Even more disappointed with MOCSE due to how their credit card/debit card system is managed. Today I went on line to purchase two VIP tickets to an upcoming concert. The MOCSE system stopped my transaction and I lost these choice seats while dealing with their verification system. If their programmers were so smart, why didn't they detect that these are about the 11th and 12th such buys we have made in the past 12 months? I ended up booking two less desirable seats due to MOCSE's low bandwidth system. But wait, there's more...Shortly after jumping through all of their hoops and calling and speaking to a staff member, i tried to purchase three tickets to a place we are visiting in Scotland in July ($84), and the system wouldn't allow it. Even their staffer helping, me clearing cache, restarting the computer, you name it nothing worked. The vendor's system indicated it was a bank not approving the sale (yes I have no balance and an good credit rating). Neither the CC or the DC would work for either the MOCSE employee or I. To be extra fair, she tried to help as best she could but to no avail. She asked me to call another person, who so far has not returned my call. (I have already spent almost an hour on the phone dealing with this.) But wait, there's more. A few years ago, their system MISSED a fraudulent charge I caught and had to bring to their attention. Hampering my transactions has caused me inconvenience several times before, this is the worst so far. It is time to reduce my banking institutions to my other two. Not worth the frustration, I only opened the account to be supportive of the CU and it was close to where we live. Simply not enough bandwidth for prime time, I recommend a NO on them. read more

I've been dealing with standard big name 'banks' for my entire adult life. On occasion I've had 'credit union' accounts. The differences are the reason I have gotten a new Credit Union account recently. Mocse has pleasant and knowledgeable people who seem to honestly care about their customers. At the BIG BOYS one gets fake smiles, as well as less perks like loans that are easier to get, credit cards with better interest rates for folks trying to re-establish their credit/FICO scores, and more selection options for people needing HELOC loans, etc. Mocse is our 'neighborhood' Credit Union and as such we keep our money local and invest in our own community. Perhaps I am generous by providing a star. That star is for one representative, that finally helped. I don't blame the help I blame the credit union . I think the went with Master CarD instead than VISA. A mistake I was happy with VISA, they were on the spot on issue, I didn't have to wait half hr listening to the phone ring and not even get to an answer machine. The web site does not provide any help. So when there is a problem I have to to the beach each time. Mocze and visa should pay for my gas to get there and back! I am fast losing confidence on Mocze. I started at this back in the 80's because of my parents, it's always been there, as I got older I would larger money transfers through this bank due to the trust I've built over the many years. The last few years I've have lost almost all the faith in this back, from the fact that if I decide to keep an account for my minor daughter and add a few thousand a year to be told if I don't make it monthly they will take money from that account to keep it active, to the fact that every time I call I'm on hold for 20-45 minutes before I get a rep, if I'm lucky, your are shoeing my away. I recently moved my banking to Mocse. I wanted a local branch with good customer service rather than a big chain. I was trying to leave citi after many years there. Unfortunately Mocse proved to have customer service that wasn't much better than citi. The account proved to be mostly unusable for our family. I went to a credit union knowing that the technology would be an a lower level. Mocse has tech that isn't on par with other credit unions. There bill pay and transfer is provided by a third party company. Mocse doesn't know if the frequency or transfer amount will increase based on frequency (because it is not their product). Mocse also can't link external accounts in order to view balances and pay things easily from an online application. Mocse does have some sort of application for a credit card.... only a Mocse card though... so probably not useful to most consumers that use a card for travel or cash back. (Why else would you?) I was surprised and disappointed because it is a large hassle to move direct deposit and all the automatic bill payment information over. I am writing this review as I was waiting for a branch manager to return my call. I think many things can be overlooked in exchange for great local customer service. With neither.... Went to MOCSE today. It's been a while. Wow. This is not the MOCSE I remember. What happened? The line was out the door and two tellers. Stood in line for 20 minutes with my Mom. She said it has been like this for some time. She had an issue with her new Mastercard. Sounded to me that they were making HER do all the leg work because THEY switched from Visa. I was with this bank for 16 years. In the last several year and especially in the last year they turned into worst and most incompetent bank I've ever dealt with. They literally cost me hundreds of dollars because of their mistakes and only offered 100$ in compensation. I could write pages about all the crap they pulled on my in the last few months I was there. Since I left their bank I've had zero issues with my direct deposited being deposited on the scheduled date, instad of a random date after the date it was supposed to be deposited. read more

