patience on my part. If a construction crew or landscape crew around Houston tells you they can start the next day...that they aren't busy...it should be a red flag! It sometimes takes up to a month to begin projects. In most instances as long as I voice my opinion and concern they will work with me and do a good job.

Even a few days later, when I thought of more things to ask, he was quick to respond and made sure I got the info I needed. I asked a lot of off the wall things, but he was patient and made sure I understood the explanation of different types of patios and materials. Before starting the project, he walked me through the plan and introduced me to my project manager, Luis. Luis was great, he kept me updated the whole way, even during the first week when I was out of town. I had no worries and I was able to enjoy my vacation while full on construction was going on at my home. Every crew that came out, roofing, painting, cement, told me what they were there to do and asked if I had any questions before getting started. I also have to mention Blanca in the office, every time I called, she was so friendly and easy to talk to, it was like I'd known her for years. The end result? My patio is beautiful! I was torn between putting money down on a larger home and moving, or building a patio to add square footage for gatherings. I am so happy I went with a new patio instead of the debt of a new home. I had to personally put getting any remodeling and home additions on hold while I cared for my dad for over a year. We talked about my patio dream before he passed in March. He kept telling me -"get that patio done". I'll think of him every time I'm enjoying my new space.

I live on the golf course and I have received many compliments on the new addition to my house. My ONE gripe is one of their salesman, Dustin, did not impress. He does not have an eye for design and didn't know how to properly use his own company's rendering software. We had to use our own imagination and limited design knowledge the entire time. He NEVER took notes during our meetings, so we had to constantly remind him of the selections and changes we wanted to make. We had to pester him to update the contract and tell us the next steps needed to get the ball rolling. We almost didn't move forward with DWR. The other salespeople in the office/showroom were wonderful though. They had great suggestions and feedback that helped move our project forward. The lead contractor, Richard, we were assigned to was wonderful as well. He encouraged us to call him with any problems (which we did) and gave us very valuable and authetic feedback and suggestions on improvements to the design of the patio. His decades of experience were very instrumental in restoring our confidence. DWR does use some outside contractors, but they were very professional and we ended up using their electrician for our own needs later.

Primo was quick to respond to our initial request and provided a detailed and professional construction plan along with a 3-dimensional model of what the finished project would look like. Kevin and his team were able to quickly answer any questions that we had and provided a quotation within 2 days. Primo handled all the inspections and permits required for the Woodlands Association approval. Primo built a new 500 sqft gabled patio with a 7' wide wood burning (gas light assist) fireplace along with sitting benches on each side. The fireplace, benches and supporting posts are finished in natural stone veneer with a "dry stack" installation. The floor was constructed with Belgard Origins pavers in a Crab Orchard color. The ceiling was finished with a cedar tongue and groove finish along with a pony wall and cedar collar ties. To finish the project, Primo also installed new cedar fencing in the back yard. We are 100% completely satisfied with the workmanship and responsiveness of Primo Outdoor Living. They finished the project on time and were completely transparent with all aspects of the construction. In our opinion, Primo has an outstanding team that completed the project as agreed on. Kevin (owner) was at our site every morning to answer our questions and oversee the construction progress. The Primo construction crew were dependable and arrived early every morning. They did not require any micromanagement whatsoever. David, Juan, Jaime, Chealbi and the rest of the Primo staff are outstanding, easy to work with and can be counted on to do the right thing. We will definitely be using Primo on future outdoor projects.

The results are truly beautiful and have exceeded our expectations. The entire experience has been a pleasure!
