I can't believe it took me this long to write this review but it's been a crazy few months. We were living in Federal Way, Washington during the summer visiting our family and it was time for my daughter to get her hair done color cut and everything we have been waiting for a long time due to the virus we waited to the last possible minute before we moved back to Arizona or came back to Arizona at the end of the summer before the school year started. And I researched and researched every possible salon within the surrounding cities for a really long time and I am so glad I found this one and our very own backyard. I knew exactly what we wanted and exactly who would be taking care of my daughters hair. She had neck length hair and she wanted a specific bright pink color and let me tell you it turned out amazing. Heather did an amazing job on her hair she took the time to explain how it was going to work out, Heather and I have been messaging back-and-forth to make sure we knew exactly what we want it and how long it was going to take how much it was going to cost it was absolutely perfect it was the experience that I wanted my daughter to have. The salon was very careful about washing hands wearing masks and also making sure everyone was still receiving the best possible customer service so needless to say when we are back in that area we are going to have to go back to her for summer hair touchups. I ended up meeting with Celeste. I had recently gotten my hair done at a different salon where I had a terrible experience and I was wondering what she could do to maybe fix a little bit and Celeste was super nice very knowledgeable as well as Heather and she was able to give my hair a little different look even though I didn't have an appointment that day she squeeze me in and was able to take care of it. I then I want her to do her style before I flew back to Arizona and I scheduled it for the day before we left to go to the airport and she was very accommodating and we were able to get my hair styled and it looked amazing so I am very happy that we found this location and I cannot wait for next summer to go back and see those ladies who took the time to take care of both my daughters hair and mine so you guys need to go see them. read more

This is an update to a 2 star review which was originally left for another stylist. I was contacted by Jesse (Salon Manager in Bonney Lake) a few months after leaving the negative review after he was going through auditing reviews on yelp. He was sincerely concerned about how I had been previously treated & wanted me to give the salon another chance by offering me a complimentary cut & style. Jesse gave me a wonderful cut & style, was prompt and a joy to talk to. I immediately made a follow up appointment for an express balayage & trim for 6 weeks later! I must admit I was a little nervous after my previous experience there for color with the other stylist but Jesse listened to exactly what I wanted & gave me beautiful highlights and style! Plus I was out of there in less than 2.5 hrs!!! I have now made my next appointment for 8 weeks out for another trim & gloss! Got a haircut at Bella Salon for the first time yesterday. I made a last minute appointment since I was in the area. The place is quite small and not as welcoming as I'd hoped. Megan did a good job with my haircut, but her station had a bit of a funny smell. Not sure if it was the comb she was using to brush my hair or the towel she used to dry it, but the smell wasn't very pleasant. read more

This review is for the Bonney Lake location which just recently opened. A girlfriend of mine enjoyed the free blowout that she got so I decided to call and check if I could get a color. I had been wanting to do something drastic as I've been feeling really frumpy and sad lately, totally depressed. I called and made an appointment with Amber Lawson. She is the greatest. Friendly and easy to talk to, my kind of stylist. I told her what I wanted and expected and she went right to work mixing my dye solution. My hair had not been colored for more than 15 years as I was all natural, a blend of silver, grey and black. (I'm Japanese from Honolulu). Anyway, Amber emerged and placed the burgandy color on my hair, processed it for 35 minutes and gave me a a wash and blow out that looked fantastic and lifted my spirits. I recently went into what is now Bella Red salon in Lakeland Hills (didn't know this at the time), but didn't have a great experience. I am used to the salon being called Mogono. In fact, the sign still says the old name. I wanted to make a hair appointment at Mogono, but when I would go to their website, it would redirect me to Bella Red which didn't have an address in Lakeland Hills. Curious I went into the old salon, not knowing that anything had changed. I met with a gentleman at the front who was busy helping others and told me it would be a while because his machine wasn't working. Another lady was there (owner I think) but she was talking with other customers who had already finished, playing with their hair. He asked me what I needed, and I told him I was looking to make an appointment, but I was confused because I couldn't make the appointment online. He told me the other salon had closed and when I expressed my confusion, he gave me attitude. It was almost as if he expected me to know what happened. There is absolutely no way for a person to know that this new salon had taken over and that the other one had even closed. Their website gave no indication and they still have the old signage up. It's really confusing. Given that, it is unacceptable to give attitude to a potential client who was just trying to understand what's going on. Very disappointed. You'd think they'd want to keep the old salons customers. Unfortunately, they've lost this one. Not sure they care. read more

