This company is a total rip-off. I paid for 8 vents--they installed only 7 and never came back to finish the job. I was promised a warranty which I paid for ,but when I called to verify it, I learned the AC unit wasn't even registered. Turns out, they installed a random off-brand unit I never agreed to! I also never received a receipt, paperwork, or any proof of warranty--nothing. Just took the money and disappeared. When I tried reaching out, I was ignored. Be very aware of this so called licensed plumber named Mike from M&J heating. Plain and simple he's a scammer. Let's start off with the fact he's alway asking for cash upfront. When it comes to receipts he's super late on giving one if he ever does give one and it's never itemized. Very generic and vague. And always messes it up wrong spelling on name or wrong address. He almost never wants to receive a check and if he really has to he makes a huge deal about it. For his work, he puts in parts you don't need, doesn't listen to what you have to say or want, he's very messy, never cleans up after himself, unprepared as in doesn't always have all the tools he needs and ends up borrowing yours, an item that was placed in that we didn't want in the first place ended up breaking after a year, had another plumber come in, take the new broken water heater out and place what we wanted in, and stated saw many code violations from what Mike did. And to end it off, now for the past month has been unreachable. Phone goes straight to voicemail, either he blocked us or completely changed his whole number. Tried reaching him from other phone numbers and goes straight to voicemail as well. Something really strange and fishy with him. Definitely not recommendable. One more thing. Do not use MJ heating and air conditioning in Staten Island. Mike said he needed $800 upfront which he would only accept it on cash app or cash, for tools. Now why would someone who works in that line of work not have the tools he needs to do a simple job, right then I knew I got scammed, that was my mistake. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and he came back the next day to see why I had a leak under my thermostat. Turns out the only problem was the tray on the side that the hose connects to needed cleaning. He only used dawn soap and a towel to clean it, not worth the 1,345 I paid this man to fix an issue that he created. He tweaked my ac unit to make it look like the thermostat expansion valve was squirting out water because after he left without fixing it I checked the valve and there was no leak, so he made me pay upfront $545 to buy another valve that we didn't even need. He couldn't find a store open that day to buy the valve he needed because it was a Sunday but than later that day he said he had a job in NJ and found a valve that cost more than what I gave him so he asked for another $108. I told him no i already paid you twice the money I should have paid you for a job I could have done myself. He said ok he will be back Monday at 10 to install the new valve, Monday at 9:45 I get a text saying he's running late and will be there in an hour, never said why he was running late, after 3 hrs passed I said how much longer? He said oh another hour, he's waiting for the part to be sent from Jersey, but he already told me he was an hour away. I told him to refund me for the valve because we didn't need a new valve anyway. He said he already paid for it, I told him get a refund and cash app me the money for the valve, I didn't bother asking for a refund for the $800 because I know damn well he wasn't going to refund me for either. He said he'll go to get the money back from the supply shop after a call he was on, never told me he was on another job. Also he doesn't have invoices so you won't get a receipt from him. Don't get scammed like I did. Any other company would be a better choice than this scammer. He said he would refund me the money for the valve but never did nor do I expect him to. Do not trust this company! They are complete scammers! Recently hired them to install a AC/heating unit. They demanded that I pay upfront to purchase the unit for installation and that once received the work would start the following day. However, when paid, the next day he said the unit he got was broken and had to order and from the manufacturer because it was out of stock which will take longer. Then his truck broke down on the day of installation two weeks later! Once I requested a refund for my deposit. They came to clean my A/C unit. I found it weird that they checked my furnace first but I thought they were very nice and did a good job and i left them a great review. 4 months later my furnace wasn't working. I find out later that they turned my furnace off purposely within the furnace, so they would get a call back. Very disappointed with their trickery. read more

Do not use this guy or company. Job was supposed to be done in one day was stretched out over four days. Doesn't clean up or repair his mess. Doesn't know what he's doing because everything was installed improperly. Including no connectors for romex wires at all. Wires were just pushed through holes. No conduit on wires exposed to outside elements . No coverings for wires in wall. Wrong pipe connections. And much more. Now that job was done and I saw his mistakes he doesn't answer ant txts calls or emails. I will be seeing him in court if he doesn't correct this for sure and will be getting all my money back.
