We planned a fun trip to Moab to see the National Parks and wanted to make it affordable. We are campers and came across Up the Creek Campground on a web search. It was cheaper than getting a hotel in town and sounded more adventurous. We were sold on having a bathhouse with a shower and flush toilets. There is also a sink to do dishes in and outlets to charge your electrical devices. The nice that is that the campground is right off the main road if you need to pick up anything or want to eat out instead of cooking your own food. Up the Creek Campground has 16 tent-only sites that are nestled within a grove of large shade trees. I was a little worried about noise because this place was a few blocks from the main road. But everything was surprisingly very peaceful for us. The best part about this place was being a short drive from both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. There are also grilling stations and a couple patio games like Corn Hole games here at Up the Creek. The only bummer during our time here was a major rain storm that passed by one day. It rained hard for hours that day. Up the Creek Campground offers sensible weather coverage per day if it rains over 1.5 mm per hour for over 2 hours during day time hours. I appreciated the refund for that day because we had to take shelter in our tent all day. Great place if you don't mind camping. You can walk-up or book ahead of time. read more

First thing I asked was, " Is there any Propane in the Tanks?" Well there should be. Was the answer I got. Ended up running out of Gas Two times. The 3rd Grill was across camp in another person area at 9:30pm. Meals ruined now. Have fun finding food at this hour. Shouldn't mention a Creek that you can't see or access. Couldn't believe how many Triggers I got attacked by! Moved down by the Colorado River, didn't have that issue? The table that is Covered in Tree Ooze, that they can't seem to just move to eliminate the issue. Or maybe as they text me about the Propane issue; they will get to it tomorrow. Not a Happy Camper! Especially since I got charged for a night I wasn't there! At least there was a Shower? And the other Travelers! That's it! read more

I hesitate to convey how wonderful this place is. I don't want it to be sold out every time I try to book a spot. despite that, it's a wonderful spot with an incredibly convenient location. My favorite thing is being able to take a nice warm shower in a clean bathroom after a five or six hour hike or bike ride. City market is two blocks away which is the main grocery store in Moab and Main Street with all the bars and restaurants is basically a block away but you have none of the noise or hectic part associated with being in the middle of the action. It's a very peaceful spot and the grills for cooking are also a very handy feature. Once you once you stay here it will be an annual event. read more

Spent just one night st this little campground. We enjoyed our night of camping at Up The Creek in downtown Moab. The location is right down the road from bars, restaurants, markets, and gift shops. It is also next to a dog park and some busy streets so you may hear some noise at night. Thankfully for us by the time we went to bed it was quiet. Each site comes with a picnic table and access to a gas grill and showers (no time limit). The place is very self-serve and chill. Nice flowers and a river surround the campsite and while close to each other, you have enough space to have some privacy here. Price seems fair for what you get here. We noticed the glamping tents but didn't get a chance to peak inside. read more

The amenities/creature comforts here are endless: - Free (HOT!) showers for campers with no time limit. - Very clean restrooms with electrical plugs - Utility sink for dishwashing and hand wash laundry - Drinking water - Ice for sale - Big trees for shade - Book Exchange Library - Picnic tables and community grills - Peaceful garden area The campsite starts at $15 per person. It's a little more pricey than other areas in town, but it's worth every penny! You definitely get what you pay for. I did a lot of research and found horror stories about the other, cheaper campsites in town with random people wandering into the campsite and stealing coolers, etc. No thank you!! Up the Creek Campground was peaceful, quiet, and most importantly safe! There's a small creek nearby which provides nice background noise. You can also see deer early in the mornings. TENTS ONLY! Cars and RVs are not allowed in the actual campsite. Park in the parking lot at the front and use the wheel barrels to bring your stuff in. It's a very short walk. If you're checking in after hours, check the message board at the front. You'll sign in there and any information you need about the campground. The only downside was the mosquitoes at nighttime. Bring some bug spray and you'll be fine. I would also try to shower the night before. Everyone tries to use the showers in the morning. Shower at night, so you have no rush. Bring a headlamp and a couple lanterns for nighttime. The bathhouse area has ample lighting, but the tent areas are dark after sun down. read more

