It was okay and they were short staffed and I went to the main location downtown. The lobby was clean and the lighting was good.

This humble home is where the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, first drew breath on March25,1942 Despite being in a rough spot--windows boarded, weeds creeping, and parts collapsing--it still whispers history at every creak You can't go inside, but stepping onto the porch--or as close as allowed--fills you with awe. This is ground zero for gospel that would later shake the world. Aretha herself returned here in 2014 and recalled memories of her father preaching and her family gathering under a backyard tree with nostalgia and fondness The neighborhood, part of historic Soulsville, bears its own scars--decades of neglect and blight. But the house stands at the center of a hopeful revival. Local activists and preservation groups have fought zoning orders and demolition plans, and as recently as mid-2024, efforts to stabilize and restore the site gained traction--especially now that Anasa Troutman owns the property with the intent to honor its legacy in place

You can't go inside but are able to get out and view the outside. It was a wonderful experience and honor to visit the Queen of Soul's birthplace. However, as a historic place the city should clean up the area and street.

I am very impressed how much they have grown and how much they have to offer! love the building and the staff and the students I met were nice. the concert was fun and some very talented and skilled musicians there. I will be sending my son there, he is so excited to go! I will highly recommend this college for the rest of my life. if you or someone you know loves God and wants a career in music, this is the place to go.

I beg you, stay away. Don't let Ken Steorts bend your ear for second. Keep your money, don't waste…read moreyour time, just stay away. Save yourself and the ones you love from Ken's rapacious need for power, clout and grandeur. Under the school's facade of excellence and Christian values, lies an unseemly place. Ken has taken a "calling" and made it a curse. With him at the helm, VMC can never be what it has every potential of being: great! I graduated in 2017 as Salutatorian, awarded with the Cost of Discipleship Award, Excellence in Business Award, and was SGA President. I did my best with the utter disappointment that was my college experience. I was so excited to attend this school but I wish I had known that I was being told boldface lies about accommodations, accreditations, and career opportunities. What I thought would be a perfect fit for me ended up being more of a straight jacket than a tailored suit. Manipulation, neglect, and complete mismanagement is what I encountered instead of a christian community that serves the Lord through music and academics. Don't even get me started on the subpar academic standards at VMC. It's also, you guessed it, NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. And that's not even the worst of it... I mean, just before my graduation it all blew up around the school that a married teacher sent video(s?) of himself m*sturbating to a then-current student, but he wasn't barred from campus and I had to see him in the audience as I received my worthless diploma on stage. In gut-wrenching contrast, a student reported being r*ped by a fellow classmate to the school and was met with expulsion just months before her graduation, banned from campus, and Ken illegally withheld her report from the U.S. Department of Education. So, do with that information what you will. But it happened. Ken Steorts, the "oh so wonderful, founding guitarist of the world renowned christian rock band, Skillet" allowed all of that to happen. There are so many people Ken's institutionalized hubris has harmed but I used the above story because I can back it up (Links below). Don't even book the building for your wedding reception or event. Yeah, it looks cool and all and Ken sure is sweet talker. But Please, just STAY AWAY from VMC.
