I reserved the 3/4 Chamisa Canyon slot canyon and rappelling tour with this company for our family of 4 which consisted of 2 adults (age 50) and 2 high-school boys. We had an amazing guide who was fun, engaging a knowledgeable about local wildlife and vegetation. After a vigorous but doable 1.5 mile hike we descended thru the canyons. We completed 3 or 4 smaller obstacles that required some roping / tethering then then culminated in the final rappel descent which is exhilarating for newbies to this sport. 100 pct highly recommend. read more

We used this company two years in a row for canyoneering and both times they delivered top notch service and a great experience. This time, actually, was even better, thanks to guides Kate and Fleur. They were exceptional in their knowledge, demeanor, and handling of the group / skillful and appropriate encouragement of individuals during the climb. We did the rockaneering, which was actually more challenging than the climb we did last year and they were able to get us through it feeling successful and accomplished. The hardest part isn't the physical, after all, and they were great about helping us reach our potential. They were also very safe and thorough, seasoned and skilled. The company provides all the gear for you, including helmets, harnesses, and backpacks. You bring your water and gumption! Good shoes are advantageous, but not required. The guides wore climbing shoes that they could also walk in. I did it in Keen sandals/water shoes, which, although not ideal, were still fine. If I were to use them again, I would wear socks with them, just for better grip. (Keen soles are good--my feet were just sliding inside the sandals a bit.) The others in our group wore hiking boots or trail running shoes.You will not need a hat, because you wear the helmet the whole time. Sunglasses are helpful. We went early in the morning, which is key in the summer, because the weather is great and not too hot. This type of adventure experience is definitely the reason to go to Moab. We would absolutely make this company our first choice for rockaneering in any future visits. read more

Did the canyoneering trip to Ephedra's grotto and Morning Glory bridge with the family (girls 14 & 11). It was our last day in Moab and wanted something memorable. We called and they took us in on the last minute too. We are all inexperienced and never rappelled before. Our guide Brett was awesome especially with his calm and soothing "DJ" voice. Instructions are simple and easy to follow. My 11 yr old was starting to become squeamish while waiting for her turn to rappel down but Brett was able to calm her and instruct her how to go down. Great views on top if the Morning Glory Bridge and while "hanging". Hike to and from the place was not bad, nothing too strenuous. Cliffs and canyon gave us one memorable experience! read more

