I would improve EVERYTHING. From the 3 hr wait ( consistent). Daughter, spouse, myself : 3 hrs. To NOT giving you a prescription for glasses unless you go back a SECOND time. To ordering the wrong FRAMES for the lenses and having to wait weeks bc they cannot manufacture glasses with frames too fragile for the lenses. Just everything. Terrible experience for the three of us and my husband who fell for the SECOND visit anomaly in order to get a prescription (!!) is still waiting for glasses 3 weeks later. I wrote a very bad review for Mittelman Eye. The person that responded to my review said it's very common for people to have cataracts early on. Yes, I understand that completely. But since I left middlemen and I've gone to another eye doctor two years in a row, my eyesight has not changed, and I still do not have cataracts. The oddest eye exam by Mittelman EYE in WB. I went to Mittelman Eye with my husband last week. We both needed glasses. My exam took 3 hours. My husband's longer than that. There was just one doctor seeing patients. Both my husband and were told we would NOT get glasses prescriptions after the THREE HOURS spent there, mostly waiting. The reason for this very odd inability to get a prescription after the exam was explained to both of us by different employees. The reason was that they would bill our Medicare and secondary insurance for the exams. In the next few days, or next day, we would RETURN to Mittelman Eye and have a 5 minute "exam" where Mittelman would use our separate VISION CARE INSURANCE and we would then receive a prescription for eye glasses. I questioned this, the repeated procedure, the useless second exam. The billing of THREE different insurance companies to get a very simple reading prescription for one eye. A clerk tried to brain wash me comparing my eye doctor visit to a Primary Care visit. I retorted by saying "I go to the Primary Care doctor and there is no need to return the next day and BILL another insurance company for the SAME EXAM". Conclude what you will. Needless to say l immediately decided not to go back. Today I received a letter in the mail from Mittelman Eye stating they will no longer accept me as a patient because we have "Different philosophies". We certainly do. It is no wonder our insurance premiums keep climbing due in part to this kind of practice. No stars, but I must rate it 1! read more

Eye examination and measurement in preparation for cataract surgery. So far everyone I've had any contact with has been wonderful. I've had my eyes measured and my date with the doctor is coming up and I have dates in May to have both eyes done. I haven't known what to expect, but they certainly put my mind at ease. MY LICENSE WAS STOLEN AT MITTLEMAN EYE! My husband and I, both doctors, went for our initial visit. We both gave our licenses and insurance information. The woman at the desk was distracted by someone else in the office as she reached out for my license and insurance cards. After filling out all required pages on the Ipad, I was handed back ONLY my insurance information. My license was nowhere to be found. I went there and had a full eye exam because I was having pain behind my eyes. Some type of eye strain. I thought they did a full examination and told me I have cataracts. We talked about cataract surgery and I said I'll think about it and that was it. When I called to talk about my prescription for my eyes, they told me I had to pay $75. For what? I wanted to get glasses. Why would I have to pay $75 for a prescription if you did a full eye exam. I called and they said it was because I had a medical examination. Well, I went to an eye doctor today because my left eye is very painful when it feels like something is in it and I had green flashes while I was driving. This was for 3 days. Going to the eye doctor this morning and they did a full exam and told me I have the beginnings of glaucoma, macula generation and I have cataracts. Why wasn't I told this at my visit to Middleman? You told me referred me to an auto neurologist? No one referred me anywhere. It's one big assembly line and a money maker. $75 to get my prescription for glasses basically holding my prescription as Ransom. I will be calling my insurance and notifying them of the negligence. read more

my elderly mother had followup in office laser treatment to remove the "clouds" after cataract surgery several years prior. Coincidentally, she now sees double vision and has been told to see a specialist because Mittleman does not address double vision. read more

Doctors visit with wife went reasonably well- first panic in that they called me into office with great concerns but then with results not so bad. Real problem came with Rx, after insurance co gave approval , one would have thought Doc office would have followed up Ok they didn't but when we did they said Rx had to go to compounding pharmacy not our local Walgreens and that compounding pharmacy would call and arrange to deliver. Two follow up phone calls to Mittleman Dept and nothing forthcoming after two weeks. Very disappointing, we're going elsewhere going forward. read more