MOCSE decided to completely shut down their online system without emails or customer notification. When it was supposed to be available again, your account is wiped out and you cannot get a hold of ANYONE to fix the problem. So tired of MOCSE. If you use your bank card and account for a wide range of things, including auto-pay, point-of-purchase payments, and still write checks, it's really hard to keep up with your balance. Well, your "free checking" at MOCSE may be the most expensive thing you use. Several times, even after checking on my posted balances, MOCSE charged me "overdraft fees" of $30 each time. Over the past ten years or so, MOCSE has pocketed about $1500 of the fees they refused to take back. Here's the thing, there are banks that simply do not let transactions go through and have either free or reasonably priced checking. Chime works great! Wells Fargo will not let a transaction go through unless the funds are there. Both Chime and Wells Fargo do not charge overdraft fees for auto-pay and point-of-sale transactions, instead the transaction simply does not go through. But, over the years, it has become clear that this is the cost of "free" at MOCSE. They just, now, charged me two, back-to-back overdraft fees for transactions they DID NOT EVEN honor. It was auto-pay to my PayPal account. Ca-Ching! No money out of MOCSE's pocket, just an auto-bot carrying out company orders. Oh, so that's how MOCSE makes money. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: Now, it gets even better. Even though I had plenty of credit available on my MOCSE VISA credit card, which has, for over twenty years, been our "overdraft protection," it no longer works as such. Yes, apparently a perfunctory notice, which I probably just shredded and/or deleted, was sent out about one year ago notifying members, such as myself, that only a MOCSE line of credit can, as of January 1, 2020, be used for overdraft protection. Welp, I guess I was living in a fool's paradise and I had no overdraft protection for this past year. But we were already phasing out our MOCSE account and would not even have considered getting a new line of credit, anyway, after all the other grief we'd experienced at MOCSE. So, voila, an auto-pay came through and, even though MOCSE DID NOT PAY ANYTHING, per the fine print, they were within their right to charge me for two transactions that cost them NOTHING. It's supposed to be just punishment, I guess. I'm not into receiving or giving punishment (except for giving reviews like this ;)), so, as I state, below, I'm done with MOCSE. To their credit, after speaking with the very nice MOCSE representative, who, "as a courtesy," reversed the two recent non-sufficient funds charges. I have probably had other charges throughout the year that I might beg for forgiveness, but, honestly, it's too little, too late. And I am tired of being forced to catch these charges and come abegging, if I do not want MOCSE to suck money out of my account. As I state elsewhere, there's too many banking alternatives that do not milk you for money in such sneaky ways. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This sucker is done with MOCSE and my wife's uncle, George Dale Keirn, was one of the founders. I even wrote a letter explaining our loyalty to MOCSE over the years, but was denied a reversal of the $1500 in predatory charges. If you are wanting to be in the 21st century for your banking needs, this is not the place to bank. They operate during business hours even for their customer service line. Very frustrating when you want answers to questions during the weekend or evenings. I thought I would like a small bank but as they keep telling me, this is a credit union and different from banks. Yes, I completely agree. Chase/BofA/Bank of the West/etc. would've notified me immediately if there was an overdraft whereas I find out the hard way with Mocse. read more

MOCSE consistently provides better service and lower rates to our family. They are not-for-profit, so you know you won't be "sold" anything. We get better rates than commercial lenders, and while commercial bailout banks continue to rip people off, it's nice to know my bank is only invested in our community! read more

I find MOCSE online banking very frustrating to use. I accidentally entered the wrong password or answered the wrong security question and somehow got locked out of my account. I asked the bank to unlock my account but four days later I am still locked out. Why didn't my online account automatically reset after 24 hours? read more

I've been a member of Mocse since I was five or six, so its been a very very long time. I rarely have a issue come up and if I do they are always there to fix it. I recently had to file a case of fraud and dispute the charges. It was so much easier and hassle free than I could have imagined. My daughter has a children's saving account with them as well and loved starting it and creating all her savings goals.. I'm going to give a fair review like I always do. There are some nice people who work there. Gina was really helpful, the others I spoke to on the phone, rude!!. Their are pro's and Cons of having a small credit union. I will list the Cons. The hours of operation, closed on weekends. If you have a question you better call before 5 pm. If you go out of town and want to take out more money then allowed at a ATM, Sorry Charlie. The reason why I am writing this review is because of the way they handle ACH payments. A payment that is taken out on the same day as a deposit will result in a overdraft fee if there is no money in the account even if the deposit is the same day. For an example. Say you have direct deposit and you know the money will be in the account. If you have a transaction or multiple transactions before your direct deposit is in there, you will receive a overdraft charge, or multiple overdraft charges. Other banks like BOFA, or Wells Fargo I'm sure even chase does not do business like this. I usually only write yelp reviews when I receive great service or terrible service. The customer service lady that I spoke to the first time was so rude and not helpful is the reason why I am writing this review. If you are looking for a great refinanced car loan they have great rates but banking, I would stay away. read more
