It was such an experience to see it go from one staple in the community to now what it is. There are many moving parts at this location including a library, police precinct, walking trail, skate park, and more. I was eager to give the trial a go and I must say it was a very serene experience. From hearing the waves from the lake to watching skaters skate (wait that rhymed, lol), I enjoyed my time out there. It also feels secure knowing that there is a police precinct there. So, walkers and visiter can feel safe at all times. I haven't gotten a chance to go in the library yet, but what I have seen so far....I love it!

What I love the most about it is that it's really close to my house and, when I can't get to our dog park, I can just head over to walk the puppy and let him get some of his energy out. Due to its location, it's a central point for me to meet up with my mom, nephew, and niece for us to walk and bond. The library is beautiful and there is a local precinct at the site. I'm glad that it's open and accessible for me to start getting back in shape. Fantastic! For adults, for children, for families, and for the community. They truly have something to offer everyone. From the new books they're constantly adding to their collection to used books for sale to classes and crafts to movie days and community outreach. The library itself is tiny but mighty. The staff here is friendly and quick to help! If you live in Arlington it's free to sign up for a library card. If you live elsewhere I believe it's $50/year to become a member. The marker is in front of what is now the Hard Rock Cafe. It reads, "Pee Wee's Saloon was the favorite meeting spot for Memphis musicians in the early 20th century. W.C. Handy used the cigar counter to write out copies of the Beale Street Blues for his band members. One of those songs, written for the 1909 political campaign was first named "Mr. Crump," for the Memphis mayor and political boss. Later with new lyrics it became famous as "The Memphis Blues.""
