Eric at Windgate is the guy to see for a great out-of-the-ordinary adventure! While in Moab for a guided bike trip I knew I'd have a few days to look around and made a reservation about 3wks in advance for the Morning Glory half-day canyoneering. This trip was fantastic! We hiked in from the Sand Flats area and then rappelled into the medieval chamber and then between the arch and the canyon wall. Really breathtaking even if you've done some climbing before. Scenery is fantastic. Eric is a by the book safety climber so you're in great hands. His knowledge of the local area and geology is excellent. I will definitely do another trip with him next time I'm in Moab! read more

I cannot day enough good things about this experience. We went canyoneering and rappelling with Eric and it was the most fun We've had in years. What an awesome experience!! My girlfriend and I just finished a 3 week road trip out west and we agree that our canyoneering trip with Eric was the best part of the trip. We chose the Entrajo Canyon adventure and were stoked to find that the canyon was flooded out from recent heavy rains. That meant plenty of canyon pools to swim through and jump into. The 3 rappels were tons of fun especially the last 100' rappel. We had tons of fun but didn't sacrifice safety. One thing for sure is that we felt totally and completely safe with Eric. It was clear that he was an expert when it comes to climbing/canyoneering and this allowed us to just relax and have a good time. Beyond the ropes, Eric was well versed in the local flora and fauna and always pointed out cool things that he saw. What a great dude. It felt like we were hanging out with an old friend. We booked 3 days with Windgate. The first was the Morning Glory rappelling/canyoneering, with our entire family (7 of us). Second day was a Full Day Rock Climbing, and the third day was Canyoneering "Land before Time" (3 of us). In all three cases you get to see pieces of Moab, that are unique and off the beaten path. I had Rock Climbed about 20+ years ago. The other two of us, on the Rock Climbing piece, had zero experience, and a complete fear of heights. Eric, did an outstanding job, of guiding us, and provided excellent equipment. We climbed all day, and frankly, Eric would have been happy to let up keep climbing, as long as we wanted. He can modify this trip based on your experience and comfort level, and we look forward to booking with him again, the next time we are in Moab. We ran into other climbers that had booked multi pitch climbs with Eric, and all seamed to be very happy with him. To be frank, we had not intended to visit Moab, but for this one time, but because of our experience with Windgate, we are planning another trip for next year, and will be booking Eric, for several of those days! read more

I give Windgate Adventures 3 thumbs up... if I only had 3 thumbs! :P I spent the last week in amazement at how beautiful and enchanting the deserts of southern Utah can be. How the sandstone rock formations have changing beauty throughout the course of the day during different lighting of the sun. With that said.... I stumbled upon Windgate Adventures by pure luck through google searches for open air arch rappelling in Moab, UT. Eric is a knowledgeable, friendly, experienced, punctual and professional. He offers adventure tours that include mountain climbing, canyoneering, rappelling and hiking trips both half and full days. I chose the Corona Arch rappel... it was an amazing experience to a 140 ft rappel down the center of the arch where 120 of the feet was open air. Throughout the whole experience Eric took time to make sure that my safety was most important. The next time I am back in Moab, UT I am definitely looking Eric up again to do some canyoneering or mountain climbing. We had the best experience climbing Ancient Art! I don't think I would have felt comfortable climbing this on my own, but Eric was very experienced and makes you feel calm, comfortable, and controlled. Eric is the owner but is also the guide so it's nice to know you'll for sure be with someone experienced and not just some random newbie. He personally knew many of the greats like Dean Potter and Alex Honnold! He also gave us tons of tips on what to do around Moab and the other national parks. Windgate adventures with Eric was an incredible experience! We found Eric by word of mouth when we expressed interest in Canyoneering as we were headed out to mountain bike the day before. We called up Eric and he gave us a couple options for various trips. We settled with Entrajo - two 25 ft repels and one 100 ft repel. Climbed in Red Rocks with Eric and in the Sierra Nevadas. His prices are really reasonable and his ability and safety make for a great trip! Eric is flexible and can accomodate all skill levels which means we could tailor make a trip to my ability and preferences (5.9 and old school trad)! I've climbed Grade IV's and Fourteeners with Eric (some at the same time) and never felt anything but safe and exhilarated at the same time. This is a much-delayed recommendation, but I had a fantastic experience with Windgate in May of 2012. Not only is Moab a fantastic destination, but Eric was timely, responsible, helpful and entertaining. After a discussion about what I was looking to do, we agreed on a beginner's canyoneering tour. Beautiful day, amazing scenery, few people and a guide who was attentive to my needs. He also took the time to take pictures throughout, so I have several of me walking down the side of a wall! :) When I returned home from the trip, I had a surprise waiting for me in the mail that I have stuck to my refrigerator door.
