I finally found the one!!! I've been looking for someone that can cut my thick Asian hair for SO LONG. My hair was choppy and had the worse color- it looked like a mop. I gave Moa a quick reference and she made my hair AMAZING. It's so hard to find someone that can thin out my thick Asian hair and give me soft layers. Most salons give me layers without thinning it out so it ends up looking like the end of a broom in a triangular shape. I attached before photos. 10/10 experience at Moa Hair today! I called to make an appointment on Thursday, and they were able to accommodate my partner and I for one long cut and one short cut + perm on Saturday with no issues! I have been cutting my own hair since 2019, growing it out from a buzz cut. I have a lot of hair, and it's quite straight, and HEAVY. (See last photo for a before pic) We started off with a lovely shampoo and conditioner, where the I showed the owner a few photos of what I was thinking - a hush cut/ wolf cut combo, and she saw the vision immediately. She checked in to see how much length I wanted to preserve, and confidently made the cut. During the course of the cut, I could tell that she had put in so much attention to detail, ensuring the styling was impeccable, and removing a significant amount of weight. I feel like I have 1/3 of the hair on my head that I came in with, which is going to help so much with the speed of drying and styling my hair. We finished the cut with a blow dry and some delicious smelling hair oil. Overall I had a wonderful experience, and will definitely be back again for my next cut, and for a perm definitely recommend Moa hair if you are looking for a skilled stylist who is on top of the latest trends, and can pull off your vision every time read more

This place was able to squeeze me in for an 1130 morning appointment same day after I called looking desperately for a cut and color. I really needed to cut off my damaged color hair as it was irritating my neck as the weather is getting warmer. Asian hair can be very challenging to cut and manage. My hair is thick prone to be dry and tangled My blonde balayage had faded more into a brassy orange brown texture and my gray hair was showing through the roots. They were confident they could update it with toning it up and adding highlights for dimension. I was very satisfied with the color. I do not recommend this place. The owner Moa is easily overbooked and rushes everything. When I get a haircut I like it to be a customized experience. But here, you just choose/show her a picture and she starts working. There's minimal communication about the style, how will it look on you, even length. She also scratched me a few times during the washes (from doing it too quickly) and her assistant sprayed solution into my ear..... Moa is also not very transparent with her rate. I made an appointment for basic perm ($150) but at check out she told me that I had a digital perm which ended up being $250. How am I supposed to know the difference between the two techniques without her telling me? Also, haircut is charged separately ($85 for a medium length hair). I just don't think Moa's service lives up to the hype. read more

I got a perm and haircut from this spot more than a month ago. It was my first time getting a perm, so I'm glad I picked this salon. Mona and her assistant who runs the front (forget her name) answered all my questions and did a great job of making the procedure as smooth as possible. I was giving a breakdown of how to take care of my hair after the perm. I was even recommend this cream to help maintain my curls. I felt like they genuinely cared about my experience and wanted me to maximize my new wavy curls. My only critique is when Mona shaved down my sides for the two-block, she shaved down part of my natural hairline. I'm growing out that part of my hairline, so that I can get it retouched next time when I'm in the shop. I look forward to coming here again! read more

We were in town for a wedding and came here on a Saturday morning. We were greeted with a warm welcome into an open and well kept salon. Unfortunately, it all went south from there. Both my cousin and I were looking to get a simple blow out but when the employees didn't know what we were asking for and asked for pictures, we should have known. After getting our hair washed and blow dryed, the hair dressers broke out a small rod curler and proceeded to style our hair. We were both skeptical but gave them the benefit of the doubt. My stylist was clearly in training and I'm usually ok with people in training to things to me but she had to be shown how to do everything as if she had no experience at all. Our style session was pretty rough as the curling rod was dropped on our head and the styling products were forcefully rubbed into our scalps. I'm not really sure what happened that day since the ratings are quite high. Sadly we left paying way more than I would have wanted to for styles we didn't ask for. read more