This is the best campground for coming and going in Moab, and clearly run by someone that understands campers. We ended up staying here twice, one night before leaving on a canoe trip and the night coming back. I think its location in town is probably a clue that this isn't a "camping in nature" sort of campground, but rather a place for campers to sleep before or after other nearby nature adventures. I loved (LOVED!) that it was all tent camping (we actually got in so late the first night that we rolled out our sleeping bags and slept under the stars) and the wheelbarrows to transport your stuff to and from the car parking lot were perfect. Clean bathrooms, and a separate outside sink for doing dishes. Pricey, but way less than we would have paid for a hotel room. I noticed a trail across from where we slept, and saw a lot of early morning dog walkers. This isn't the place you're going to go for a week-long camping experience, but I have recommended it to everyone I know that's traveling through the area. read more

My boyfriend and I reserved a spot for a night about a week in advance online and arrived at the campsite with no issues at all. Super clean, incredibly convenient, and really quiet campsite! We also made use of the grill that they provided right next to our spot. Definitely will be considering this campsite when I visit Moab again :) read more

Moab has become quite the busy spot for dust crusted outdoor junkies... Making it harder to find lodging. If you are looking for tent camping with showers, a place to cook and wash your dishes this is an awesome little campground located right in the middle of this red desert town. It's not as cheap as the local hostel it starts around 15$ per person per night but it's clean smells like blooming roses and has it's own parking lot. Cars are not permitted to park near the tents but it's a short walk. We used it as a break between camping up in canyonlands whose campgrounds do not have water or showers ..... Within the park. Tip: reserve in advance especially if you're headed here in May or June which are peak season months for this town. My only gripe are the people who picked up camp at 6am using the plastic wheel barrows provided. Suddenly I found myself awakening to what sounded like a coffin being dragged across nails while I was already short on sleep. If they would just take away those wheelbarrows I would give this place five stars. read more

Stayed here in July of 2021. Great location. Very peaceful. The couple who manages the place are very nice and do an excellent job. Very clean facilities. And you hardly ever see them. Great campsite! Perfectly located a couple blocks from Main Street Moab, so nestled close enough yet quietly down from the hustle and bustle of the town. The campsites are a perfect size with a picnic table at each site. We camped here for 2 nights and we loved the cleanliness of the whole facility and obviously the convenience of the location. LOVED the little library box located in front of the bathroom facilities and easy access to drinking water. Plan to come back the next time we are in Moab! read more

Up the Creek was the perfect stop for us on our road trip. The facility was extremely clean. COVID precautions were taken very seriously. The facility provided free masks for the bathrooms and disinfecting bottles to spray down common spaces after use. Extra toilet paper was provided in the bathrooms so there was no worry of running out while staff was not on site. The showers were hot if needed. Our family utilized the communal bbqs to warm up our breakfast and found it so helpful to not have to unload our own gear for our short stay. We also appreciated the ice on site. Bags of ice are $3. The owners were extremely accommodating in making sure our two campsites were next to each other. The best part of this place is how quiet the spot is. The walk from campsite to car in extremely close, but this detail does make your stay more relaxing and enjoyable. I look forward to coming back. read more

While this place looks very nice, I don't understand their no cancellation policy. They can easily resell a night like most places, and wish they could refund me when I had to change my travel plans and notified them a month in advance. I don't see how covid makes a difference; every campground and hotel I've booked has a refund before a certain window. read more

This walk/bike in campground is just a street away from downtown Moab, which is why we decided to try it out for two nights. It has lots of trees and shade, is between a creek, a little field of flowers, hammocks and non noisy chickens and a nifty looking private residence. There is a school across the creek, which was completely desolate during our summer visit. The tent spots and picnic tables are alternately circled under cottonwood trees, and surrounded by a swath of manicured grass. The spots were too close for my liking, but there were NO RVs, the campers were pretty quite and the location was beyond convenient. (I usually camp in the backcountry or on Forest Service/BLM land, but sometimes it is nice to sleep near so many trail heads and foodie options.) There is, of course, a bicycle rack provided. If you have a crying baby/child, or want to stay up late calling the moon, this would not be the best fit for you, but if you like to get some good shut eye and get outside before 10 am, you will enjoy the conveniences of this site. MY FAVORITE THING WAS: Hot Showers included with camping fee. No timer. No Quarters. Sweet! I really like this cute little campground. It's clean, convenient to everything, and relatively safe. When I chose this campground safety was at the forefront of my mind because I was camping alone. I didn't want to camp on the outskirts of town because I heard stories about the unruly behavior that sometimes occurs there. I felt safe camping here and it was nice knowing Main Street was just one block away in case of an emergency. Because of the trees and serene stream running beside the property you might not realize how close you actually are to Main Street. In a way, it's a tiny oasis. Sand Flat Road which leads to the slick rock region is very close by. Only tents are allowed at this campground. read more

