The town Golden is surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery (of which a tiny bit is actually visible from the living room of the guest apartment) and Yoho and Banff National Parks can easily be explored on day trips (car needed).

We had two bedrooms and a living room with a fold out couch bed. A bathroom and a small kitchen. Outside, there was a small deck with a table and a barbecue with a beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains. The food here is absolutely outstanding! It was all fresh, home made, and delicious! The breakfast was amazing. We were obsessed with the homemade oatmeal pancakes. We also came here for dinner and got the schnitzel. The schnitzel was by far and away the great schnitzel i've ever had. We definitely had a great stay here and I highly recommend staying here if you plan on coming to Golden. Summer or Winter.

Found the housekeeping did well at first sight and closer look at closet window etc it was Bed is medium soft so we didn't mind. And the pillows case had stitched in ( soft hard ) nice touch Though both rooms we felt it was a bit colder, even though we spent a few minutes trying to figure out how to get the furnace to blow warm air. After at least 10 minutes in both rooms we gave up. First night we went into the hot tub and pool area ( hot tub wasn't extremely hot 40 c more like 30, no way to adjust the temperature and the jets were not that powerful). But still nice enough to soak in. The pool was nice though . The breakfast Continental was extreme there was ( pancake, omelette, sausage, potatoes, cold cereal, oatmeal, toast, bagels, yogurt, juice's coffee teas, cinnamon buns fruit hard boiled cold eggs ) wow !!

Our rooms was nice and clean, we had a great view of the mountains. I loved opening the drapes every morning to get that view. The front desk person was friendly and helpful. We had no issues and the place was completely full. The complimentary breakfast was good. Scrambled eggs, omelettes, turkey sausage patties or pork links, and various fruit. The fruit was always plentiful. They also had cinnamon buns, yogurt, boiled eggs, a pancake machine, oatmeal and the list goes on. The breakfast area although busy was kept clean and stocked. Coffee was always fresh and no line up when I went to get breakfast or coffee. In general this was a clean hotel. The only thing I have a suggestion on, is there's a sign in the room saying if you don't want new towels keep them hung up, if you want them replaced throw them on the floor. Well we always hung ours up and they gave us fresh ones each time. We did discuss it with the front desk to which they only said "ok thanks". That's my only suggestion if I don't want a new towel don't give me one please. I would stay here again. The price was right as well. We paid $800 for the 3 nights.

Being from Hawaii, we wanted to vacation somewhere with lots of snow, was quiet and secluded, and had the opportunity to view and interact with nature and animals. Calling Horse Lodge (located outside Golden BC) checked all the boxes - and more. Hosts - Ralph, Gaelle and their family were WONDERFUL hosts. They were friendly, welcoming, helpful, easy to communicate with (before, during and after our stay), answered all of our questions, happy to have a friendly chat, etc. Cabin - We stayed in the downstairs 2 bedroom suite of a beautiful log home. I believe there are also 1 bedroom units upstairs as well. It was clean, well decorated and had everything you need for a comfortable stay - full kitchen with dishes, utensils and appliances (stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, etc.); comfy beds; separate toilet and shower rooms; heater; wifi; wet room/coat room; etc. Property - Located about 20 minutes from Golden BC. Snow tires/AWD/4WD recommended if traveling here during the winter months. Beautifully situated in the Canadian Rockies. The views are magnificent. Lots of opportunities to explore the surrounding area. Shared hot tub on property. Fire pit. Horses. Chicken coup. 3 friendly (and vocal) dogs who are happy to have your attention. We visited during the winter and LOVED the opportunity to enjoy the cold and snow. I'm sure, however, visiting during the spring or summer months would be just as spectacular. When we got settled in our room realized our toilet was leaking water all over the floor called and they sent housekeeping who put towels down and said there wasn't any rooms to move and nothing they could do. Later noticed our room had swarms of fruit flys and big black flys in it Pool and slide were nice, hot tub was pretty grimy. No where to hang clothes and the parking lot lights shone through the curtains all night which is great if you need a bright light all night... The continental breakfast was alright, only 3/4 tables and room was packed all morning hard to get somewhere to sit for breakfast. Been here years ago. This time staying in older area of Motel. Stinky solvent like air freshener…read moresmell. Will post disgusting bathroom pics to follow. No tub plug on drain. Bugs on window, termite ants on window ledge, possibly dried cockroach skeleton on sheets, spongy tile floor, fridge rattles from bad compressor(had to unplug it), heat not working, dirty curtains, dated microwave(scary), traffic noise, windows don't open, main light fixture in room out, desk clerk no speak English. Argumentative over service dog. Improve? Tear it down, sell off assets inferior to Travelodge or Wyndham name. Not coming back.