Unfortunately this salon has turned into nothing but bad service and drama since they fired Elle because she was excelling. The owner will publicly fight with customers and degrade clients in front of everyone. If they screw up your hair and you leave a bad review good luck getting a refund or them fixing it. The owner will personally go after you if you criticize the work or aren't satisfied. Elle was the only good stylist who eventually went on to her own salon "Ash and Alter" Sola Studios federal way. I would never return to this salon after my experience there. I was given a trainee to cut my hair, they did their best, but I was not satisfied. When telling the manager I wanted to have it fixed the next day I was told they were sorry and to come right in for an adjustment. When I arrived, the attitude I got from the stylist was not something I have ever experienced before. Somehow I was the jerk for not getting my hair cut correctly the first time. Christine has been doing my hair for my entire adult life and I will follow her to any salon. Even when I lived across the country I would wait til my visits home to get my hair done so I could have her do it. This is by far my favorite salon that I've seen her at. The facility is clean, fun and safe, the staff all seem to have good relationships and the prices are fair. It's well-located and friendly. I always leave feeling confident in my appearance and happy with my experience. I extremely disappointed with my last appointment at this salon, I had been trusting in the "process" boy was i wrong. I originally was referred by co workers to this salon and I just recently was advised they too stopped coming here because of the huge messes they have done with their hair. I was recently there in February was offered to do a balayage as part of the process.. and stupidly enough I agreed. My hair seemed nice when I left the salon because it was curled ( no way I was going to see the huge mess up) after a few washes and straightening my hair i came to a huge realization... my hair was blotchy, looked burned and the worse color of yellow orange you can think of it. My fellow co workers couldn't believe how bad it looked and uneven, I reached out to the owner to seek a refund to be able to repair the damage, she stated no refunds and offered for someone  else to take a look at my hair.. uhhm ma'am what makes u think I'm going to trust your salon anymore? No way!!! I decided to cut my losses and after speaking with my co-workers they decided that they will post a review of their horror story aswell.. I got a personal recommendation for Christine at this salon. I haven't had my hair done professionally in at least 10 years. Not even a cut. I just hate the idea of being held captive in a salon chair for hours. I have too much stuff to do. I decide to pull the trigger and book an appt. I wanted to send Christine a pic of what I was wanting to see if it is feasible. I'm not a cheap person at all, but if I'm going to pay $400 to get my hair done (including tip) I'd like to know beforehand if it's even possible or just get an opinion. I was told by the receptionist I can send it to their FB or Instagram. Fantastic! Wait. I don't do any social media. At all. I tell her I don't have social media and ask how else I can communicate. Thinking surely I can email right? "Maybe you can have someone more computer savvy help you send it?" Not to read too much in to that, but... computer savvy? I actually have a degree in IT. The reason I don't do social media is that I knew from day 1 they were all selling their users info. It just irked me, but whatever. After I book the appt, I look at their reviews. Yikes! I know salons have drama but good lord. This is a lot of drama. And the pics of color jobs didn't give me a lot of confidence and I'm already apprehensive about coloring my hair. Went to "bella red salon" for a 'continuing education promo'. My stylist was Axel. I had a good experience, especially for a practice appointment. I'm a natural brunette but I've got a little *glitter* in my hair these days. I've been going with a deep auburn color for a few years now. The CE was lowlights for Fall. I was already thinking of deepening the color so I booked. I gave him free reign- but wanted to stay mostly red. I had about a month of brunette/silver growout at this point. Axel & his educators decided to take care of the roots first, freshening that up and then adding a violet lowlight. I really dig how it turned out. Axel is such a sweetheart and was super friendly, chatting me up while I waited for the color to process. After, he curled my hair and gave me some coupons for the future. I first came to Bella Red Salon back in October to get a bleach and tone done on me