Best hat bar & boutique ever!! Such a fun experience! The hat bar has SO many options to choose from lol ribbons, chains, charms, patches, branding, feathers, and more. The staff was incredibly helpful and made it so fun. I loved being able to create something completely unique to me. We had such a lovely visit at this adorable boutique. The owner was super sweet, and I'm pretty sure we kept them open later than they typically are, and she didn't make us feel rushed at all. Giant dressing room, so you can try on with a friend. Lots of very comfortable resort wear and vacation clothing including lots of lovely linens and made in Italy silks. Sales woman was so helpful and pointed out things to me that I didn't actually see myself that I really loved. She was very helpful and putting outfits together as well. I always find a ton of clothing there when I visit Coronado , which is several times a year. Went to the Coronado location. Let me start by saying that the staff and customer service were lovely. Lots of cute things, very well curated. I found a pair of jeans that I absolutely love. The problem is that same pair of jeans is $30 cheaper within about 5 miles. When I checked the return policy, I found that they only accept exchanges. not returns. The "Coronado tax" is real, but $30? That's fine if it's something original or unique, but it's not OK if it's a big brand denim that's available online or at other, larger, stores. It's sad, because I love supporting small and women-owned businesses, but this feels a bit unethical. It's a $30 lesson I wish I didn't have to learn. While I may go back in to look around, I will never purchase from here again. read more

I love their clothes but the offensive candles that they burn prevents me to enter their store. One day I went in and asked the sales rep what the pungent smell they have penetrating throughout their store? I told her this offensive odor keeps me from entering their store and buying their clothes. The sales rep said it is a candle that is very popular and the owner burns it to sell these candles. I asked the sales rep what is the goal of this clothing store-to sell candles or the clothes? Please store owners, get rid of offensive smells that u think appeal to the masses. They cause headaches, eye irritations and a road block to future biz. read more

I live in Coronado and do yourself a favor... DO NOT SHOP here! They don't allow you to return ANYTHING back to your credit card. Everything is cheap but overpriced. The sales person who is there daily is so awful too. If you want to shop for quality stuff, go to Sweet Soles a 1/2 a block down Orange where the owner is AMAZING and her stuff is quality. read more

Whenever I go to Coronado I love to drop by MJ Brown to see what is the latest. I used to shop when Mrs. Brown / Fran would great you with a great smile, offer you some candy or the latest that she baked and go on to engage you to feel right at home and be part of the family. Her bicycle that she used to ride to work everyday is on the back wall to honor her spirit. In 2011 another change has come. The store has been repainted to tradtional colors and new merchandise has been brought back into the store that is focused on quality and good value. I recently heard the buying focus is directed by the wife of Ken Brown. Sophie was born in Paris, France and her family were manufacturers of fine women fashions that were marketed on the Runway in Paris. Sophie has taken her family experience to MJ Brown. If you drop in and visit you will see a new flare for quality women clothing at a good value. read more

its a small, cute store with original stuff. the zippers on all the dresses are crap but they give you a discount for it to fix it yourself. i bought a dress and a top for a pretty good price. the salesgirl was really nice and helpful, too. she suggested some things that i never would have picked up. read more

I had a very good experience today at MJ Brown. First off, there is a significant sale going on - the owner is clearing inventory to bring in fresh items (although the current inventory is very chic), and sales are my friend. Second, Martha was working today and her customer service is amazing! She is professional, courteous, friendly, and knows what to bring you to try on. She explained clearly the sale sections of the store, and knew where requested items were located. She also told me the history of the store, about the family who has passed it down from mother to son. Martha made my shopping experience personal and enjoyable. Third, their inventory is young and fun and chic - clothing, jewelery, accessories, bathing suits (I took home two skirts, a dress, a belt, a scarf, two pairs of earrings, and a bikini.) Finally, the interior of the store is bright, welcoming, and well laid out - it is charming and airy and colorful. I will be back. read more

I have been coming to MJ Brown for a couple years now and used to really enjoy it's atmosphere. I just stopped in the other day and was shocked. MJ Brown decided to redo their store which could have been so awesome if it has been executed in a better manner. The store has uneven floors that I kept tripping over, bad paint jobs, bad molding, I could keep going. I'm really bummed. It seems to me that instead of taking the time to really put effort in, a crappy job was done instead and corners were cut from the obvious look of the place. The merchandise is still a good as ever but the store itself deducts from the clothes itself. Total bummer. read more

I visit Coronado every few years and I love shopping at all of the stores on the island. I usually do more window-shopping than actually spending. A lot of the items on the island are for tourists and I would not do my normal clothes shopping there. This visit was very different. I was SO impressed with Mj Browns. The merchandise was fantastic! I fell in love with almost every item in the store. Everything from purses, to dresses, jeans, tops.. I loved it all! I ended up having to pack another suitcase because I bought so much there. The fashion is very unique and fashion forward, not to mention flattering for all sizes. I look forward to shopping there the next time I visit. I would recommend this store to any woman looking for fun, comfortable, good quality clothing that isn't found at just any department store. If you haven't been to this store recently I would go check it out... it is dramatically different! Love love love it! read more