Great central camping spot in Moab Camped here 3 nights in early April 2015 for Easter Jeep Safari. The grounds are clean and simple, if a bit rocky (it is smooth river rock though.) Despite the location near the main drag, noise was not an issue nor was light. In fact, you will certainly need a lantern for your site and a flashlight/headlamp for getting around after sundown. The creek provides subtle white noise, especially at the southern end of the west side where there is very small artificial falls. If you prefer NOT to have that prominently in the background as you sleep, you may want to request a site mid-way up on the east side. However, note that the restrooms/showers are at the north end of the east strip of campsites. Speaking of, the men's restroom has 2 sinks, 2 toilets/stalls, and 2 showers with a bench just outside them. There is a shelf adjacent to the sinks with a few hooks underneath as well as a couple hooks per shower. Each shower has tiled floors with its own sliding, screened window and (painted) brick enclosing walls which are about 5 feet high and have a flat surface to put your stuff on top of. Everything was very clean and well-kept! (Recommend showering at night or before 6 AM to avoid the morning "rush"...) The women's facilities appear to be identical from the outside, though I can't confirm. There is a utility sink for washing dishes, etc. on the south side of the restroom building though I never used it myself. In fact, I spent little time at the campground aside from sleeping, but the location is great if you're looking to relax at your site. Every site has a solid picnic table and there are a handful of grills around the grounds. As this is a walk-in campground, you'll park away from your tent site and plenty of handcarts are provided to portage your gear in and out with. There are a couple of (covered) trash and recycling bins among the sites. read more

Overall, a really nice place. We stayed 4 nights, and I would have been happy to stay longer. We had some shady spots, and greatly enjoyed being right in the middle of town, walking distance to all the local joints. The bathroom/showers are excellent, the dishwashing stand is awesome, and the overall vibe is really low-key due to the "walk-in" format. There is ice available in the campground too, which is very convenient -- no travel to the store for that. I thought I would miss the campfire, but I didn't. I've noticed that the word "campground" these days usually means "RV campground". If you're looking for a campground for tents only and doesn't allow RV's, then this may be the place for you. Before you make reservations here, realize that you need to cart or carry your camping gear a short distance to your tent site. This allows the campground to be vehicle-free and therefore very peaceful and quiet. My wife and I stayed here four nights and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's next to the small Mill Creek and has several large cottonwoods that allow both sun and shade throughout the day. The campground allows for easy access to downtown Moab and there's a bike trail along Mill Creek so you can walk or bike downtown without ever having to inhale carbon monoxide on main street. The bathrooms are very clean and had plentiful hot water. There's a large sink outside of the bathroom/shower building which is great for washing dishes and there's also an outlet where you can charge your phone. If we decide to camp inside Moab city limits again, we will definitely come back to Up the Creek Campground. read more

My husband and I stayed here last week as part of our 10 day trip across Southern Utah. This was one of our favorite campgrounds from the trip. We were not sure what to expect and were worried that we would have to haul our stuff quite a ways in the heat (it was around 109 F). We were pleasantly surprised by how tiny the campground was. Our spot was a short 1 minute walk from our car, and there were plenty of wheelbarrows to haul our stuff back and forth. The bathrooms were fine (I've seen better, and I've see worse!). I saw a few reviews stating that they were not private enough (low doors on toilets and showers), but I was perfectly comfortable. They have a kitchen sink available for you to wash your dishes and fill up your water (it's drink-able). They have ice for sale (honor system). There were several families there- definitely a great place to take kids! We will stay here in the future. We stayed at another campground in Moab, and Up the Creek was definitely the winner! read more

This spot had way more pluses than minuses: all reservations done by email w friendly & speedy reply, all questions answered promptly. Very convenient location with NO MOTORHOMES, generators, or car alarms. The people camping here are friendly, quiet, and "like minded" & considerate since the spaces are VERY TINY. Up the Creek could easily yank out a few spots to give everyone a little more space. The only nitpicking I can add is the size of the spaces & the rocks. It was difficult to walk on the rocks & get those tent stakes in but otherwise this campground was great! The showers are clean & everything was well kept with plenty of signage & instructions. The general vibe was very positive, loved this place & hope to return! read more