for the first time. I loved how everything turned out until my older sister mentioned that my stylist needed to blend my hair out better I did not realize what she was talking about until she took photos so I can see. There are bands throughout my entire head that are dark. As soon as I let my stylist know she was highly unprofessional and clearly bothered by my sister. Saying "Lol your sister should do your hair. She seems to be super observant about it." That is highly disrespectful and unprofessional and not okay to say to your client. Nor okay to let me walk out the salon with my hair looking how it does. I went to a different stylist to get her opinion and sadly I have to pay much much more money to fix my hair. Don't get me wrong the other stylists and everyone else is super nice but the stylist I had my hair done with I do not recommend. I have also tried to email the owner but no response still sadly. I came in to get my balayage touched up by Vanessa. After my first appointment with her my hair turned out to be a bronze color instead of blonde and she wanted me to come back to fix it. The second session didn't go well either and way more of my hair got bleached than I wanted. The stylist wouldn't even use heat to style my hair when finished because it was so fragile. So 7 hours and $160 later and I hate my not so healthy hair. I had heard good things about this salon but unfortunately after my experience I won't be coming back. As such, I was embarrassed by what I've done (cut, color, etc.). However, everyone is so nice. No judgement whatsoever. In fact, my stylist Heather took the time to really hear me out in order to tackle my unique issues accordingly. The appointment started with a consultation, where I told her what I was aiming for - color range, depending on what matches my skintone - since I was still a bit unsure. She asked if I had any color and I told her that I used box dye. She explained that the color I'm aiming for might not be exact since I already had color in my hair; the chemical reactions might differ to a certain degree. I acknowledged this and explained that anything was better than this black hair. LOL. My experience was great. So much so that I'll definitely be coming back here to become a regular. Finally getting around to writing about my terrible experience at this salon in 2019. It took my hair about 4 years to recover & completely grow out after it was fried to a crisp by one of their stylists. I lost chunks of hair. I got a chemical burn on my scalp which was sensitive for weeks. During the appointment, I had to actually go get the stylist & tell her my scalp was on fire & that the bleach had to come out immediately. That's never happened to me before. I couldn't touch my hair again until mid-2023 where I gently went back to cool blonde. For reference, I'm naturally a dirty blonde & have been blonde/cool blonde for over 10 years. Never done anything else to my hair. I rarely ever heat style it. It has been long, thick, and healthy my entire life. All of that changed when I went in for a full foil in 2019 due to my regular stylist leaving my usual salon. I've consistently had full foils every 4 months. I decided to try this place & ended up with destroyed hair. Lost several inches in length, ~25% volume loss, and visibly thin spots. My hair texture was also extremely brittle & frizzy. Basically unmanageable & wouldn't even straighten properly with heat tools so I had to grow it all out & use heat tools maybe 2-3 times per year. I've finally got my thickness & texture back. Anyways, do your research about stylists' abilities & don't just trust anyone to touch your hair. The worst part is they refused to refund me my money. And I tipped because I truly didn't know how bad the damage was until the following several days. I spent hundreds of dollars to fry my hair. read more

Unfortunately this salon has gone down hill with its owner's emotional Rollercoaster. Not only has she fired every great stylist that manages to bring it back to good standards, but depending on the day she'll over charge you then fight with you over it because she can. Once you leave she will then use it to threaten the stylists employment. She can never admit when she's wrong and will make it all your fault. I've been in this salon several times for services. I always looked forward to seeing my stylist (who of course did amazing but no lknger there becausethe owner goes manic). The only anxiety I had was if the owner, Kristen was going to be in. The reason for that is her massive attitude that makes you, the customer, the target of her emotional Rollercoaster. I feel bad for the stylists that have to put up with emotional abuse. I've witnessed her going off for no reason in front of clients. Tip, get your stylists personal contact because Kristen likes to boot them when they outshine her. This salon had potential until the owner made a tornado of drama. Don't call for an appt, she'll bite your head off. Don't ask for a discount, she'll fire the stylist. Don't ask for what you pay for, she'll blast you on all platforms. Time to let this one settle in the hole she's dug for it. Now that most of the great stylists have been fired for standing up to her, its nothing but a mediocre shop that barely compares with super cuts.
