He reported I had high cholesterol scores which could lead to stroke heart attack, and he then proceeded to go over the 30 other blood test results and when I wanted to go back to the one that he flagged as a problem high cholesterol and he said oh, he already told me the score. Very dismissive. I tried writing down the scores he told me don't bother he would give me the sheet. He asked why I wasn't coming every six months and I said I wasn't aware there was a problem. I asked to see last year's score and they couldn't do that due to a computer glitch. He seemed annoyed that I wanted to ask questions I told him I didn't appreciate that and then he stated it seemed we're having problems communicating. At that point I just said we've always had this problem and then he just got up left room and terminated me as a patient. When I first started seeing him his niece would come into write notes on each visit. I recommend he go back to that.

Unfortunately, he won't be available at that time and we do need to move your appointment time up to an earlier time. If you could give us a call back at 727-527-5272 option four thank you." I always ask for one of the last appointments of the day. I found out the day before that the doctor won't be there for my appointment and being told I'll need to move my appointment to an earlier time didn't work for me. I called back on 2/1/2021 around 4pm thinking I could get one of the last appointments of the day a different day even if it's not until the following week or so. The female scheduler started to give me a 3:30pm appointment on February 9th but then said "Oh I actually can't provide you with that time. We can offer an 8:30am appointment on February 9th though." I told her I need the latest appointment again. She said that I'd have to call back and try again the following day. When I questioned this I was then informed that they have to schedule appointments in time order "so that they doctors are not sitting around waiting for patients." I questioned this again. They apparently now book appointments in a time order and if I want one of the later appointment times, I would have to keep calling back in hopes the appointments before 3pm have been taken. I expressed my frustration in this system. It feels like a radio talk show to win tickets and you're calling to try to the 5th caller. The female schedule stated it is because of COVID and so the doctors aren't having time gaps in their schedule. She then transferred me to Maggie, the team lead, and she said the same thing. I then called back on 2/2/2021 around 8am and asked to speak to the office manager and was transferred to HR. I spoke to Adaira ( I could be spelling her name wrong possibly) and I explained what happened the day before and my frustration with the situation between my appointment being changed the day before after being schedule ahead of time and then my frustration with trying to reschedule. Adaira stated she would get with DJ and see what could be done. I then had a voicemail from Maggie, the team lead, on 2/2/2021 at 8:32am stating "Hi this message is for Aubrey I was calling you back from all Florida orthopedic. This is Maggie from the scheduling department we spoke yesterday about your late appointment um I did call DJ which is Dr. Hirshmans scheduler and she did approve an appointment next Tuesday at 3:30 um she says that we can keep you at that time um but unfortunately we don't have anything today. He has three emergency cases at Saint Anthony's um so we wouldn't be able to do a late appointment today anyway um but if you want to come in next Tuesday on the ninth um just give us a call back we can book you at 3:30. So if you do call back in and you get anybody they will know to put you in at 3:30 um if you have any questions feel free to call 727-527-5272 option four." I did not call back and at this time I won't see this doctor or practice going forward.

I am a huge proponenet of "old school" doctors that actually listen to your concerns, share their expertise, and together come up with a plan that will work for you not only in that moment, but also in the long run. His office staff is caring, and gets you to where you need to be. It may take some time, but you will get there. All in all, he's a very kind, compassionate human who wants the best for his patients. Yes it may be a long wait to see him once you're in the examination room, don't worry, the wait is worth it!!!

He's a very nice person and the staff in his office are also pleasant. But from a quality of care perspective, you should find another primary care physician. I made my appointment as a new patient a year ago. As is the case with US healthcare, I had to wait months for my appointment. My initial appointment, even though I had health concerns, was mostly just a meet and greet and filling out paperwork, including records request for prior doctors and specialists. And that was it. Paid a copay, and they billed my insurance company. Second visit was 4 months or so later. This was to give Dr Carlson time to review prior records. When I showed up, again, no exam at all. Dr Carlson spoke briefly about the records he received and wanted to send me out for blood work, even though I had blood work already. Turns out they didn't receive records from everyone, including a specialist who had just done an extensive blood panel a month or so prior. So, Dr Carlson sent me on my way while they attempted to get that paperwork. Had me schedule another appt in 4 months. Copay and insurance billed again, for nothing. Fast forward to this past week and my last appointment. Dr Carlson spent most of the time talking about all of the data he received from the specialist. And while he did ask me if I had any health concerns, he told me my questions were good ones for the specialist and I should ask him. He also suggested getting another opinion on my issues. But that was it. Once again, no exam. However, this time he said he was going to bill this as my annual physical because then I won't have a copay. I don't know why I didn't say anything then and there. I should have. But that's 3 visits. 3 times billing my insurance company and two copays. And one of them billing as an annual physical without giving me any type of exam. What kind of doctor or medical practice is this? How do you have me come in 3 times without giving me any kind of exam? Apparently, they are just here to bill your insurance as much as possible. People come to primary care doctors specifically to help find any issues early, but you can't detect issues in advance of them becoming problems if you don't conduct basic health exams. Moreover, the visits he had me come for could have all been handled in advance of any visit. The office could have contacted me at any time before my first visit to have me fill out records releases. And if any records didn't show up timely, they could have contacted me to follow up with those other doctors. That would have eliminated the need for those first two visits. Instead, they were inefficient - presumably because they just wanted to needlessly and endlessly bill my insurance. Anyway, long story short, Dr Carlson is a nice man and maybe a good doctor, but the way this practice is run is horrible. It's clearly more about billing your insurance and collecting your copay than it is about your health. Don't waste a year of your life like I did. Go somewhere else for your PCP needs.

Today July 8th I received a bill for 25.00 for the post opt boot again. Do not trust the doctors or the people who work at all Florida orthopedics.

A month goes by, I get the appointment, I drive an hour, there's traffic, and I'm 16 minutes late. After waiting in line for patients to check in, I'm 22 minutes late. Dr. Bell still won't see me, and I'm out of medicine. Instead, he wants his $100. I ask the front desk if I still have to pay if I'm not rescheduling with them, I'm out of medicine, and i showed up fine to their "first" appointment they told me incorrectly about? Yep yep yep, still wants his $100 because I'm late this time. Dr. Bell is out of touch. $100 might not be a lot to him, but it's certainly making bills a lot more difficult for me.
