Kelly sets the bar high, like real high, like ya girl can't even find a waxer in LA that comes close to Kelly...like seriously I cannot drive 8 hours just to get waxed, even though I would but seriously... I've gone to Kelly for years for my eyebrows and Brazilian. I am forever changed because of her! My favorite parts about hot wax studio, 1. Kelly, of course! She is incredibly humble and has vast knowledge on hair removal techniques. Not to mention she is a wonderful communicator (speaking and listening) and personally I feel really safe with people who communicate as well as she does. I've had consistent higher than my expectations results from her Brazilians and eyebrows. To me, Kelly tailors to how her clients are feeling that day. One day post quarantine my downstairs lady parts were like a wild yet sacred forest. Kelly assured me she would go slower and she is aware that we have been under special circumstances so it calls for special techniques. She is truly a master at her craft and I trust this woman with my most sensitive places. 2. The studio. It's super posh and down to earth. Lots of cozy fluffy accents. It is sparkling clean since Kelly is Barbicide certified. I feel comfortable being in her studio with all the protocols she already had pre-lockdown and the additional ones she added post. 3. I really appreciate the way Kelly handles her business. Hot wax studio is a one woman show. She makes me feel so comfortable and she walks me through what she is doing. She is calm, grounded, and takes the time to share her knowledge with me. One of the things I super appreciate is how she turns on a movie so I can zone out and she can focus on her craft. Her telling me when to inhale and exhale if she is going to pull a sensitive part is also one of my favorites too! She also makes recommendations for aftercare, which I never had to do when I was younger, but now have adopted the practice and the results are very rewarding. 4. Have you ever heard the saying, "eyebrows are sisters and not twins"? My orbital bone is a little off on one side. Prior to Kelly that was a the eyebrow sister saying was common for me to hear but being the magical being Kelly is, she makes my eyebrows look more like twins than sisters. She leaves them groomed and full and always asks at the end if I would like more taken off. The only downside is that I moved from the area and have yet to find an esthetician that is like Kelly. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood I always make an appointment online to see her. Seriously, Kelly you are such a beautiful human being and an amazing beauty technician magician! I love you! It looked okay when styled in the salon, but once I got home it was obvious how uneven, awkward, choppy, and over-thinned one side had become. My hair no longer falls naturally or smoothly, and the ends now look frayed and damaged rather than cleanly cut. I have honestly never been this dissatisfied with a haircut before. I ended up having to go to another stylist to try to fix it, and even they told me there's only so much that can be corrected right now without taking off even more length. I was advised not to cut my hair again for several months so it can grow back enough density to reshape properly. I also think clients should be clearly warned before razor cutting or aggressive texturizing techniques are used, especially on very fine hair, since many people may not realize how dramatically it can change the texture and density of the cut. If you have very fine hair, I would strongly recommend being extremely cautious about razor cutting or aggressive texturizing techniques.

Not worth the $400 hair cut & color. I had a consultation with Ally and I showed her pictures of what I was going for and the color I wanted and that went fine, no problems, but when I got done with my official appointment my hair didn't turn out how I wanted it from the photo. It was a 5 hour appointment and I paid $220 plus 20% tip for her time. A couple days go by and I compared the photo of what I wanted and my result and decided to ask her to fix it. I didn't clarify beforehand if the fix would be free of charge because that's been my experience at salons but no, not this time. I spent another $140 to leave the salon with still not really what I was going for and now it's been a month and still not impressed and pretty mad honestly that I spent that much money and got a result far from what I wanted but maybe it's not all her fault, maybe she thinks she did a good job or that she just did what she wanted, the photos I brought in of what I wanted didn't matter, maybe she doesn't have much experience, heck, she was the first person I made an appointment with since moving to a new area but I figured this salon could do better but I should've done more research. The color is so subtle hardly anybody has noticed I changed my hair and to spend $400 I definitely would've wanted it to be noticeable and receive lots of compliments-it's pretty disappointing.
