I went to get my hair done yesterday and I'm so impressed with how it turned out! I came in a day prior to get a quote from Michelle (the owner) to see if she would be able to dye my hair a milk tea brown color. Since I had half virgin black hair on the top and half dark brown at the ends from the previous salon I went to, she was honest and told me that milk tea brown wouldn't be realistic for me and suggested that I went ash brown/milk tea mocha color (which I ended up liking and glad that I went a little darker). The appointment took around 5 hours, but it was so worth it! She's very careful and precise with her work and I'm so glad I was able to get my hair done by her. Things to consider before your appointment: - I would suggest come in a day prior if you are thinking about getting your hair done so Michelle can examine your hair and determine what's best for you. - Hair dye can take hours, eat beforehand, but there's also complementary snacks and drinks provided as well! - They accept Venmo, Zelle, Cash, and Apple Pay only, so be sure to have your payment ready - The hair washing station is also a massage chair too (my favorite part throughout the entire appointment) Overall, I had an amazing experience. My partner and I were in much need of a haircut and used Yelp to find this salon. We decided to do a walk-in. When arriving, the salon had a lot of clients and two people cutting hair (Michelle (owner) and a barber). Because we were only receiving a haircut, we were seated within 15-20 mins, which isn't bad considering the amount of people in the shop. The interior decor was eye catching: very modern, sleek, and lots of great lighting to make the place look bright and clean. Love the indoor plants and the whole shop set-up. For my experience, Michelle is an amazing hair expert. She was very kind. She examined my hair and noted the problems that I had and suggested I receive a certain hair length along with a haircut that she believed would look good on me. She guessed correctly how long I had it growing too! After the haircut, she made sure to let me know how often I need to maintain my hair and suggested the specific shampoo/conditioner that I should purchase from the Matrix line (the shop sells these products). Went there after I got a really bad hair cut from Studio 415 (see my other review). This place is inside of an Asian super market building. I specifically booked Michelle due to overwhelming great reviews about her. She went above and beyond explaining to me what the problem was and took pictures of the messed up "holes", slip ends and breakage from the sloppy razor chopping I got from Studio 415's hair stylist. She really took her time to fix my bad hair cut to the best she could and also made it easy for me to style at home. The price was reasonable and the place is clean and trendy. The only thing that I would mention is that the booking system can be confusing since I saw some negative reviews stating that the hair stylist was double or triple booked. I booked a 9 am appointment online and found out that the owner does not start working until 9:30 am. I do think it's because the online booking system shows incorrect openings. Hopefully they can get that fixed. Also, they only take Venmo, Zelle, or cash which doesn't bother me at all, but I did see a negative review about it. Overall, I do think the owner Michelle is an amazing hair stylist if you have challenging hair issues, she's very skillful and will try her best to make it look good. I went with my roommate and we had an amazing experience. There was no wait time, and Michelle was very accommodating. She offered snacks, really good bbq crackers, throughout the process. She gave me notice that she would need to help with the that process alongside another stylist, but that she would still be able to cut my hair in a timely manner. Michelle is absolutely wonderful. She is so skilled, kind, and all around such a lovely person. I came in on a Monday for a cut and color wanting to go shorter + chocolate brown. The last time I dyed my hair was 2 years ago so it was very grown out. I showed her a picture and she got straight to work. After washing, I noticed that my hair came out a little more red than I wanted but I didn't mention it in the moment. After I went home, I noticed it was more red than I wanted. When I got there it appears they don't check their online appts as she didn't have availability so I was put with another stylist. He did what I thought was an okay job. When it was over I was only really able to access the front which looked okay. When I get home I realized there was a whole section of hair that he had missed. I had to cut it myself as I got 5 inches off and now had a rat tail. After the weekend of styling it I also realized the back is completely choppy, uneven and not at all layered, people let me know the bottom is not even. THEY DO NOT CARE! EDIT: After reading other reviews I think I might have been racially profiled. They sat me for a 15-20 min hair cut, after I told them to take their time. I went in for a color and haircut. My hair needed a touch up with color and some blending for my old highlights. Michelle did a wonderful job of using 2 types of color to achieve this.
