I wish I could give 0 stars…read more I wanted a whole home humidifier installed in my apartment. Jim's son came next day and installed it back in October 2018. It never performed the way it should have, and Jim would not come take a look at it, only trouble shoot over the phone, and tell me Im doing it wrong. After calling the manufacturer, I was told the problem was that it was hooked up to the cold water line, when it needs to be on the hot water line. Took 3 months of back and forth and ignoring my calls for Jim to finally come and switch the line over at the end of January 2019. Almost immediately after entering my home to make the repair, Jim insulted me, saying I don't know anything about these units, and this is the first one in the thousands that he's installed that didn't work properly. He then over tightened the self piercing saddle valve (which I have since learned are against code in the state of New Jersey), causing it to leak. He became confrontational and blamed me for this leak. He then put some tape and puddy on the leak and got it to stop long enough for him to tell me I was all set and left. Sure enough 2 days later, I came home to puddles of water leaking from my HVAC closet. Jim wouldn't return my phone calls and I had to call in an emergency plumber to fix the situation. They told me that self piercing saddle valves are against code in NJ and are a cheap short cut from doing it right and prone to leaking. I paid over $700 to fix this and install the proper shut off valve, and remove the dead saddle valve on the cold water line. Also after installing this humidifier, my furnace now "short cycles", because its not getting enough air to the furnace as air is being borrowed for the humidifier. Ive called a real company to handle this problem. Overall Jim does not know which humidifier to install based on my HVAC needs. He cuts corner with parts that are against code and has created more problems that he solves. My advice call someone else, or at the very least dont let him put a self piercing saddle valve in your house.

No repairs were done, no meaningful diagnosis was provided, yet I was billed $280.35 for "one hour of service." Moreover, this is something they could have easily asked me to check prior to coming over. At no point before the visit was I informed of a mandatory one-hour minimum charge. Only after the technician declined to perform the job was I handed paperwork with that language buried above the signature line. This is a classic bait-and-switch, no disclosure up front, refusal to provide the service, and then a hefty bill.

Their worker eventually showed up, and simply explained to us how to operate our thermostat and radiator (I wasn't familiar with that particular system), and then he left. No fixture was done, no additional parts installed, nothing, as it all worked just fine. Just a quick 15-minute show-up and explanation. But this company had my spouse sign some paper and then billed us nearly $500 (!) for this visit (see attached photo) through our above-mentioned management company, which is at least three times the acceptable rate for comparable services in the industry, i.e. a visit by a plumber for evaluation that requires no physical labor at all (in NYC). "Advanced Plumbing, Mechanical & Sprinklers Corp" did not disclose their rates prior to charging us, needless to say. When we contacted them to dispute this ridiculous charge after finding out about it, they refused to do anything about it. This conduct must not be allowed. Update: They have agreed to listen to my side and to refund us a half of the billed amount, so I am increasing this review to 3 stars (and may consider removing it altogether later on).

We had a faulty gas valve, which he replaced, but he also saw our dampener was causing the behavior that was keeping our heat from kicking in.