If you like taking care of your eyes like purchasing from a used car salesman you will love this place. They are all about cash!! My insurance pays for cataract surgery and the lens however, they high pressure you on all kind of things you do not need. The only person there that was any good was the tech. He told me everything including all results of the testing he did. (be sure to ask). He told me I definitely did not have glaucoma. Just cataract in both eyes but one did not even need removed and I do see fine from that eye. But when I got taken upstairs for the next so-called dr. I was told I was very suspicious for glaucoma and would need to be tested prior to both my cataracts being removed. I told this female doctor (with a long blonde ponytail) that I have been checked 3 times including 10 minutes prior to seeing her, and was told I did not have it. She wanted to know who told me that and got quite angry. Then she told me that my root nerve of my eye leading to my brain COULD be larger than it should but they wouldn't know until there was more testing. I told her there would be no testing on glaucoma or this root nerve, period. Then she passed me on to another guy that took me in an office to have me pay for extra items that aren't necessary. He said that is the way they do things there and I would need to pay. I told him I was done. He was angry I would not give him additional money right there. This place is a major scam. I couldn't tell you about having a cataract removed there since I never got that far. I laughed in his face and said sell someone else your used car, I'm not interested. Please if you are taking an elderly parent or attending someone's appointment make sure they don't fall for the scams. Also Dr. Mittleman was not even going to do the surgery since I was told he doesn't do it. It would be another doctor. WHAT A JOKE!! This office is the bomb. The main/first waiting room is light and spacious, with lots of (comfy) chairs and several double-wide chairs (a respectful touch). A mounted tv was set to Disney, Jr when I visited. A large/tall magazine rack held a lot of magazines. The second, smaller waiting room, where you go after your eyes are dilated, has large (shaded) windows, another mounted tv and a rack of diverse magazines. The offices are modern with sleek office equipment. The walls throughout the suite are covered in gorgeous, blown-up photography. I really appreciated seeing these instead of boring, office-type paintings or 'educational' material. Everything was clean. Even the bathroom was spotless! read more

Worst experience ever! My appointment was for 3:00 and I finally got into the exam room at 5:10! When DrMittelman came in and asked how I was doing I said I was a little unhappy that I had to wait for 2 hours without anyone coming in to say anything to me. I found Mittleman Eye while doing a search for Ophthalmologist and I went to Mittleman because it was the nearest to my home. I was surprised at the size of the building, having been accustomed to a small doctor's office. I was also impressed with the people who worked there - their efficiency, courtesy and their treatment of patients. It's as if you DO matter and not feigned. Terrible - waiting 3 1-2 hours for your booked appt after many refused to wait any longer and left!

The office is busy, yes, but the care is excellent. They diagnosed and treated an issue I had which was never caught by my prior physician. Very thorough! Dr. Eden is extremely pleasant and very knowledgeable, seems amenable to taking his time and discussing your problems. If you want a contact lens and glasses exam make sure you request both when scheduling. The office staff are very competent. Admittedly I didn't care for one optometrist I saw. He did a good job but his attitude could be improved upon! read more

This office reminds me of a car dealership - Very nice to look at, big smiles on the matching staff members, terrible wait times and with no expectations set or updates from anyone you ask. There is two separate waiting rooms in the front and back to make it seem like your moving through but you'll wait twice as long in both of them. This is my third time here and my last. I've been to both locations, both operate the same. This practice has grown too large and even with all the staff everywhere you look, the workflow is jammed and there's always a long wait. read more

So just had my yearly exam here but forgot to get the paper with my prescription for contacts- which hadn't changed from the year before. Called back and they refused to give it to me without making another appointment to see the optician!!! It was literally 48 hours later that I called. I have always seen an ophthalmologist and gotten my prescriptions at the time of my exams. And literally the year before was given my prescription during my exam here. According to other sources they are forcing you to pay for another dr visit/exam for that little piece of paper by having an optician write it out for you!!! I think it's outrageous. That's why I go every year, for an exam and to renew my prescription. Needless to say I am not going back, and letting others know do not expect to walk out with your prescription when you schedule your eye exam. read more

Went to the Jupiter office. This place is a factory. Went for what I thought was a sty and they insisted I do a complete eye exam even though I have an opthamologist in another state. Even though everyone treated me nicely, I was there for 2 1/2 hours, saw at least 3 different people, and they wanted me to come back for another test two weeks later and gave me antibiotics for a sty. The day before my appointment I called to make sure I was going to see a doctor for a follow up and not just have more tests because my eye wasn't better. I tried to explain this to the person on the phone and he wasn't listening to me and he told me I wasn't listening to him! I just wanted to cancel the test and see a doctor to find out what was wrong which he could not promise. I will never go back there again. So frustrating! read more

