Beautiful and well organized boutique by colors and salt-peppered with nice smelling candles and soaps and jewelry and plants. Exactly what you would expect at a dreamy boutique. I felt very welcomed and was able to browse all I wanted even though my main intention was to go to the nearby dessert place (I had not been in Bankers Hill for years so this was a pleasant surprise). Love this cute little store filled with that boho style look for women. Overall their clothes are super cute and they also have different beauty products. Bought a yin and yang circular bag and also somebody oils and body wash. I wanted to buy a few clothes but the sizing and fitting weren't working for me. But they were cute-looking. I found this place on Yelp and this store was what I would think a person needs if you like that summer beach look. read more

I stopped by this small store with my friends during our weekend trip to SD for a wedding. It's not big at all but It's a curated, cute, boho chic shop with select brands and lesser-known artist/designers or products. It's beautiful inside (color-coordinated clothing) and has all kinds of gifts, accessories, purses, cards, hats, clothing, home essences, etc. Everything ranges in price but you can definitely find a cute gift here for friends or for yourself! Reminds me of my fav store Pigment (which is also in SD) I left with a super cute vegan leather bag that was unique and I haven't really seen elsewhere. (~$80) I'm not sure if it's SD-local artists or brands, but it's still a fun place to shop in if you're just a shopaholic like me or if you're bored and like cute things. LOVE Thread + Seed for all things gifts, candles, and accessories. The Bankers Hill location is smaller than the GH, but I do like that it tends to be less busy. This location has more focus on gifts and accessories than clothing. I loved stopping by over the holidays for a last minute gift and was so happy they offered gift wrapping for $6, the gift wrapping was adorable. Small shops like Thread + Seed are fantastic and I truly appreciate the quality of their clearly very well curated selection! read more

I fell in love with a latte-colored cardigan, that unfortunately was the last available with a few snags. Avery, was very sweet and helpful. She helped put literal definition into the store by threading the snags for me, so I can later bring to a seamstress to finish. Adorable boutique in my neighborhood! I didn't know about this place until I was waiting in line to pick up a birthday cake from the bakery next door. Now, I get ALL of my birthday/congratulations/get well gifts here. The associates always make sure that you have a good experience when you walk in. They let you know of any new products, promotions, and sometimes help me put together my little gift sets. Highly recommend! They even sell plants! read more

I have noticed as I get older, the more I rely on online shopping for special occasions and gifts. Well, not today. I have passed this boutique while grabbing a James coffee next door, and finally decided to check it out. It's very organized -- some pre-made gift boxes are available or you can customize one. Some items around the store included bath soaps, hair products, books, chocolate, candles. If you need a gift for a girlfriend (friendly or romantic), chances are you'll find something for her in here. Pre designed gift boxes start at about $50 .. however I saw some go up to $100+. I designed my own box and was able to fill it with 4 items that my best friend will adore. For an additional $8, the store is going to package and mail my gift.. which I am pretty sure is cheaper than the post office ( and completely less stress). Brenna was working that day-- she is a rock star! She helped me pick the perfect items that described my friend. I will definitely be back to spoil some more friends! read more

It is on the ground floor of The Louie, the ultra cool mixed use building on 4th.. right next door to James Coffee Co. Thread & Seed is stunning. Not only is it a gorgeous space but it is chocked full of amazing gifts. Cutting boards, cocktail shakers, candles, dog leashes, vases, gadgets, cookbooks and tons more. All super chic and tasteful. This owner gets it. Way better than Pigment in North Park in my humble opinion. I knocked out like 7 gifts here and finished my Xmas shopping! Go get some cool goods here now! read more

Banker hill's newest curated gift shop opened up a few weeks ago. It's in the bottom of a condo building and it's super new and a beautiful location. The shop has a lot of gift items and it's centered around housewares, some fashion, and skincare. The owner also runs graffiti beach in south park and I dig the vibe of that store a bit more. The only reason it's not a 5 star review is the price point. I know it's the pricier side of balboa park, but the prices are unnecessarily high. I wish that little shops like this were better prices than online because it's difficult to justify shopping local when I'm paying more for the same item. Also, they have a cute box subscription service they're starting up! It looks good for a great bday present or wedding/shower gift. read more

Love this store and their sister store in South Park. I'd like to first preface I hardly write reviews and considering we are in unprecedented times I know small businesses are doing the best they can. I was a little upset with my interaction today. I purchased a few beauty items yesterday and decided to return 2 today because I found something else (they are Christmas gifts) but apparently everything in store other than clothes(?) is not refundable or exchangeable. It's unfortunate because I haven't even taken the items out of the bag or touched them and there really was no reasoning as to why. It was my mistake for not reading the small print, but it would have also been nice to be told this when purchasing. This year has been hard on small businesses and a lot of others so it kind of sucks because the items are not cheap and I can't get the gifts I was excited too get. read more

I'm always on the hunt for unique and aesthetic gifts, and the rotating stock at Thread and Seed always has something to offer.
