Here's the game elsewhere as far as I can see it. You call these other locksmiths, most go to a call center who quote a 'starting' price. You have to be quick to catch it's 'starting'. Of course it's never the starting price...blah blah. Or the call center says that'll be $119, then tech calls and says sure, I'll do it for $150. This is a strong 5 for me. First, fast response via phone and text. Once he quickly arrived, this was a relatively complicated issue with programming OEM & Aftermarket key fobs on a newer car. It took a lot of work for Chad to get the aftermarket (OEM was quick) equipment to work, but he got everything to function and cut some new keys as well. On top of an already bad day, I locked myself out of my house. I was JUST talking to a friend and told them that I have been meaning to leave a spare key with someone. We called around to find that many local companies outsource to weird call centers or were closed at 7:30 pm. And getting ahold of the actual locksmith that would help you took a long time. Not BMW. The programing processes disabled the car and put it in lockdown. In the end, had to take it to the dealer to have the car and fob reprogrammed $2,000. Cheaper to buy the key directly from the dealer and save on the towing and reprogram of the car. Chad seems a good man and seem to try and research the process beforehand but, in the end, he was not able to solve the riddle of BMW. Gave him three stars for effort even though he declared the deposit as non-refundable after the fact. read more