This practice is like visiting an auto dealer. For example, all the help, in a beautiful office, told me I needed imminent cataract surgery, except the doctor, who said I could wait a year. Wonder where they studied Opthalmology? I've had this experience with other practices in Florida before, they have a captive audience and just keep making non insurable money. Of course, the $5000.00 per eye lenses were recommended. I thought all the crooks were inNY, but miss my NY doctors a lot. Cataracts, dental implants and other procedures not covered by insurance seem to be the businesses to be in $$$. I'm sure the medical care is good, but felt like I was being railroaded for a payoff, rather than medical care. PS After paying a $50 copay there was a $25 fee if you wanted a copy of your prescription. Please, go to Costco. read more

I had written a negative review about my experience at the Eye Clinic, but after meeting with the Optical Manager in person and clearing a misunderstanding, my husband and I were satisfied with the outcome. I have to say I am surprised at any negative reviews. From my first phone call all the way through my first surgery I have been amazed how well everything runs, how efficient everyone is. I was able to get an appointment as soon as I wanted one. Once in the office Tara checked me in efficiently and promptly. I was taken for my first exam by Zach, he explained everything he was doing and helped me understand my eye sight and problems. Michelle and Dr. Justina Vasiliauskas examined my eyes and had Raul fit me into his examine schedule. Albert moved heaven and earth to get my eye surgery done with in my time frame. On my follow visits everything was done efficiently, everything was explained in great detail. I did see lots of people, but I appreciate that each person was an expert in their job had a part to play in the whole system. Everyone worked together to make sure my every need was taken care of, everyone was pleasant and seemed happy in their job. I have never been happier with an eye practice. i have had my first surgery and can finally see on my right side again. I cannot say enough good things about Mittleman Eye. The office is well appointed and efficiently run. I was seen on time or just a few minutes after all of my scheduled appointment times. The staff is very pleasant . Doctor Mittleman is great. He is pleasant and answers all my concerns. But the best part is his competence in the performance of my cataract surgery. I had both eyes done with the multifocal lenses a week apart. No pain swelling or complications and the best part is that within 5 days of each surgery I had 20/20 vision in both eyes. Distance, mid range and reading are all PERFECT. I can't believe the result . I have been telling all my senior friends about this office and recommend it to everyone. Unprofessional office and staff. Loud, disorganized and extremely over booked. Minimal time I spent in office for appts with ophthalmologist, retinologist, optometrist, 2-3hours. Time with MD,DO is about 5 minutes unless you insist Mittleman answer questions, at which time he is walking out the door and disinterested. He is willing, initially, of course if you want to discuss upgraded lens implants not covered by insurance.Post op responses are "your brain needs to adapt" regardless of issues! After 9 months the Retinologist recommended Restasis but deferred Rx to Mittleman who insisted on numerous tests AGAIN, only to finally write Rx and charge ins. for all excessive testing. Mittleman is extremely arrogant, financially focused yet denies knowledge of billing. Out of pocket billing is not explained in detail, very rushed after you decide on implant, i.e. Mittleman owns a share of the surgi-center which charges add'l fees. Following down payment, no further questions are answered. 99% of technicians told me they are trained on the job with very little experience. No one could explain purpose of testing, which is performed unrelated to purpose of post op visits I was not allowed to speak with Mittleman on the phone or even leave messages (medical questions) for MD. when post op issues arose. Scheduling is deplorable. Only staff (non-medical) return calls. Only technicians answer questions regarding use of prescription or OTC eye drops and they admittedly reply based on their personal experiences. They do not inquire from Mittleman. All act as if they fear him making multiple personal excuses for running late yet complaining to patient when they have to stay late due to appts running over!! I sincerely pity the numerous patients who don't speak up and complain to MD or staff, but only to other patients. Medicare is getting ripped off. Majority of website positive reviews appear to come from staff. Mittleman's vision is 20/20 $$$$$$$$$$$$ read more

I was referred to Mittleman Eye Center by my Humana Medicare Advantage plan and they picked a winner. I've had two cataracts removed and received excellent care, at the center in West Palm Beach and at the Jupiter office. The staff is friendly and helpful. Dr. Ortiz is a terrific doctor. Another thing to mention is how they keep you informed and are always asking if you have any questions. I will continue using Mittleman Eye and I highly recommend them.