I've decided to do perm for my next hairstyle. I stumbled upon this salon being the closest one near me. I wouldn't have thought there would be a salon in this location. I do however like that it has its own unique, undisturbed place in an available to lease plaza and parking is no problem at all. I've had great experiences consulting with the owner and interacting Katie (hopefully not severely butchering) . My first appointment was a haircut and a perm that followed suit for the second. 1st apt: I came in for a haircut, loved it! Katie noticed when washing my hair there was a heavy build up on my hair due to the 2-1 shampoo conditioner I was using for a good minute. I've experienced postpartum hair loss and very oily hair after a wash. She recommended me a daily and a clarifying shampoo. Both are wonderful products! I immediately felt the difference in weight on my hair after being washed. I love Katie for this advice, she already won me over. 2nd apt: perm time! This process took 2 hours as expected. I was aware that it'll take that long. Both of the ladies started working on my hair I was very impressed in their punctuality; both ladies would work on my hair and would tell me x will take about x amount of time & would check up on me right on the dot while working with other clients tandem. I also noticed that they have a plethora of services such as lash extension and nail services. I got great customer service, I would recommend. read more

I am so thankful that I found this salon. I was trying to find a salon to get my son's hair cut and the first place I went to was too busy. I saw this one on Yelp and figured, hey. It's close, let's check it out! I called to see if they had time for my son and they did! I walked in and immediately noticed how clean this salon is. The atmosphere is great and relaxing. Min lead my son to a chair and asked me what cut I would like. I said I wanted something that is a bit long (but not too long) on the top and short on the sides. He took great care of my son's hair, and I'll be honest. This is my favorite cut he has ever gotten. I am absolutely in love with how his hair came out. He looks like a little kpop star T_T I love it. It's been a long time since I cut my hair, it was getting super long and super heavy. I thought to myself, well since I'm here I should get a haircut too! I asked for long layers with bangs, and that is exactly what Min gave me. I am sooooo happy with my haircut, this honestly is my favorite haircut that I have ever gotten. My hair feels a lot lighter, but the length is still there. I use to do get my hair straight permed when I was younger, but have been apprehensive about getting it done. I figured that since they do amazing haircuts, I would like to see if they do straight perms well. Guess what? THEY DO!!!!!!!! I permed my hair this Saturday, and I LOVE it. I love that I don't have to do anything other than wash it and let it air dry for it to look amazing. I called very last min to see if they could squeeze me in for a haircut appointment I have been over due for one and kept putting it off. It's been over two years since I cut it I wish I did a before and after pic but didn't think to do one. I didn't really know what I wanted besides a whispy fringe bangs with face framing since I usually wear my hair up and cut what they think was necessary they did cut a lot and thinned my hair since my hair is very thick. She did a technique that I never seen before and made my hair thinner with out thinking scissors and o really liked it for my hair. I never like when people cut it and I usually fix it when I get home but she did fantastic that I did not need to do that. read more

