Christian is soooo good. I've seen him about 10 times and he always has me leaving the salon fabulous. He's sweet, and funny and knowledgeable. The salon is clean and big so lots of distancing. Amazing service. There are so many reasons why I loved my visit today. -My appointment was at 2. It started at 2. She had everything done (dye, wash, blow dry, flat iron, and trim) in only 2 hours. -I have really thick, coarse, and curly hair. Jayme made sure while she was applying the dye and sectioning it that she wasn't tugging or hurting me. -The shop is welcoming and so are the staff -Shampoo chair has an ottoman. -Jayme gave me excellent tips to maintain the flat iron job that she did and I felt so comfortable with any suggestions she made during the appointment in regards to color and trim length. All in all I was blown away with everything and let it be known I'm pretty picky when it comes to my hair. I was really reluctant to write this review because the lady who did my nails was very sweet but she didn't seem to have much experience doing professional manicures and pedicures. I did buy a deal for a manicure and pedicure and it was only $20 so I was super excited to use it but you definitely get what you pay for. My cuticles were not properly cut and the nail polish was not evenly put on. The stations were dirty because the previous lady who worked on a customer's nail did not clean hers. When she applied the nail polish, I even had to mention a few times that she missed certain spots. By the time she got to the top coat, my nail polish was so thick that it took forever to dry and she just slopped on the top coat which got all over my cuticles. read more

I found this little salon on Yelp. I had just moved to Manassas, and after years of coloring my hair myself, it was a dried out, brassy, calico mess. I called and asked for Monica. She was great and got me in the next day. I've been going to her for months now, and my hair is a beautiful, beige blonde, and so healthy it's incredible. She worked with me on the price because I see her so often(I hate roots), and she only recommended one product(she's not pushy), which worked beautifully. She also keeps a record of your cut and color and goals so there's no guess work next time you come in. She's just marvelous. I was in need of some hair therapy, but really didn't have a stylist or anyplace I had heard about. I saw a Groupon for MJ Salon and Color Group for a cut, style, and partial highlights. I thought, "why not try....Its a great value and it's close." I went online and saw the website and thought it looked reputable and nice so I bought the Groupon. I called about a week after I bought the Groupon. Making the appointment WAS SO EASY AND I DIDN'T FEEL BAD ABOUT HAVING A GROUPON. Usually, when I buy a Groupon for massages or nails or whatever and I call, the people at the desk are rude about it and make me feel bad about the deal I got. Well, NOT here! I love that they all knew about the groupon and were happy to have me book an appointment. They booked me with a Cristina. I NOW HAVE A HAIR STYLIST! Cristina R was absolutely fantastic. She was professional, courteous and sweet. I wasn't sure what exactly what I wanted ( I had an idea, but didn't know for sure). Cristina was clear about restating what I said and added her suggestions. She was not pushy at all. She was actually really interested in what I was saying. She expressed genuine interest in my hair and what I wanted. I FELT THE MOST COMFORTABLE AT A SALON WITH A STYLIST I HAVE EVER FELT. We discussed ideas and she recommended I upgrade to add low-lights to the partial highlights I was getting. I agreed with her suggestions and understood the look that we were going for. She double checked that I was ok with cutting away the (burned and split-ended) inches in the back with pure interest in me! I was down with a new look and we went for it. I GOT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HAIRCUT AND COLOR JOB EVER! Cristina did such an amazing job, I had to have my husband take me out that evening! (Don't waste the pretty!) The cut was fantastic and fun. I don't know hair lingo - so forgive my bad explanation...... My hair was below shoulder, fine and thin, with about an inch of root growth ( ash blonde) and the rest burned out blonde from a box. I now have a beautiful bob that is shorter in the back and angles to the front. My hair gets longer as it comes to the front, it is roughly ear height at the back and goes down to below my chin in the front. I literally look like another person. I am so impressed with Cristina and the way she knew what color would work for me. I will be coming to her from now on. Stopped in for a haircut this afternoon around lunch and a stylist was available on the spot. Large, clean and well-lit indoor space despite that the exterior looks like you are walking into a closet. Friendly staff. I'm not really picky about my hair and I don't any kind of colors or crazy styles but they seem to offer a wide range of services if you are into that. All seemed experienced and friendly. Monica was awesome and I would highly reccomend if you want hair extensions - go see her. She put over 600 hair extensions -- 12 