The quality of care was top notch! I went in for a hysterectomy and had the best team! A private room with a heated toilet seat!! Emily and Ms. Doreen were so funny and such a delight! Dr. Laughlin tended to my concerns and fulfilled my requests. If I had another uterus I needed removed, I'd definitely go back to this team! This hospital is dangerous. My family member was discharged 2 days after major surgery. He was unable to walk, he was dangerously dehydrated. His sodium and potassium levels were low and his kidney function was low. His intestines had not started working after thr anesthesia. He was denied required rehab. A few days later he was admitted to the emergency room at a different hospital for another week to help him recover from this obvious negligence by Mobile Infirmary Hospital. MDs do their job perfectly by promoting healing and even seek information from family. MDs do their part in caring for your loved one. In the SICU- There are very few great nurses who actually are about true care and treatment and match an MDs energy. Only reason some RNs in SICU started treating my family member with better care is because another family member used to work in the hospital and knew people. Otherwise a family member may be met with superiority and intimidation tactics constantly used by "nurses who cared." Some of the rudest most incompetent "seasoned" SICU RNs were placed on my loved one's care team. For example, a nurse kept doing exactly what an MD told them NOT to do. More than thrice, even after the MD and family repeatedly corrected them. Their charge nurses stuck up for them. Then the Retaliatory RN friends and CNA friends would, too. Sometimes in the SICU there was just one CNA for a unit of 16+ patients. If an ED has at least 5 CNAs and 5+ RNs then why would a busy SICU be staffed like that? We all know that family members can not stay with their loved one in certain units and since Covid19 protocols, most floors don't allow overnight family assistance. A cycle of abuse to disability/death can continue. That is stressful on a family and detrimental to the care of their loved one. Brings down the reputation of an institution. The heads are only looking at the documentation and just chalking it up to upset families. The great RNs do their jobs beautifully. Some leave for better hospitals with like minded caretakers and facilities. The sorry caretakers sit at the nurses stations making jokes about sick patients where ANYONE can hear them, yet at the same time tell family members of the ill patients that "I am all about the care of my patients." Their words don't match their actions. We all understand that hospitals are about money and moving patients out of the money-maker beds in ICUs. We know that they hire people who come with their own biases. These hires are instructed from top echelons to "treat and move patients." The nursing culture at MIMC can use a bit of an overhaul to help gain itself a better reputation. This hospital could make sure they hire a more diverse staff of RNs and CNAs across all units. Hire a staff who actually pays attention to their patients instead of letting them sit naked and soiled for hours at a time. When the support personnel like respiratory, ekg, lab, nutrition, housekeeping, maintenance, and others tell family members that they were "watching over" your loved one because they don't care for the ways of certain care teams Because they've seen how they treat patients, something is WRONG! One reason any one job is difficult or stressful is because there's no community and it's just filled with negativity. People who don't like their job may need a vacation from that job to find their truer purpose. The culture of an organization can be changed and fixed for the better from the top. Fix it! read more

LTAC (Long Term Acute Care) the 4th floor. I honestly wonder how many of the actual employees of the4th floor would want their loved on to receive treatment or medical care here. We actually had a two hour meeting with the LTAC Administration, and they assured us that all of our concerns would be addressed and taken care of. The same afternoon, no one was available to feed or assist our Mother. I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried. An investigation into the entire operation needs to be conducted from the Executive Administrator to the last hired CNA. Yes I recommend a family member being very visible because it's a eight hour shift to the staff not a member of their family there concerned about. I don't have to lie. Everyone can't be experiencing the same treatment but they are. It's starts and stops with the people in charge of running this facility. It's how the establishment allows business to be conducted. Be very vigilant! 5 on your side needs to do and undercover investigation or people with Facebook Live. Yes this is personal because I have a love one I'm concerned about that's inside this hospital. But I am also a professional and I treat people how I would like to be treated. I don't care about your title or how much money you make, I care about how you treat people bottom line. read more

My mother recently had a procedure at this hospital. The nurses were very rude to the family and my mother. They put her on a bed with a gummy stain on the sheet. They handed her a bunch of paperwork to sign regarding blood transfusions , and the procedure without explaining any of the paperwork. There was a betadine stain on the curtain. The nurse rudely told me to go to the waiting room. Overall, not impressed. read more

My mother came to Mobile Infirmary for a Total Hip replacement which went great. The surgeon, preop, postop and Atrium staff were awesome in every way. Ortho floor staff and PT were very friendly and attentive. Patient dining is a whole different experience! Food to the patient room was terrible and despite asking you what you wanted you never received what you ordered. We requested liquid diet and received beef tips and noodles. We requested sweet tea and received unsweet tea and no sugar or substitute. For breakfast the second morning they didn't bring breakfast at all. When we called them at 9:35 they said the system was down. They didn't physically check to see who they missed they just didn't bring breakfast to all the rooms that didn't print off. Their fix was to offer an early lunch, Baked Chicken for late breakfast. Pitiful customer care! read more

Well, my wife is here having so me tests done. They've haven't killed her, and as far as I can tell she still has all her parts. So I guess everything is going pretty good. This place has been here a long time. I was born here in 1968, and I remember then it was a pretty cool hospital. Of course back then the nurses were very sweet and of course..... Really!? No I don't remember all that!!! Any way, the wife is fine, thank you for asking. Still mean as a snake, but fine. And the hospital is still here, making people weller all the time. read more

