Both chalets had excellent bed linens and comfortable beds, which along with the crisp mountain air made for wonderful nights' sleep. I liked the layout of the Garden Chalet better, and appreciated the dimmer switches on the lights and the high kitchen counter bar and the high dining table. The shower was better too, although the Dragonfly bathroom was more practically laid out. You don't have much privacy at the garden chalet, with windows to parking and paths on most sides. Dragonfly is more secluded. Oddly, the kitchen dishes and equipment was different at the two chalets.

It's the Perfect Little Chalet for a Romantic Mountain Getaway!…read more My husband and I have stayed at the Cedar House several times in the past couple of years. We absolutely love it...so we decided to visit again for my Birthday this past weekend. There are 3 chalets to choose from, although we always book the Cedar Chalet. Darrin had a fire going in the wood stove when we got there, making it warm and inviting after our long drive. There's a fully equipped kitchen, a big couch that's perfect for cuddling up by the fire and the bed is ridiculously comfortable...which made it very difficult to get up on time to hit the slopes the next day. If you are staying at the chalet, you absolutely must visit the restaurant! I can easily say that the best meals I have ever had, have been at the Cedar House! The menu always has an interesting variety of dishes, as well as great vegetarian options. On our last visit, my husband and I shared their delicious Bison turnovers as an appetizer. For our main course, Darrin recommended the sablefish, which was so tender it almost melts in your mouth! After our dessert we returned to our chalet for a soak in the private hot tub and watched the stars. The Cedar House is truly the perfect place for a romantic weekend in the mountains! Darrin is a wonderful host and always makes sure we are well cared for and comfortable. Can't wait to go back!

It is run by a lady whom at times can be quite rude, but is overall provides acceptable service most of the time. some of the rooms are dorm style, so make sure you know what you are booking so that you are not staying with others if you dont want to. the prices are reasonable but not particularly cheap.

We opted for the sunshine patio along with a mix of in-house guests and locals. Nancy, the hostess, was exemplary with her quick and very cheerful efficiency as the only front-of-the-house magician ensuring everyone was looked after (and warned if they'd have to wait a smidging due to so many recent arrivals). Along with her kitchen brigade they fed everyone quickly and with a smile. I had the Popeye Benny $10.50 which was 2 eggs on whole wheat bagel with pan fries. Hollandaise may have been authentic, or in the least from a good quality package brand. However, we all found the pan fries to be too small, too fried and too greasy. Our two sons enjoyed double eggs and french toast $8.50 per person, and hubby had Huevos $11.50 which he really enjoyed. You order at the counter and help yourself to teas etc then Nancy delivers your meal to your table. Quick, efficient and cheerful process thanks again to Nancy's great attitude. We wouldn't hesitate for a moment to return to Bugaboo Cafe in the Kicking Horse River Lodge.

The cabin had ample room for all of us with a queen sized bed in the bedroom with delightfully European duvets and comfortabel but firm matress. The boys slept on the fold down futon in the living room. Kitchenette was well stocked with all the amenities except for bar sized fridge was a little disappointing. Bathroom had a shower with hot hot water! And everything was clean and well kept and wonderfully manicured and landscaped. A fairytale camping spot with all the luxuries of a hotel. The huge firepit was a hit with the boys and there was even a barbeque for grilling outside. The dogs were more than thrilled to wander the woods and meadows without a care. Hubert and Sonja the owners were a pleasure and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. Our only regret was that we didn't take the oportunity to book a dinner at the main lodge to try the food. Just outside of Golden a five minute drive so access to amenities is easy. We will definitely return here next summer.

Found the housekeeping did well at first sight and closer look at closet window etc it was Bed is medium soft so we didn't mind. And the pillows case had stitched in ( soft hard ) nice touch Though both rooms we felt it was a bit colder, even though we spent a few minutes trying to figure out how to get the furnace to blow warm air. After at least 10 minutes in both rooms we gave up. First night we went into the hot tub and pool area ( hot tub wasn't extremely hot 40 c more like 30, no way to adjust the temperature and the jets were not that powerful). But still nice enough to soak in. The pool was nice though . The breakfast Continental was extreme there was ( pancake, omelette, sausage, potatoes, cold cereal, oatmeal, toast, bagels, yogurt, juice's coffee teas, cinnamon buns fruit hard boiled cold eggs ) wow !!

Our rooms was nice and clean, we had a great view of the mountains. I loved opening the drapes every morning to get that view. The front desk person was friendly and helpful. We had no issues and the place was completely full. The complimentary breakfast was good. Scrambled eggs, omelettes, turkey sausage patties or pork links, and various fruit. The fruit was always plentiful. They also had cinnamon buns, yogurt, boiled eggs, a pancake machine, oatmeal and the list goes on. The breakfast area although busy was kept clean and stocked. Coffee was always fresh and no line up when I went to get breakfast or coffee. In general this was a clean hotel. The only thing I have a suggestion on, is there's a sign in the room saying if you don't want new towels keep them hung up, if you want them replaced throw them on the floor. Well we always hung ours up and they gave us fresh ones each time. We did discuss it with the front desk to which they only said "ok thanks". That's my only suggestion if I don't want a new towel don't give me one please. I would stay here again. The price was right as well. We paid $800 for the 3 nights.