bundles in my daughter's hair. She was 7 months from her last chemo treatment with 3.5/4" of hair. Most salon's said it can't be done....Monica was the first to say....I can do it! She worked so many hours putting in each strand & blending it. No more wig -- she has long, beautiful human hair that she can style & pull up in a pony tail!! Not only did Jayme correct my epic failure of "at home DIY color" with ease, she took me in on a Sunday when the Salon is closed so I didn't have to go to work the next day looking like a hot mess. So ladies and gentleman my advice is do not spend your Saturday trying to be creative at home, just go see Jayme from the start but if you do; please call Jayme as she is the best one to fix your mistake. I found this place through Groupon... Sherry is the only nail technician here...but boy is she not only super sweet and super friendly, but she does amazing nails! I LOVE how meticulous she is!! That is how it should be anyways! It is so hard to find a great nail technician anywhere you go! However, I am from Las Vegas and almost every single place there does great nails, because it is the West Coast...and that's just how it is. So finding this spot and finding Sherry, I just got really lucky! This is no reflection of the hair salon portion but rather the nail salon portion. This was the worst place I've been. First of all they offered a Groupon however only have one nail tech... my friend and I bought one hoping to go together, and while we did it was going to be one at a time. I sat down for a pedi first. The nail tech didn't even sanitize the tools... she rinsed them in the sink. I should have gotten up then but I had assumed she was rinsing that blue stuff off, no come to find out my friend saw and when she sat down told me. The nail tech also wiped the tools on her pants not my towel to clean excess skin. The massage left little to be desired. And I felt she was rushing through the pedi because she had to fit us both in. I have been to many places and had way better!! When my friend sat in the other pedi chair it was disgusting! See picture below. Regardless of having another person you should have clean equipment. We ended up not continuing on and I just paid for a pedi and walked out. Don't buy the Groupon! The lady who answer my call was very rude and the second person that answer the call did not sound awake (at 1PM on weekday) and told me to cancel my groupon and pay full price if I want to come in on Friday. As I walked in, a stylist and client (in foils) walked outside to smoke. I have been at MJ once through a living social deal. If the place is not far from where I live, I would use this as my regular salon. However, I was interested to know more about their salon after being disappointed a number of times in other places where i used groupon or living social. Other salons didn't take care of me as much as their regular customers since I only used living social or groupon. But MJ is different! They know that they are into these deals for exposure to the public and Monica took care of me. She's knowledgeable and she is unlike other people in other salons who will insist of purchasing hair products such as shampoo or conditioners especially that I had a keratin treatment which other salons advised me to have special shampoo and conditioner. The treatment was awesome! And after a day without shower post treatment, my hair was so soft and nice and I really love it. Again, the treatment is unlike another living social deal that i used. I like Monica so much too. They took care of me immediately as soon as I arrived.Again, if the location is not far from where I lived, this would be by regular salon. So sad...bought a Groupon for a No-chip manicure and Spa Pedicure. I have never been treated so unprofessionally before. Sherry, the nail technician, refused to service me (even though I had an appointment) because I had a Groupon. She stood at the front desk and started arguing with me refusing to service me because she didn't want to take the Groupon. She actually refused. Then she threw a fit when the owner forced her to take me. Slammed things around, gave me absolutely no service whatsoever. I did not get the service I paid for on my Groupon. Such a shame. I was told by the nail technician that I needed to return the Groupons because she refuses to accept them. Then why have them? I don't get it...will NEVER go back! I've lived in Manassas, VA for over two years and have struggled to find a decent stylist. MJ Salon is conveniently located, easy to schedule an appointment, very clean- nice sophisticated salon, and the owner MJ is always available for same day appointments. I have to say I was impressed with MJ service; she works fast, very knowledgeable-experienced stylist, and I am always a satisfied customer. I was so impress, I brought my boyfriend, whom too struggled with finding a decent scissor cut. He is extremely picky and was so nervous he took me to his appointment for support! I must say MJ went above and beyond to ensure he was happy, she listen to his wants and deliver stellar service .In Fact, he was so pleased and comfortable with her skill set, that two weeks later he asked her for a whole new style.