I was hoping I would never have to find another place after I found this one in 2011. The quality you get from Mona is unmatched, consistent and most reliable. From start to finish, I have zero concerns in Mona's hands. Unfortunately, I had to move out of state for work between 2016-2020. I stuck with the less-than-satisfactory $15 crew cuts while out of state, knowing that Mona's quality did exist in this area. Soooo glad to be back now in 2020. A bit on the pricey side (especially for a guy) but the value is more worth it and the peace of mind (for me) is especially important. Don't think twice, just go here - you won't need to go anywhere else. This has to be the worse experience at a hair salon i had in my life...I never give 1 stars but this takes the cake...I found this hair salon on yelp and saw good ratings so I called to ask for a quote earlier in the week, Mona (the salon owner) picked up, I've described to her my current hair and what i wanted...she mentioned it would be $150-200 depends on how much processing my hair needs for bleaching. I was okay with the price and booked an appointment with Moa Hair Studio. The day of the appointment, I came on time and was asked to be seated and eventually waited 20 minutes before they started. I've showed them a picture of the style and color (ice blond) I wanted and the owner said she can dye my hair with 2 process like what she mentioned over the phone. She mentioned she can get it to look like the image but it would be a few shades darker..I said a few shade darker is fine and asked for the cost and this time instead of $150-200, it was $200-250. I was already there and seated. So i thought to myself, whatever..lets just get it over. The owner mixed the chemical and had aid to help apply while Mona does someone else hair. Mona's help, Katie, was super friendly. She started adding bleach directly to my scalp and I've asked her if she was going to use the foil method. She told me that the foil method takes longer and it would cost more. Basically, $250 was not enough for them to use foil...bleach was slathered all over my hair and scalp. After the first rinse my scalp was very tender and tingling and i have told Katie this. My hair was bright orange at this point. Katie mentioned that the second process, she will need to use foil, and I was happy to hear that.. she left and came back with the hair bleach, but no foil so i asked Katie about it. And she said and i quote, "the owner doesn't think i needed foil" - if i knew, my scalp would be damage because of the owner's poor decision of being cheap and neglectful, i would have stopped right there. But i am no expert and placed my trust in the salon "experts". As katie was applying the the bleach, my scalp started to sting and i have told her and she said, its normal and let her know if it still sting after ten minutes...i now realize it might have been the bleach killing off the pain nerves bc after 5-7 minutes i didn't feel the sting anymore. Sat in the chemical for 25 minutes and had my hair washed. My scalp is now suuuper sensitive. Mona had prepared a toner. Note at this point, Mona did not even communicated what color toner she was applying. As Katie applied the toner to my head it stung.. as the color turn, it looked gray and i got worried. I asked Katie if this is normal? Katie said yes, the color is normal and not to worry. Again, i am no hair expert and thought i should just trust the process...after the rinse, my hair was ALL OVER GRAY WITH HINTS OF BLUE WITH BRASSY ORANGE UNDER TONE!! I WAS SO SHOCKED! Never in my life where id asked for something and it turned out completely different. The owner was going to dry my hair and have me walk out the studio with gray, blue, brassy orange undertone out of the salon! At that point i started hyperventilating from the sticker shock and tears started rolling down my eyes. The owner chuckled and said there was nothing to cry about, the gray and blue is suppose to counter the orange of my hair. Not very empathic...but did she really expect me to walk out of the salon looking like that?!?! she sighed and went to the back and grab some type of chemical solution to remove the gray and blue. At this point she has NOT apologized for her poor communication, being neglectful and her poor professionalism. She took me to the back and rinse the toner off leaving my hair brassy orange. She used her nails scratch my scalp pretty hard leaving me wincing in pain. Ive asked her to wash my hair gentler. My hair scalp was already sensitive and this could highly be the reason why my scalp was even more damaged. She mentioned that she was going to leave my hair in some type of treatment and just thought it was just the normal process...the treatment of washed and my hair basically turn orange blond. She spent less than 30 second trimming.. my hair. And said im done...the hair looks nothing what I've asked for. The owner hurried and went to the next client and had Katie take my payment. At this point, Katie said the owner felt bad for me and that she will gift the 30 second hair trim and hair treatment and will cost now $300!! It went from $150-200, to $200-250...and now $300. I have no words for this salon... i left there hoping what ever karma would do its thing. This is just beyond outrageous! The next morning i woke up and my scalp was crusty. My husband checked and my scalp showed sign of damage as my head had dried plasma all over.. if anything, their salon could be sued bc of this...yet they still took my money.. i am so in disbelief that this salon has such high ratings..will never come back! read more

