They charge $15 per hour for beach cruisers and hybrid bikes until your duration exceeds three hours. Then, your cost stays at $45 for the rest of the day until store closing. Before renting the bikes, one of us needed to provide an ID and card to place on file. Fortunately, they had parking just for customers. The staff also provided us a basket and lock without an extra charge. The bikes got us a little further than expected to Dockweiler Beach near LAX. The hybrid bikes allowed us to shift gears, which made cycling on slight inclines easier. The rental costs weren't too expensive, and we had a great time using the bikes to travel about 13.5 miles round-trip. When leaving the parking lot, we needed to stay vigilant of the cyclists passing us on N. Harbor Dr.'s dedicated bike lane.

Luckily they have a policy that allows you to bring back the bike as late as 9 PM and chain it to the gate outside even when the business has closed for a small fee ($15) The bikes were $20 each, we chose the upgraded model with gearshifting, there was also an option for $15 that had only one speed. Everything was great. The bike was perfect and did exactly what we wanted, we rode around until about 8:30 and had no issues bringing it back. Last week we dropped off my e-bike for a tune up service. I received my bike 3 days later as promised (2-3 days). The cost was a good value. After my e-bike was serviced it rode better than when it was brand new. The one thing I really don't like is having to leave my bike on the sidewalk. No one is officially tending to the bikes. They're just sitting there. They are a small operation and don't have the proper amount of space. My husband they did secure his e-bike to a parking meter when he dropped his off but he still felt uncomfortable about his bike on the sidewalk. What if someone crashes into it. We sign waivers that release them of responsibility blah blah blah. So we'd be happier if we had our bikes within the safe confines of their bike shop.

Never seen a business turn down a customer because the work is "harder". Most would simply charge accordingly. Aparantly this shop doesnt like to work and just want to sell you things. Wish I could give zero stars since I received zero customer service. By the way....this "hard" work....was installing a set of tires on a bike thats been worked on at several other shops that had no issues. They are simply lazy and only want easy work. We rented bikes from Daniel's and had a very poor experience from start to finish…read more The bikes were old, rusted, and poorly maintained. Multiple gears didn't work correctly, the brakes barely functioned, and one bike had flat tires that I had to inflate myself before we could even ride. The helmets provided were heavily worn, and the lock included with the rental was just a basic cable lock. The employee specifically warned us to lock the bikes carefully since we were going to the Santa Monica Pier. Unfortunately, the cable lock THEY provided was cut, and one of the bikes was stolen. After returning and showing them the cut lock, they charged us $225 for the stolen bike, plus still charged us the rental fee. I understand being responsible for stolen rental equipment, but charging $225 for a bike in the condition this one was in felt excessive and unreasonable. These were not high-end bikes -- they looked heavily used and poorly maintained. What made the situation worse was the attitude afterward. They even told us they were "being nice" by not charging us for the cut lock. Then, after we said we would not return, one employee offered us a gift card to come back, which honestly felt strange after charging us hundreds of dollars. Overall, the bikes were low quality, poorly maintained, and the handling of the situation left a bad impression. I would not recommend renting here.

I…read moreusually ride from SoFi Stadium to Venice Beach for cardio, and unfortunately, I got a flat near Washington Blvd. and Via Dolce. The tire was beyond repair, so I searched Google for a nearby bike shop and found West LA Bikes. I walked my bike to the shop, where I was greeted by the owner. He first tried to repair the tire, but after determining it couldn't be fixed, he recommended replacing it. I was pleasantly surprised that he had the exact tire I needed in stock. My bike uses tubeless tires that require sealant, and he had both the tire and sealant readily available. He sold me a new tire at a very reasonable price and had me back on the road in no time. The owner was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely helpful throughout the entire process. I really appreciated the excellent customer service, fair pricing, and quick turnaround. In fact, I was so impressed that I'm returning today to have him replace my rear tire. I'm confident I'll receive the same outstanding service I experienced during my first visit. I highly recommend West LA Bikes to anyone looking for honest, reliable, and professional bicycle service.
