It's been over 10 years and this is still my favorite space. Every time I sit in the chairs, I'm able to relax. Shaun has been consistent with my hair. People regularly compliment my locs. I just told someone last night that I have the best Sisterlock consultant in Kansas City, hands down. She's never done wrong by me. If she ever leaves KC, I'll just have to go with her. read more

The hairstylist are always nice and like to hold conversations. The inside is very clean and they love to keep it very professional. I have had my hair done by Shaun and Monique and i have never had anything bad to say about my hair. Very poor customer service. In the beginning I told the hairstylist I live 2 hours away. There was a chance for inclement weather and the beautician did not see the need to call me and let me know that shop would be closed. So I wasted time coming down, a hotel room for coming the night before to beat the potential weather for nothing. I would never imagine that if you are going to close your shop that you would not call your clients and let them know. How hard is that?! On top of that, the last time I went Monique half washed my starter locs and retwisted my locs with dandruff everywhere. I had to sit in the car and pick visibly noticeable dandruff out of my hair. Which was a task due to whatever sticky junk she put in my hair. One top of that I left a message on the phone and sent a message through messenger which they have not bothered to return. SIMPLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! They should be ashamed of themselves and I am highly disappointed. So if you want to be treated like a number then Your Natural Image is the place to go. However, there are to many other salons in the area to bother with this one. Save yourself the trouble and go with one of them instead. You had one job!!!! read more

I was very impressed with O'Shaya's hair care skills. I also liked how I could easily book my appointment online; you can also cancel online "easy peasy." The web service also sends reminders prior to and I received a call prior to my appointment. AWESOME customer service!! When you arrive there is a free consultation paper that you will fill out. Services range from $30-200+ The shop is very clean and everyone is extremely friendly. There are snacks for sale and two flat screen televisions and plenty of magazines. My appointment was promptly at 1330 and I was out by 1500 (1.5 hours). I got a wash, deep condition and trim for $50 which I felt was extremely reasonable. O'Shaya listened to my needs, had attention to detail and was very pleasant. I tipped 15% and will definitely would come back and or refer my friends. PLEASE tip your artists/local businesses. I have been here 4 times. First two times for natural hair services and last two for extensions. I went in for a 360 frontal install. Wasn't done correctly the first time, no problem. Went back in to redone. Still wasn't done correctly. Went back to get a refund, the owner insisted I get in redone, but at that point I was already frustrated and the frontal had been cut too much. After much debate, eventually she agreed to a full refund. Some time has passed. Unfortunately, I only recieved a partial refund. It makes me sad to write this review. read more

I was contacted by the salon to come back and get my braids done for free and have my $85 refunded from the second visit. Like I previously stated I really want to like this salon and said, why not... This time the owner Lashaun did my braids. I'm more than satisfied with the quality of her work and the fact she cared enough to resolve the issue. Unlike the previous braids that survived for 3 days these will stay in my hair for weeks to come. I did not get charged for this appointment. I look forward to spending money here in the future. Getting passed the previous issues I can actually compliment the salon on cleanliness, relaxing environment, smells good, and the staff is very pleasant. I absolutely love this salon! LaShaun is awwsome and fast with the sisterlocs. I personally have regular locs but watching her you can tell she comes to slay!! I love that after getting my hair washed they massage your scalp! Ooooowwweeee this always does me in! Theu also believe in ACV so all around this is a place of healing. You come in looking huet and leave looking like Beyonce's twin natural sister. While you are there try a massage and get your nails done, you won't regret it. Now only bad thing about them being so good, they rarely have openings. You must book ahead sometime 2 months in advance. So sometimes I might have to use my stand-by stylist. read more

The salon is very nice looking, clean, and in a great location. However, once I started talking to the stylists, my perception of Your Natural Image changed completely. I hesitate to say that the stylists are prejudiced against people who may not necessarily want to go natural, but that's certainly how it felt. It seemed as though I was getting 2nd class treatment because I wasn't sporting natural hair or wanting to transition. I understand that this is a salon focused on natural hair, but I called ahead to make sure that my relaxed hair was not a problem. I was assured that they were happy to work on all types of hair. Not only was this aspect unprofessional and unwelcoming, but the stylist giving me my consultation was constantly interrupted by another stylist who already had someone in her chair. All in all, not a great experience. Will not return, would not recommend. read more

I have been meaning to write a review about Your Natural Image for several...weeks..years EVEN. I have been going to the Owner for several years and she has remained consistent in her practice and profesionalism as a stylist. AND there are two other women in the salon that are excellent also! Their website is AWESOME. Their rates page is detailed so you don't have to wonder or guess about any service. I have gone to this stylist for kinky twist extensions and natural hair styles. The atmosphere of the salon is CLEAN, relaxed but not unprofessional (cursing, loud music, entourage of on-lookers). There is a person to greet you as you come in the door AND they sell the products that they use on your hair in the salon. I would love it if other long time (b/c there are many) clients of this salon and new clients would also write reviews of their great experience at Your Natural Image. read more

Staff is nice, hair salon favors for older people. Would only recommend going here if you want dreads. The place is extremely expensive for no reason and everything is an add-on service. If you go get your hair washed I'm sure you have to pay an extra $50 for a blow dry and more for a style versus the old fashioned price with a wash and style included. Came here to get two strand twist and ended up taking them down the same day. Ladies! Either stick with who you have or try somewhere else! I've been going to Your Natural Image for a while. I now only go for a few services specifically wash and goes and other basic natural styles. I use to go there frequently for sew ins, but I don't like negotiating about how much hair to put in my head. It seems the owner Shaun does not like to put a lot of hair when she does sew ins (maybe because it takes more time?). If I'm paying for a service, I expect for it to be done the way I ask. read more

Everyone was very kind when my friend and I walked in, but the attitude changed soon after we started our consultation. I had called prior to, making sure they would work with our hair texture because I had a relaxer few months ago and my friend had had one a few weeks ago. Once we were discussing those factors at the consulatation, one of the stylists "welcomed me to the sisterhood" because I don't plan on getting another relaxer anytime soon. This was very insulting to me, especially considering how she shut out my friend due to her hair texture. They were more about proving that their knowledge was right rather than talking us through our concerns, questions and hair-desires. I would not suggest this salon for anyone who has had a relaxer at all. read more
