Despite it essentially being a gas station, this Maplefields is different. The inside feels almost artisanal, with its brick walls and strong selection of local products. If you're into Vermont craft beer, Maplefields has a great selection. I needed coffee and this Maplefields had the most impressive selection of Green Mountain Coffee I've seen anywhere. This includes all the flavors you can't find in grocery stores. Overall I was really impressed and I would not just consider this Maplefields to be your average gas station/convenience store.

The kids and I were hungry for lunch so I ventured inside the station (oops, sorry, the "market"), to ask if there was a restaurant or diner nearby they'd recommend. What the guy behind the counter said to me just astounded me. He said "I have no idea. I never eat out". Like, what? I repeated, well, has he heard of any decent places from anyone (thinking, surely, in this small town, even if it's true that this guy never ever ever had a meal outside of his White River Junction home, surely he's HEARD of a restaurant that was good, right?). Nope! He said perhaps the restaurant down the street was good but he doesn't know, he 's never been there, he's "an eat-in kind of guy". I am quoting him verbatim. Meanwhile, he never looked up at me, as he was sorting money in the cash register. Not once did he look up, or make any sort of eye contact. This whole exchange was out of a Jerry Seinfeld episode (for those of you who get the reference!). Who out there lives in a small town (let alone, perhaps, a large city) who can't recommend a place for a passer-through to get lunch? Worst customer service ever.

When I pointed this out the emoyees reaponded by saying "they must not have changed the sticker", and "the sale ended yesterday". The employees took the attitude that I should clearly understand that the price at the register is the correct one and I was annoying for bringing up the discrepancy. This is false advertising at best, fraud at worst if customers don't cartch the discrepancy. This has happened here in the past but the clerks were cooler about it and honored the posted price. Given the experiences I've had recently I will not only not be returning, and registering complaints with the BBB at Attorney General's office.

Cold and snowy day... January 22, 2025…read more.. Southbound on the 91outside of White River Junction, VT... sensed a strong odor of antifreeze... pulled into a gas station... Yep... broken water pump and overheating... Mind you, this GMC 2018 Sierra (fully paid off)... has gotten me completely cross country back in October, 2024... with no issues, not even a scratch... Vehicle is towed to Bob's Service Center at 10 am that day... Not Bob, but Josh... "Let's see, water pump, coolant and belt tensioner assembly need replacing... it'll be ready by two..." Josh was right on schedule... Professional, thorough, and kind... Picked up the vehicle... warranted work for 2 years/24,000 miles... back on the freeway I went... only a few hours delay... but no matter... the vehicle must be reliable... It was... Coldest day in White River Junction... This driver and owner will seek these gentlemen out for future auto repairs... they are simply the best... And kind... They explained everything... I do appreciate the thoughtful and thorough approach... A cold day driving with a vehicle failure... could have been made much more difficult... but it was not... it was a beautiful day...
