This is our campsite. Plenty of room for our 6 man tent and we could fit our 4 man next to it if needed. All grass!

Some of these reviews are baffling. I come to this place every year and it is always wonderful! We tent camp so we LOVE the grassy spots, trees for shade, covered picnic tables, fire pits, FREE showers, and CLEAN bathrooms. The staff is super helpful. People have talked about the "noise" from the highway, but even in a tent, I didn't hear anything. The sunrise and sunset views were amazing! I love that it's outside of town so it's quiet and there aren't tons of lights, so you can actually see the stars! It's 10 minutes from Arches National Park, 45 minutes from Canyonlands National Park, 15 minutes from Kens Lake (great for recreation and paddle boarding), and 20 minutes from the La Sal Mountains that are fantastic for side by side riding because it's cooler and has beautiful views. All ya'll complaining need to re-evaluate what camping is supposed to be like. Of course there's dirt, you're camping! If there is anything you need or if you have a concern, the staff will gladly help you or point you in the direction you need to go. The campground owner even went and picked up guests who broke down over an hour away from the campground. These are the type of folks we need running these amazing places. Don't come here if you are going to complain about stupid little things and ruin it for other people. Thank you Moab Rim Campark for another wonderful stay! We will be back next year!

I will definitely be staying here over anywhere else, what a gem! Friendly staff, close area to walk your dog and super animal friendly. We stayed in one of the large cabins and it had blankets and sheets, small pillows and tons of kitchenware. Bring your own towels though! We cooked in and saved a lot of money and loved hanging out in the cabin. Outdoor fire pit, small but useable and outdoor seating too. Came with one bedroom with a large closet, and two twin beds in the other room. Plus a dining table and clean amenities. Laundry mat is on main street nearby. We found that only one person could shower with hot water per morning or evening though. Otherwise it got cold quick. And pizza hut doesn't deliver here so you gotta pick up take out orders!

Staff was EXTREMELY rude. Everything else was par for the cost (been staying in Moab 15 years).

Park is right by the highway and very loud. Not real scenic either. Nicer parks in the area.

Beautiful grassy sites, pet friendly, definitely good value for all that you get here. Awesome views of the slick rocks and the rim!

Ask the Community - Moab Rim Rv Campark

Hello I was wandering if there are any atv riding trails from this property?

There are no trails directly from the property. The closest ones are about 3 miles up on Sand Flats. None of the campgrounds in town have direct trail access without driving on paved roads first for a couple miles

Does the cabins have bathrooms in the cabins? Is there utv access from the park to the trails, or do you have to trailer to the trails?

We do have cabins with their own bathrooms in them. There are no UTV trails directly accessed from the park without driving on paved roads first. If you are street legal you can drive on the pavement. If you are not street legal you will have to… Read more

We stayed here two nights and slept terribly. Even with the free earplugs, we couldn't get a good nights sleep. Everything is so close together you also have no space from your neighbors. When we arrived someone else was encroaching in our site. The shared kitchen and bathroom facilities are nice, hence the 2 instead of 1 star.

The mattresses are what you'd expect for staying off somewhere, not too hard but not too soft. We brought our own pillows so I can't speak to those. The bathroom has hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We didn't use the community areas, but the setup looks great and it has a grill. Cons: Cleanliness is lacking, there are cobwebs throughout. The floor needs a good vacuuming and a heavy mopping done. It looks like only spot cleaning is done when guests leave the property. Seeing the lack of cleanliness made me question if our sheets had actually been washed and that's a gross feeling. The bath tub has no stopper, but using a wash rag worked just fine. The hot water is lacking. A quarter of the way filling the tub the water turned cold, and it took a good 45 minutes for the water to heat back up. With three people needing to bathe/shower, it was problematic and very disappointing after a long day of being out in Arches N.P. Be sure to watch a YouTube video on the Hamilton Beach Brew Station coffee pot before using or you will have watered down cold coffee. Unfortunately, I did this after making our coffee, and wasted the coffee grounds and collagen powder I had brought. There is a lot of road noise, so if you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs. I don't think we will be back here again for the price we paid.

Location A+ I want to share the good first, so I will continue with that. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was quiet at night, everyone respected the quiet and guests were respectful. It was nice to have a pool (although they should really extend their hours and stay open later-8pm pool close is too early when the sun is still cooking. Now for the not so good- where to start :( The staff was never around when folks seemed to need them- I always saw people looking for someone who worked there. The women's bathroom was just unreal how gross it was. I truly think the only thing the staff did daily was empty the trash and refill toilet paper and one of the two paper towel dispensers. Never once cleaned or attempted to clean any of the three showers, sinks or toilet's. The little store they have closed nightly at 7, sometimes sooner. Which really wasn't convenient if you wanted a treat after dinner like an ice cream or adult beverage. You really have to plan ahead. We just went to town, but would have rather supported the camp ground and stayed there. Overall - this could be an AMAZING place. Just needs more staff, and a little more TLC- We would go back if we heard of improvements.

Horsethief Campground is run by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Their mission is "To sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations." I did copy their mission from their website, FYI. Horsethief caught our eye online immediately. Though it did not have any running water offered, it was open during the winter. It also had toilets on site, which was a win for us. We decided to drive to Horsetheif and check it out. They offer both campsites and RV sites, but with no hook ups. All sites are first come, first serve. Which was also fine with us, because again, we were planning on camping during the winter, during a time when they had just had a good amount of snowfall. I was told that it was an unseasonable amount for that area at this time. As we drove we made note of how close the campground was to both Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park. We were planning on visiting both parks, so this seemed ideal. When we pulled in, (and do not blink, you can easily miss the entrance), we knew we found our campground. It was breath taking. The area was spectacular. It was covered with pristine snow and had Pinyon trees all around. It was like we were the only people there, we felt so secluded and protected. We picked tent site 25 and it could not have been more perfect. When we stay at Horsethief again we will aim to get the same site. It was close enough to the bathroom and yet hidden. I fell in love with our site and that campground in the short time we were there. The cost is $20 per night for tent sites and you need to bring exact cash. You simply put your cash in the provided envelopes and drop it in the drop box. When we visited there were no pens/pencils, and we did not travel with any, but I hope they know that we were the ones that paid. Please if you stay a night at Horsethief, please pay your fee, the money goes directly to the BLM and that is how they support taking care of their land. It was magnificent and I can not wait to return.