The campground is right outside downtown Moab, which is great! The creek running adjacent to the campground is wonderful! You hear it all night long and it lulls you to sleep. It's a fairly quiet campground and you can't really hear any traffic or anything. The campground itself appears to be on someone's private property and adjacent to their home and backyard, but that doesn't really matter. The sites are somewhat close together, but each site does get it's own picnic table. We had trouble getting the anchor spikes in for our tent (like there was a layer of concrete under the dirt/soil) and I did notice that some other tents had the same issue. However, this wasn't all sites - it appeared to be those more towards the back of the campground. The showers and toilets were nothing to write home about - clean, hot, and effective. If you can't get a spot on BLM land or up in one of the parks, this is a pretty good option! read more

Great campsite for basic camping with some helpful amenities. I stayed there for 3 nights in May. Its only a block and a half from Main Street, so its very convenient to walk into town. Not being able to park next to your campsite is actually nice. It keeps things more quiet and even the farthest sight from the parking lot is only a 30 second walk. The carts they provide make it super easy to carry your stuff. There are huge cottonwoods that give plenty of shade - no, your campsite will not be in the shade all day. You see, the earth spins and rotates around the sun. That changes where the sun and shade are. If moving your chair to a new shade spot every few hours is too much for you, stay in a hotel. The bathrooms and showers are basic and clean. There is sink with cleaning supplies for washing dishes. There is drinking water on site and one of those giant coolers with bags of ice to purchase. These little amenities were great for me because I was on a motorcycle and can't just carry all the water and ice I need. There is a picnic table at each site and a few "community" gas grills for people to use. I had just a single person tent, but you can easily fit 2 large tents on a site. I would definitely stay there again and may try one of their canvas tents next time. read more

Found this tents-only walk-in campground web surfing for our visit to Arches National. If you've never experienced this type of campground it may or may not be your cup of tea. After parking, you'll need to grab a push cart to bring your belongings to your assigned campsite. Vehicles are not allowed beyond the parking lot. Pros: Vehicles not allowed beyond the parking lot. No cars equals less dust stirred up and less noise or lights from late arrivals. No RVs - a real plus if you're in a tent. I hate listening to compressors all night long. Spotless restrooms (even on Memorial Day they were nice and clean) Tiled shower area with plenty of hot water - no coin operated timed shower! Yay!! Power available in the bathroom for electrical items like hair dryer or cell phone. Nice dish washing station with double stainless steel sink, spray faucet, drying rack and good counter area! Makes doing the dishes a more pleasant experience. Power plug-in to the grid located near dish wash station. Nice for recharging cell phone. Small campground with grassy area. Beautiful large old shade trees at all campsites. Located easy walking distance to the Dog Park and Slick rock biking trail. Walking distance to town (if you can walk after having hiked all day in Arches!) Charming zen-like vibe (wildflowers, large shade trees, lovely views and small creek borders property) Cons: Noise during the day - located next to a dog bark and RV repair station. Both close long before most folks bedtime. Might be a problem if you have plans for a midday nap. (RV repair business starts early. Occasional sound of impact wrenches and compressors). Also, you'll hear distant traffic noise as they are located in town too. No free Wi-Fi (shouldn't you be hikin, bikin, and floatin the river...not web surfing!) Must use a push cart to tote belongings. (dust prevention makes this into a plus for me) A little pricier than some of the other campgrounds but imho - worth it! We loved this place and will be back. FYI Set up is on sandy area in front of grass. Grass is watered regularly. If you position your tent a few feet from the grass you'll avoid sprinkler overspray. read more

Great little tent campground in Moab, conveniently close to town, and just a 10 minute drive down the road from the entrance to Arches National Park. We chose this place because when we arrived in Moab it was raining fairly hard, and the guys at Gearheads recommended this spot because it was high enough not to be flooded by the rains but was still close to the park. The campground area was quiet and well maintained, with an abundance of wildflowers growing everywhere. The bathrooms were clean and comfortable, and the hot showers were a special treat! Each site had its own picnic table, and grills were scattered around the campground for folks wanting to bbq. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. I felt safe and comfortable here, and would recommend camping here if you're not able to camp within the park. Potable water sources available here, and a big outdoor sink for cleaning dishes, etc. The stars at night were beautiful from here too! read more

