I bought myself a cheap facial on Groupon and went in to have it done this morning. The student that did it was Jazlyn. I have to say that it was higher quality than I expected. She did a better job than I would have ever guessed for a facial so cheap. I left feeling extra clean, moisturized, and glowing. The school isn't the cleanest or prettiest place, but it was a relaxing experience. If I'd paid full price, I would probably have given it 4 stars due to it not being nice looking. It took some time to get a callback for an appointment (about a week after I submitted an inquiry on the website) but I ended up having Mr. Mitsu Sato himself cut my hair. My straight Asian hair was past shoulder-length and it cost about $80, not including tip. I was worried about the price because when I was still at home, in true cheap Asian fashion I'd just have my mom do it. I review a haircut after it's had a little time to grow out so I can see if it maintains its style. And honestly, this is the best haircut I've had in my life. I got it cut just past ear-length, which for the first few days afterward I wasn't so sure about. I've never put effort into styling my hair and now I don't have to. It falls like I styled it effortlessly, which is amazing. I didn't even realize how annoying my cowlick was before, but after getting it cut, my cowlick stays put. This makes me look like I didn't just roll out of bed (even if I just have). It took ~1.5 hours, maybe less (my hair ended up being used as a bit of a lesson). Highly recommended for Asian hair if you don't mind spending a bit of $$$. read more

I came in for a facial, first time here but not my first facial. I found the experience to be a good one. The student introduced herself to me and then brought me to the prepared facial room. The set-up was a little strange, imagine a long hallway with side alcoves, each one a treatment room. They are curtained off to provide some privacy. When I was laying on the bed my feet were up against the curtains...so a very small space, but it was clean and softly lit and not too noisy. After asking a few basic questions the student excused herself to go get the right products. She explained each step and talked knowledgeably about the ingredients and benefits of each. She was very engaged in making sure the temperature of the towels was okay, the steam level was okay..etc. Facials I've had elsewhere included scalp massage and shoulder/arm moisturizer massage during the mask or steam steps, but not here. I got a groupon from here and the woman who did my facial, Nina, was amazing. She was kind, professional, and funny. If I could rate her personally it would 10/10. Unfortunately I wouldn't come back because atmosphere and customer service itself was awful. When I came in there was no greeting but a lot of women just sitting around. There was one cleaning nothing incessantly. This wouldn't have bothered me but I ended up standing at the front desk for 10 minutes with pretty much no interaction but a bunch of girls saying "that's not my job!". It was kinda awkward just standing there having them acknowledge me without ever actually saying anything. There was also another woman who came in shortly after who was greeted warmly by the woman cleaning nothing and after she greeted her she just sat down? I guess after 5 minutes of pressure of both customers just standing there they decide to get up and ask us to fill out these forms. When my amazing esthetician Nina came out she noticed they gave me the wrong form to fill out and gave me the correct form for a customized facial. The whole operation is just super disorganized. I am INCREDIBLY picky about my hair (I would hate to be my client!). I have always had a great experience at Mitsu Sato's- and for the price there is none better! Alicia was my stylist today....she was attentive to my needs and requests- and because of her talent my hair is crazy gorgeous :) I am particular about the foils, my color, the toner, even the way it is combed out and styled. Alicia was professional and courteous while being pleasant and fun. She was aware I was in a bit a time crunch but she still worked her amazing magic within the time frame. I couldn't be happier! I give the school 10 stars- never an unpleasant experience and always pleased with my hair and the service. I have been going to the school for years to get my hair cut and recently decided to switch to the salon instead. Both Roseanna and Mitsu have cut my hair, and they are both excellent. I don't know of any other Sassoon trained stylists in this area, and I'm really not interested in finding any--both Mitsu and Roseanna cut with precision, and it's not unusual to have strangers compliment my hair. This is a wonderful salon, Roseanne made me feel really welcome, and didn't offer me a "one size fits most" approach to a color. While other stylists in the past would insist on mixing red in with brown, by the time the towel came off, I wondered if they used any brown at all. Roseanne on the other hand went with the brown entirely, and I couldn't be happier with the results! She even did my eyebrows so they match the hair closer. Just a WARNING to anyone who's planning or thinking about making an appointment with this salon unless your appointment is with the owner Mr. Mitsu don't do it. The so called stylist a woman who's called ROSE ANNA don't do it you'll be sorry. Not only she ruins your hair and she charges you as high as she thinks you might be able to pay she's also a psycho. She ruined my hair so the next day I called the owner and he apologized for her and told me if I go back there he will try to correct and redo my hair. So I set up an appointment and I went there. Before he started working on my hair I handed my jacket to him and he hung it up somewhere on the wall with rest of the jackets and coats where I was sitting the jacket wasn't quite visible to me. This was the same jacket that I had on a few days ago when I had appointment with ROSE ANNA. While I was sitting I wasn't able to see my jacket with those big mirrors in front of me. While he was doing my hair I saw ROSE ANNA standing there looking at me with hatefulness. Later when he was done with my hair I grabbed my jacket and I left. I did not put back my jacket when I was leaving since it was kinda warm. Till the next day when I picked it up I was shocked what I saw. First I noticed a small straight shirt cut on the neck of the color. I was shocked coz it wasn't there yesterday. Then when I picked up the jacket I saw big and long cuts and laceration all over the jacket on the sleeves and the front and the back of the jacket. I went there fix the mess haircut that she gave me I ended up with a ripped jacket I guess this is her crazy way to show me not to ever complain about her or I'll be paying a bigger price. That was a worst haircut experience trying to deal with a totally a psycho woman. Just trying to give you all a very fair warning. I'd like anyone who reads that to know that I have nothing negative to say about the owner but to stay away from this psycho woman. Every year I travel from KC to Indiana to meet long time friends and ride the Hilly Hundred bike ride. It's like a class reunion for me and of course want to look my best. So, with a little gray showing, I decided to go in to my regular salon for a touch up. What happened next was bizarre. I went in blonde with a few dark roots and came out gray, green, and ash all over! Oh MY! Sad, Frustrated, embarrassed would be how I would describe how I felt. THANKFULLY I was put in touch with one of the owners of Mitsu Sato Salon. Did I mention this was at 6 p.m. in the evening and of course I had no appointment. I was welcomed with open arms and the confidence only found with a master colorist and professional!!!! I knew I was in good hands. Three hours later my hair wasn't just as good as before, it is beautiful! Creamy blonde with movement, dimension, and best of all.... the integrity of my hair was always her utmost concern. I dont go to salons often because im usually disappointed but much to my surprise i got great service at Mitsu Salon. The sylist there (Ciara Massey) made me feel at ease and listened to what I wanted. I got 7 inchs cut and styled to perfection and also changed my hair color. I will certainly return for follow ups with Ciara Massey in the future. scheduling was easy and they worked with me on that as well. Great staff, clean salon. read more
