I've always liked mikes. It's right down the road from me so it's very convenient whether I want a coffee and a breakfast sammy or a 12 pack after work. I will say the quality in their sandwiches and deli foods has gone down since they sold out to jakes, but the staff is always friendly and it has a cool small town vibe Edit: the fried chicken is outta this world. used to live above the store, been going since I was only 4yo I love the place, I get the same sandwich every time I go. its gotten to the point where I can walk in stand at the deli give the guy(I do not know his name but he's awesome) a nod and he just makes it. This little hole-in-the-wall was recommended to us by our Airbnb host who described it as having some of the finest deli fried chicken around. Well we didn't end up getting the fried chicken (we were picking up food to bring with us on a day-long hike), but we can say that the sandwiches are excellent. My husband got the Cuban, while I got a Thanksgiving sandwich. Both were absolute beasts and enough for two meals if you are a sane person. The Cuban was the winner of the two, with tons of smoked meat and tangy deliciousness from the pickles and mustard. We ate the whole thing in one sitting against our better judgement, it was that good. The Thanksgiving was also tasty and very comforting but suffered more from sitting in my car all day. I'm sure it's delicious enjoyed fresh. Both sandwiches were reasonably priced. We would definitely come back if ever in the area again. read more

I managed to find this place on a trip back from Stowe just to grab gas. Figured I would stop in to grab some gas station cuisine for the road and wow, they had their own fried chicken, sandwiches and everything. Bone in, tenders, pre dipped tenders on a stick for those driving. I expected cheaply battered legs and breasts being a gas station, but I was extremely satisfied to find that their chicken was probably some of the best that I have ever had. Great seasoning, crunch, moist and reasonably priced. The "jo jos" are potato wedges and massive. They were a little more bland than I normally like but hey, can't have it all. Just don't go on Sundays. We detoured off the route just to grab chicken and found that they do not do bone in on Sunday. The tenders were fine but I was definitely looking forward the other pieces. Prices were fair. Kids meal of two tenders, two big wedges and a soda from the shelf was $3.99. read more

Absolutely delicious food with a very short wait time. When people hear it is also a gas station they are put off but it is nothing like the normal rest stop gas station. They have fresh donuts along with an array of sandwiches, chicken, and Jo Jos (fried potato wedges). The staff are always extremely kind and helpful. The food is a great price and easy to quickly grab pay and go; I strongly recommend it. read more

Mike's has gone downhill SO BAD. the chicken isn't the same, the fried food is cheap and unedible. The new staff you have are incompetent and don't ever make anything correctly and when you do speak up about it being wrong you're met with nothing but attitude and rolling of their eyes. The girls are clearly catty and hearing them trash talk customers after they leave the store is just super classy. Just change the name to jakes. It's not Mike's anymore. It's a fucking joke. I attempted to make a pit stop here and grab a bite to eat while traveling up I-91. I was completely and utterly turned off by this place. There's a sign that says "good food, clean rest rooms" and some other nice things. When I asked where the bathroom was, I was told, "men's room is outside and to the left." You know what was there? Two port-a-potties! Gross! I wasn't about to order food from this place after that! read more

You go here specifically for their fried chicken and craft beer selection. The chicken is so perfect like down south perfect. It sells out by 2pm so make sure you swing by early. And I recommend eating it in your car. It's hot and juicy and smells so good. Don't wait to get home or your destination just eat it! It's also a good spot to stock up on craft beer. A perfect example of a local business that cares about their community. They support the local community by giving back to local schools, athletics, fire department and many more. One of two stores in town. A shout out to BG's market who do the same. We alternate spending our money and loyalty to each of these locations. They have a great deli. Sometimes there is a line and wait times can be longer then I would like but it is worth the wait. The staff is also kind and personable. Highly recommend stopping by and trying it out. read more

You don't need to read my review to know that the deli is great, so let me expand on some other areas where Mike's excels. I live in CT but have a vacation house in New Hampshire, so we make the trip quite frequently. I drove a truck for 20-years so I'm always looking for a place with good coffee and Mike's does coffee right. A lot of places don't make coffee later in the day or during the summer month's, but Mike's usually has at least a dozen flavors available, so I can always count on a great cup no matter what time of year. They've had some type of water problem for years, so men were required to use a portolet outside, but the staff always let me wash my hands in their sink. They've recently upgraded their portolet to one of the high-end trailer units that I've seen used at outdoor weddings. Now that's customer service!! read more

Had to go to Dartmouth Hitchcock for an afternoon appoint so I meandered round the back roads a bit and found myself on the Vermont side of the border. Getting hungry I saw the sign for Mikes Deli. Picked up a pulled pork sandwich and ate it on the run. Not as good as Goody Coles in Brentwood but far superior to Curtis in Putney.. I was pleased to see a good amount of bark. read more