My bf and I stayed here for a couple nights while exploring Arches. The campground and individual plots are fairly small, but the campground hosts have done a really wonderful job creating a cozy campsite. We loved the utility sink for washing dishes--a nice break after camping at a National Forest site--as well as the wheelbarrows for unpacking the car and the tree-shaded grass that borders all the campsites. We didn't end up using them, but the grill, ice machine, and electrical outlets near the utility sink could also be really nice to have. We especially appreciated the owners' efforts to prevent the spread of COVID, with free masks outside the bathroom and a bottle of disinfecting spray inside. The biggest downside to our trip to Moab was the inconsistent mask-wearing and social distancing measures, but we never felt more protected from the virus in Utah than at this campsite. It was our first experience in an urban campsite, and though there was a bit more noise than at more isolated campgrounds, it was a worthwhile trade off for a convenient location with lots of amenities (and far easier to reserve than the campsites inside the park!). We were pleasantly surprised with our three nights at the campground. We usually try to stay at national park campsites, but with Arches having only one campground that fills up months in advance for the busy summer season, we took our chances with something right in town. The camp is just a block off the main street in town, and close to just about everything you might need. There is a grocery store (w/ gas station), laundromat, and a host of places to eat/drink with close proximity. There is also a city walking/biking path that runs just on the other side of the creek from the camp. The camp itself is pretty nice, better than we expected. If you drive, you have to park in the lot up front (plenty of spaces, some even in the shade) and then wheel your stuff to your site. Several wheelbarrows are provided by the camp, and we never felt like there was competition to get one when you needed it. We were also surprised that it wasn't a very far walk. Granted, we were toward the front of camp, but even the ones further back weren't too far away. The sites themselves are pretty nice. Each as a picnic table, and many have shade during various parts of the day, though some more than others. Directions at the front of the camp explain where you can set your tent up on each site so that you're not on top of anyone else's stuff and as long as you stay off the grass your stuff won't get wet when they turn the sprinklers on. Bathrooms were decent as well. We've seen better, including in the national park system, which tend to be a little cheaper at times. But we've also seen much worse. They're cleaned everyday, and the showers have enough hot water. There's also a sink to clean your dishes or fill your water bottles/hydration packs. There were even electric outlets that often had phones/tablets charging, which seemed like a convenient thing. An ice box was located there in case you needed to buy some, with payment on the honor system. Staff wasn't present on site, but they came by a few times each day to take are of routine cleaning/tasks and had their phone numbers listed for anything more pressing. We found it to be a nice experience and would probably stay again if we were in town. read more

I really like that the campground is tent-only and walk-in from the parking lot. No RVs, no generators, no doors slamming or cars beeping with every lock and unlock of the doors. The showers were great, the bathroom was clean (flush toilets!), and there was a dishwashing sink, which are all better than NPS campgrounds. The grounds are well-maintained and very clean with some shade from the cottonwoods along the creek. The drawback is how close the individual sites are to one another. There is nothing between most sites. There are picnic tables fifteen feet apart, and your site includes a picnic table and the space between your table and your neighbor's table to your left. The campground is in town, which may be a plus or minus depending on your style and preference: you don't need to drive thirty minutes from dinner back to your campsite; there is a 7-11 at the end of the block. I would not stay here if the campground were full because the sites are so close to each other. I would recommend it to a friend and I would stay again if it's not full. read more

We LOVED this campsite. It was clean, and very beautiful. It was also very quiet...no loud RV's was a huge plus. Since we have young kids we were very happy to find a site that didn't have traffic. They could walk around and play without worry of them getting run over. As another reviewer mentioned there is ice, which is a great convenience, and time saver. Our only complaint about the place, as another reviewer pointed out, is the ground is very hard and rocky. We bent a few stakes trying to hammer them into the ground. We ended up having to move the tent a few inches, but once we got that done, everything else at the site was pleasant. We even saw a family of deer on the last morning there. Our son shouted 'Deer!' we thought for sure he would have spooked them, but they must be a little used to humans because we were able to watch them and take pictures for a while. It really was a great way to end our stay there. We will definitely be back! (I posted pictures of the site, including the deer). read more
