These places always seem so shady to me. However, one night my wife decided to go out to dinner to relax with the ladies and of course I rolled my eyes and said fine I'll watch the kids. When she came back home she told me a story of some of her friends/colleagues of mine were working with someone name Mary and that they were helping with their student loans. Of course I was skeptical and rolled my eyes again. Then on a long road trip I thought I'll let me give this Mary a call, how bad could it be? My wife and I both have crazy student loan payments and even with all the programs out there it's been unmanageable. Ya ya we knew what we were getting ourselves into but didn't think the interest rates were going to kill us this bad. All the programs like IBR payments, repayee etc all still challenging. Anyways, so I called and left a message on the weekend and they got back to me in a few days. We set up an appointment and met Mary, the owner of MK Loans. She was extremely reassuring and after some bad experiences over the years we gave her a chance to hear her out. In a nutshell she didn't want to over promise but said our loan payments would definitely be reduced. Best case she could get our loans discharged quickly if we get lucky based on a variety of programs out there. I didn't sign right then and there because I wanted to think about it based on the cost of what she was offering. After the visit my wife and I both looked at each other and thought nah this seems impossible but I talked to few people in the program and they were very reassuring. I decided let's make a list of questions and see what Mary says. So we met with her to sign and she answered all questions and our biggest question was what if this doesn't work it's a big waste of money. Her answer was I wouldn't take you on as a client if I wasn't absolutely sure I could help. She was sweet, reassuring and when I met her kids, I was in. We both received letters that our payments have been reduced which was amazing. After waiting a few months (like a few), my wife texts me while I'm a work and says "I got an email saying....your loans have been discharged." HOLY SHIT WHAT JUST HAPPENED!?!? Best case scenario right?!? We called Mary to verify and she confirmed that it was indeed true. My payments are much improved and am grateful to Mary for everything she has helped us with so far and would recommend anyone who is buried in student loan debt to contact her for at least a meeting.