Mona (who is the owner of this salon), I hope you read this review and reflect deeply on the damage you have caused my dear friend. My friend went here yesterday to color her hair, and the result of her hair left her traumatized that she cried in the salon. It was so shocking that it almost made her hyperventilate. Not only did her experience here caused her to be traumatized mentally and emotionally, but they also physically damaged her scalp because of their inexperience and unprofessionalism. The next morning when she woke up, she noticed that there were dried flakes of plasma all over her scalp. She has bleached and dyed her hair many times in the past, but this is the first time she's ever experienced this. My friend wanted to color her hair a light blonde balayage and showed Mona (the owner) a picture of how she wanted her hair to look. Mona said the outcome might not look exactly like the photo and will probably be a few shades darker. My friend said that is fine and the owner proceeded to mix the colors. Another employee applied bleach to her entire head and let it sit so her hair can lighten up. After they washed the bleach and applied the color that the owner had mixed, her hair turned out to be gray/silver with blue highlights?! It was absolutely NOTHING close to the picture or what my friend described. Mona never mentioned that she was going to mix gray and blue into the color. My friend was in complete panic upon seeing her hair. She told Mona that she never said she wanted gray or blue, but Mona and the employee never once apologized. Mona even jokingly said, "You don't need to cry, we can fix this haha." Which was extremely rude and insensitive towards my friend. They then tried to "fix" her hair by applying more chemicals/toner. After washing her hair AGAIN, it turned out to be a bright brassy/orangey color! My friend continued to be in disbelief and her tears were rolling down. She was clearly in a lot of distress and extremely unhappy with the damages and result of her hair. I understand that as humans, we all make mistakes. But Mona never once apologized or rectified the situation. She even made a joke out of the situation. My friend called the salon a few days before the appointment to describe her hair to Mona and what she wanted. Mona quoted her anywhere from $150-$200. On the date of the appointment, my friend showed Mona the picture and she is now saying it will cost $200-$250. But the service ended up costing $300? Mona still expected my friend to pay $300 for this ridiculously traumatic experience! My friend will have to spend even more money to get her hair fixed at a different salon, and for the damage they have caused on her scalp! I will never support a business that does not admit nor own up to their mistakes. I will never support a business that has no integrity and empathy toward people. Mona cared more about making quick bucks, than to try to make it right for her clients. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Please do thorough research and take your money elsewhere. read more

This review is overdue and I wasn't going to leave a review because I wanted to forget my experience here ever existed but every time I go get my hair done this place brings me back bad memories so here is for my closure. I'm glad most of everyone's experience here was great but mine was by far the worst. I grew up and lived in Los Angeles all my life so I prefer Korean hair salons over others, for the service and the fact that they know how to handle Korean hair being that I'm Korean. I picked this place due to all the great reviews. I made an appointment and this was about a year after pandemic hit so I hadn't had my hair done in a while. Appointment process of was easy and friendly. When I went in, I was not greeted, and I stood there for couple of minutes which didn't bother me. When I was seated for my hair cut I can tell I was being "korean profiled". She made comments like I haven't had my hair cut in a while and if I colored my own hair. I just said yes.. but I mean we have a pandemic going on.. of course I hadn't had my hair done in a while but that didn't bother me either. I just assumed she was one of those snobby Koreans. Especially the way she was addressing the other non Korean customers in Korean... I already knew she was one of those rude Koreans. When she started to blow dry my hair before the cut she didn't put any product in and was blowing drying my hair raw with the roll brush. After 3 small sections later I asked very politely in Korean if she uses heat protectant when using heat on hair and she answered of course she does almost offended.. but she still hadn't put anything on my hair. So that's when I asked her, "Can you please put hair protectant on my hair?" She said nothing and sprayed some on my hair. 5 mins later she tells me that it's because she doesn't want the hair to be sticky when she's cutting it. This almost made me get up and leave. Did she think I never had my hair cut before? If she can't afford to use a good heat protectant that doesn't leave residue after drying then she should cut it wet. That gives her no right to dry my hair with roll brush RAW! I decided to just let it go. No need to argue with her at her salon. Even till then I was still ok. I wasn't happy but it wasn't anything to get me upset. BUT, after she was done with my hair, she made no eye contact, didn't say a single word and just walked away. I was appalled... When I was paying I asked the worker if she was the owner and she said yes. As I was telling her how rude the owner is and I've never experienced anything like this, the owner didn't even turn my way and pretended she didn't hear me. I regret that I still left a 10% tip like a total idiot but I don't regret not making a scene about it (even though I should've). I shouldn't have to get to that level for someone like that. First time here. I called in at 3 PM and they were booked. I got a text about 20 minutes later that one of their customers cancelled and were able to fit me in last minute. They were so polite and nice. I got a haircut and my hair washed. It is slightly on the more pricy side but in my opinion totally worth it! Mona was so sweet and quick and precise and I love my haircut (I cut about 8+ inches of hair, so I was a little hesitant to let anyone cut it). I would 100% recommend them. I'm so impressed with this place! Mona is absolutely lovely! I called in after 5pm for a haircut and Mona was able to have me come in 15 minutes despite scheduling by appointment. The salon was new and nicely decorated with a spa like feel. I started off with a hair wash which was very relaxing. Mona really took her time on my hair and she knew what was she was doing.