Our family of four (me, husband and two boys age 12 and 10) went Canyoneering for the first time. It was an incredible experience. Our guide Jack was awesome. If you are looking for an incredible canyoneering adventure while visiting Moab, UT I would whole heartedly recommend a small business tucked between 2 giants: MOAB ClLIFFS and CANYONS. There were 14 of us arriving in 4 vehicles: well rested and eager to get started ranging in age from 6 to 71. Adam calmly guided us through our paperwork as a Emily gauged each of us for our Company provided back pack filled with all of the necessary gear to have a SAFE and FUN adventure with room left over for our incidentals. They even provided healthy snacks and bottles of water for the day ahead! Energy was high as we made our final pit stop, collected our back packs and headed for the van. Adam and Emily fielded our questions with knowledge and good natured humor... it was very obvious that they love what they do and enjoy sharing their passion with others. As we neared our destination, the conversation became more serious as Adam asked for our attention and covered safety issues and briefed us on what was expected of us. Our friend, Mike, had previously been out with MOAB CLIFFS and CANYONS and was now trusting them with the majority of his immediate family: 2 grandsons from FL, a grand daughter from CA, 2 nephews from NYC, 2 sons, a daughter-in-law and 2 couples that are long time friends. As we started down the trail I had to smile as the children fell in behind Adam like little ducklings. The great thing is that he had kindness and patience with all of us, but especially the children: part mountain goat and frisky like all young creatures yet they listened when he spoke to them and came to heel quickly eager to see what came next. We learned to take wrist grips to help each other up the more difficult ascends; follow instructions and enjoy the snow melt pools in the slot canyons as the day warmed considerably. Adam and Emily shared lead and tail, working together seamlessly teaching us and building our confidence so that by the end of our day everyone was eager to trust their gear for our 100' rappel. We felt like family as we returned to the van to head back to town. We would all go again! We will certainly see them again if back in the area and recommend them to our families and friends. Highly highly highly recommend CHANDLER!!! Ask for him!!! We did the Looking Glass climb today and had the best experience!!! I had only done an indoor climbing once and my boyfriend had done it twice so we were pretty much beginners. Chandler is very knowledgeable and you can tell he LOVES what he does. My boyfriend is afraid of heights but with Chandler's guidance, he was able to make it all the way and free rappel down. Ancient Art - Tower Climbing All 3 were done with Adam. From start to finish, everything was outstanding. Adam was patient and professional. He was a very good teacher (not everyone is -- I'm not). My lady friend and I were both total newbies to rock climbing and to slot canyoneering, but Adam was able to build up our skills quickly, and we were champs by the end of Day 3. Summiting the corkscrew at Ancient Art was not something I was sure I could follow through with, but I did, and I'm glad I did. The other folks who helped us out at Cliffs & Canyons were helpful as well -- candid about risks and their assessments of our abilities. We walked in and booked but we got lucky, if you don't book in advance their limited guided trip slots will fill quickly. We went on 2 trips with C&C last week. The 1st was a rock climbing excursion to Wall st with Joe. Joe was awesome with the kids, we all had a great time and felt we were in good hands the entire time. The 2nd trip was with Brent on a hike thru the Fiery Furnace. I reached out to a few different agencies to see how receptive they would be in helping me propose to my long time girlfriend. I always envisioned something scenic and the arches in Moab was ideal. A few agencies wrote back to me, but Moab Cliffs and Canyons stood out from the rest. I worked with Chelsea on planning this special moment and couldn't be happier. She was enthusiastic and had plenty of ideas. She and my eventual guide, Dustin, went out earlier to scout for the perfect area. Chelsea sent me emails and pictures with potential spots. She even picked up a home-made sign from me at my hotel. I really appreciated all the help and felt like they were just as excited as me :) Chelsea recommended doing the Rockaneering half day trip. We booked a private sun-set session. Dustin was our guide and was also really knowledgeable and laid back. He told my fiance he needed to "take pictures to update the website" but really was snapping our special moment the whole time. The rock climb wasn't too touch, but there were two pretty strenuous climbs. When we eventually reached the summit, it was absolutely breathtaking. There was not another person in sight. No noise from traffic--Moab was truly stunning. All the while we were hiking, Chelsea's boss Brett trailed not too far behind, out of sight. He was able to take some real good pictures too. Brett also set up my sign underneath a beautiful arch way off in the distance from where we were. While catching our breath, Dustin handed my fiance a pair of binoculars to use. You could make out my banner from the naked eye--Brett also set rocks around it in the shape of a heart--but you'd definitely needed the binoculars to read it. By the time she read it, I was already on bended knee. Dustin was able to capture our moment on camera. It was perfect. I really couldn't ask for a more special moment and I have to attribute a huge amount of credit to this company. The people here are really kind and attentive, you will not be disappointed. Went 1/2 day climbing with Chris Hill and had a great time! My husband and I are at different levels of climbing (he's better) but we both had a great time! It was challenging but still amazing! We learned new techniques and I did crack climbing for the first time. Will definitely come back one day to do the summit climb Chris told us about... (once I get better)! The next day we went 1/2 day canyoneering with Chris Houde and a small group! He took us on a wonderful hike which some of it is unmarked and apparently in training they make the guides do the route in the middle of the night... So he definitely knew the route without a problem. Very safe! Rappelled down a couple nice drops! Both Chris's were great and told us a lot about the area and the history about Moab. Also had great suggestions of where to eat and what hikes to go on in Arches and Canyonlands (where we went the 2nd half of the days)! The whole staff is great and super helpful!
