A little history: I and my mother were some of Dr Mutterperl's first patients. That goes back to the late 80's.. so do the math. I, over the years, have had several bumps with the Dr. and his staff. Like when I was still a surgical asst and had a finger poke on the job. His the staff member, Carol Jo, insisted on an outdated regime as a response. I hung up on the fool, who then called my mother (mother extremely brittle COPD) and FREAKED HER OUT ! I should have sued then. Can't enumerate the # of times I had to fight with staff to get appointments or get a question answered; But with the dearth of competent care in Bayonne my mother wanted to stick with him. During her final days, I thank her Pulmonary team for their comfort-this guy was useless and absent! 2013I'm admitted to hospital for diverticulitis: told by this guy just how bad it was; in patient 10 days! Upon release I sought the advice ofa well know specialist in NYC, who after exam and reviewing the same CT scans Mutterperl had concluded, that I was hospitalized because "you Dr. Must have wanted a new car"!!!!!!!!!! Totally unnecessary hospitalization. I was thrilled when his partner, Tobi Ippolito, MD, left Bayonne to join the Summit Medical Group Team. I'd love to be able to write a more accurate review of Dr. Mutterperl but considering the experience I just had over the phone with his receptionist, not only was I unable to get an appointment, but I will not be attempting to see him again. If I could give him zero stars I would. He almost killed my father multiple times.....yes he was in his 80's - but when he fell the emergency room doctors were told to give him morphine and send him home- in fact he had compression fractures that healed wrong and ruined his ability to drive and be independent. When my Dad had sodium issues- and was confused - he was told to see a shrink. He landed in the hospital nearly dead and dehydrated.....Mutterpearl's partner Ipolito told them to give him an Imodium and send him home. Had the family not been there they would have discharged him. Still my Dad believed in him and was his patient for a very, very long time. We promised my Father we would not do anything or say anything while he was alive- but now that he is gone I need to warn anyone and everyone- do not trust your elderly parent or relative with him. He is dismissive- does not return calls- and once my Dad moved out of town he never bothered to follow up to see if he was alive or dead. So if you are reading this Dr. Mutterpearl- Earl is dead- and his last few years were miserable and painful thanks to your indifference and poor handling of his very real health challenges. read more

Dr Mutterperl gets 4 stars for seeing my son on a walk-in basis today, on a moment's notice. Usually the doctor requires appointments for new patients. His receptionist Evelyn was very helpful in expediting this early morning appointment. Dr Mutterperl assessed my son with the use of a computer program, which I guess is the new thing in doctor's offices now; he checks off the symptoms and the computer generates the possible prescriptions. The downside to this office is the lack of parking; make sure you don't park directly in front of his office, as those spots are reserved for the other tenants of this garden apartment complex. I join Ronni D. and would give zero stars if I could. Stay away from Dr. Mutterperl and his partner, Dr. Ippolito, particularly if you are an older person. They will generalize and discount your symptoms and, as they did with my father, risk his life. They were so quick to tell me "your father is fine - he just has "issues"" that they mistreated him and created problems for him that didn't have to be there. My father had very real physical problems that were continually dismissed - rudely I may add - by both of these doctors. My father had a serious sodium imbalance that nearly killed him because Dr. Mutterperl was "unavailable" and Dr. Ippolito wanted to send him home when I brought him to the hospital. He was incredibly rude to me and I got the same, "Your father has issues!!!! There's nothing to keep him in a hospital. I'm sending him home." It was only because the emergency room doctor refused to send him home that he was treated. When my father fell and had fractured 3 vertebrae in his back, they never even ordered an x-ray. I was told he has spinal stinosis and he should get used to it! In the meantime, for the rest of my father's life, he suffered severe pain in his back and legs because he was not treated properly for the fractures. Dr. Mutterperl and Dr. Ippolito are really bad doctors. Find any other doctor in Bayonne. Stay away from these two! read more