Horrible food prepared and managed by Morrison Health care!! Healthy?? Hell no!! I've been here seven days and have had the same baked chicken six times! Must have Mexicans cooking because all their roasted meats are covered by cumin and chili powder! Nasty!! Veggies all cooked to death and heavily salted. Not a single decent dessert! Same old dried out tired brownie with plastic whipped cream dried on top!! The sad thing is I'm on a "regular" diet!! Just think of the poor tortured victims that are being served special diet food!!! Omg!! Go to USA!! That hospital has fabulous food. The Nephrologists at Mobile are fabulous...the nursing staff on 3 east was wonderful with the exception of the case manager. She was nice but completely uninformed and clueless. Brought completely inaccurate info to my room then when confronted with the truth defended her ignorance as "not my job" to have true facts. When I suggested she set up and verify rather than taking lies to patients she got crazy and still defended the lies as not her responsibility. I was going through mental breakdown and was having not so good thoughts. I decided that I wanted to stop feeling that way and I wanted help. Somehow I got sent to their E.R? Because I admitted that I had ONE thought of dying. They call my name and straight to the psych ward I go. I didn't know that I was there at that time I just thought "wow everyone here (the patients) are interesting." 3-4 nurses and doctors ask me what's going on I tell them and repeat to them the same thing. This doctor/psychiatrist sits down and makes me feel stupid and judged by the questions he's asking me. I did not feel cared for in fact I felt like I was a bother to him and he just wanted to go through this process quickly. He automatically said that I need to stay the night for evaluation. I was shocked because I thought that they were going to diagnose me with depression (later they did) and just send me to a therapist or maybe medicine. Instead they put me in the hospital clothes and made me feel as if I was actually psychotic. Yeah, I am sad and I had one ugly thought but that didn't mean for me to get treated like I was a big ass threat to everyone in the hospital. So the bill comes today, check this shit out. 1,700$ I'm not sure why. Because I never got placed into a room, I stayed my full 6 hours in a green ugly dirty chair in the hallway. They didn't give me food nor water. This one old ass white lady was all in my face saying I'm not allowed to have anything on me expect for the hospital clothes and the socks. They only made me urinate in a cup and took some blood out. That was it and only it. Almost 2,000$ for me to feel belittled and to stay in a musty chair for 6 hours in the hallway? STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. THIS IS A SCAM!!! MOST of the staff is rude and everyone in Mobile county knows that this place is the dirtiest hospital! Dirtier than a public park restroom... I wish I was kidding. I wish I could give this fuck ass place 0 stars but that will do. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you want to save your money for somewhere else or actually love the person who is going there just turn around and go somewhere way cleaner and makes you feel cared for! read more

So far the nurses in the ICU have not suctioned the intubated patient. They are hostile to the visitors. The doctors are wonderful. This is the first time Ive seen a hospital with cold, uncaring nurses and supervisors. I only like the doctors and the housekeepers. read more

My 85 year old mother was transported to this hospital by fire rescue amd I wish I coild it less stars than 1. First my mother was in the ER for about 4 hours nefore they let us know if we could back and see her. Then a nurse threw a vial of blood away that was needed for a test then they had to stick her all again. I passed a black tech named Christopher in the hallway and said good morning to him and he didnt have the common decency to acknowledge me, then he sees some other black people and is all talkative to them. I figured oh well he just dont like white people. Then my mom needed to be switched from one bed to another and Christopher came to help. When he moved my mom he snatched the sheet with all of his might causing my mother to cry in pain. I overheard him saying before he went into the room that he didn't have time for this. He is obviously a racist and needs to be fired from working in a hospital. read more

If I could give this no stars, I most certainly would. I was there last night, I went in because I've been having constant gallbladder attacks for a week. I was in excruciating pain. I told the nurse at triage that my pain level was an 8/10 and sat in the waiting room. I was called back for blood work after about 30 minutes and then told to return to the waiting room where I sat for 6 hours!!! I watched all of the people who came in after me get called back. After about 4 hours, my boyfriend and I went and asked if they had an estimated wait time, they said no. I was waiting there so long that they had to check my vitals 3 times! When I was finally brought back, they brought me to a bench in the hallway and left me there for 45 minutes. The nurse came over and asked me to do a urine test, which I had already done when I first got there. She said there was no record of it but it was "fine". Another hour or so later, the nurse practitioner finally came over and talked to me about my pain and then said she'd see what she could do. She then said there was someone coming to take me to ultra sound to get a test. I waited another 45 minutes to be brought up. The guy who brought me up left me alone in the ultra sound room in the dark for 35 minutes. A nurse ACCIDENTALLY walked in to the room and found me sitting there in the dark.. She was shocked and said I scared her and she had no idea I was in there. She went in the back to find out what was going on, again leaving me in the dark room alone!! At least 15 minutes later, she came back in and told me she couldn't find my paperwork and that it had gotten lost. She finally found it and did my ultra sound. After all of this, my anxiety was off the walls and I left after never even seeing a doctor more than 8 hours later. I couldn't even find my nurse to tell her I was leaving and when we asked, they said that she would be right out. I waited 20 minutes until I just walked out and told triage. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone. Don't go here!!! read more
