While expensive, this place actually knows how to do pizza right. Sauce was flavorful, ingredients were fresh and high quality, and the whole vibe is just right. SPQR opens at 5:30pm but as we must have looked a little hungry we were let in early with a request that if we would like the window seat could we be out in 90 mins as the table had been booked. No Problem! Obviously, the waiter won our hearts for taking pity on us but he was also very attentive whilst setting up the place with the other staff. The seated area was in two levels. The upper level was near the bar and the lower level (lower than street level) was at the window. There was also another area as you walked in where you could have pizza by the slice and a drink and stand right next to the DJ. The pizzas were excellent. The dough was interesting as it was thin in the middle with a chewy crust. We did make pigs of ourselves and had three pizzas between two of us. They were just so nice.

When we got the urge for pizza, +39 came into mind. There were no reservations available online for the last minute decision so we decided to try to walk-in. It was 515pm when we showed up and they told us they would need the table back by 630pm. Not a problem I said and I was right. We were out of there by 545pm. But we didn't feel rushed at all! The food just came out so fast, hot and delicious. The tables are set up nicely, crammed in without feeling too crowded. I love the specials wall and watching the people in the back cook the pizzas. Service was really good, I'm not sure if it's because they wanted the table back or if it's because they're just good. I'm going to go with the latter because I saw good service with other tables as well. This meal felt really authentic. I've never been to Italy but I've tried a lot of Italy-Italian food and this place ranks pretty high up there. I forgot how much a cocktail with amaretto and lime is sooooooo good. I forgot how hot salami might be better than pepperoni. I forgot that arugula salad with balsamic glaze goes so well with red sauce pizza. Pro tip? Order the lasagna croquettes and keep the sugo for your pizza crust and some of that fresh grated parm for your pizza.

Eggplant dip. Get it. Get it now…read more I'm kind of tempted to leave the review at that to be honest...but I won't. This unsuspecting place turned out to be quite delightful. It was packed on a Saturday night so book ahead. The starter of bread and eggplant dip was amazing. I probably could have just had that and been happy. The main of Kibbeh Meklieh was quite filling with amazing flavours throughout. Our other main of Coussa was a total let down however. It was the most expensive item we ordered and at $17.50, I would have expected more than three small pieces. The flavour was nice enough, but it was completely overpriced and underwhelming compared to the other items on the menu. My dining partner has been there several times for lunch so it's interesting to note that many of the dishes are offered as wraps during the day for nearly half the price - and larger serves. I would certainly go back because the flavours are bang on - might just stick to daylight hours to make it better value.

I'll start this review with the proverbial "Hella Good is hella good."…read more We came here to this area to do some shopping while we were in town, and this place grabbed my attention. The wait was definitely not for very long. We got a pager that buzzed pretty soon after we wandered off. For those who are/were unfamiliar as myself (being American on holiday), Hella Good is a place that serves Mediterranean-style wraps with pita bread filled with meat, veggies, and very delicious sauce. I got the Arnie, which includes the lamb leg meat. It was good. I don't know how it compares to other local offerings since this was one of a kind during our trip. FYI: - When you charge your card, it gives you a choice between charging in AUD or your home country's currency. And it's totally authentic (you're in Campbellfield, after all.) We've been here a few times and have gotten a variety of dishes. Staff knows what "vegan" means and will be sure to make your food without dairy or egg as long as you specify it when ordering. We've tried a few things on the menu, but I like the vegetarian plate, which comes with 7 falafel balls, hummus, and foul, as well as some pickled turnips. (Foul is a dish made from fava beans, chickpeas, and lemon oil -- an interesting flavour that I wasn't used to before I started eating foul. I like it, but maybe it's a bit of an acquired taste.) Their falafels are made using "grandma's recipe" and are light, fluffy, and fresh-tasting -- not heavy or greasy like from a kebab shop. Very nice falafels. The vegetarian plate will set you back $12 and is heaps of food. Cheeeeeeap. You can also get a falafel wrap for a mere $5, or a more exotic Iraqi falafel wrap that comes with Iraqi bread and pickled-mango "ambah" sauce. (I haven't tried this yet.) My boyfriend always gets the hummus fatteh (called "tesiyeh" in some countries, like Syria) -- which is a hummus-yogurt type of dish. Unfortunately, they don't have a dairy-free version of this, so it's not vegan. Definitely stop in at Falafel Moudy if you are hungry and want some excellent vegetarian Middle Eastern food on the cheap!

Melbourne kebab station was recommended by a friend of mine for their tasty meat cooked on a gyros but most importantly they were recommended for being the home of one of the best halal snack packs. Crispy chips covered in cheese topped with your choice of lamb, chicken or both, smothered with garlic, chilli and bbq sauces. A bit heavy on the bbq sauce but it can always be tweaked to your liking. We even saw some customers ask to have hummus added on top, so there are a number of extras you can play with to customise the meal the way you want it. Both complimented each other well, nothing was overpowering, it all just went went well together. Compared to another kebab shop, the meat was more juicy, and the sauce had a better consistency for what you were eating. It wasn't too thick, and it wasn't runny or lacking taste.
