If 0 stars was possible it'd be here. Mocse is easily the worst CU I've ever had the displeasure of doing business with. I attempted to set up auto pay over a dozen times. Each time the site says it's good to go, but it never works. I have tried on my own and had associates of this company do it with me on the phone and it still never worked, causing every single payment of mine to be late and charge me more money. Even trying to pay via my card online is impossible, forcing me to call and pay via phone just to get charged for paying via phone. Never do business with this company. read more

I've been using this bank for 10+ years. And dealt with a scam on my account a few months ago. When I went in person to address this and also cash a check (since not wanting to put anything into my account due to it being overdrafted by almost $1000) I was Told not asked by "Tiffany" the branch manager at the time extremely rudely and without any thought or interest in trying to help me through my time of being scammed through THEIR system. I needed to deposit the check because that's the money I owed them. I deposited the check and paid off the scammed amount of money. Looking back I absolutely cannot stand how she pressured me into doing that and I have not used my account with them since. I do not recommend this bank because the branch manager basically did a shake down on me and I hope all of her colleagues see this. -No I have not received that amount back to my account -I was treated like I was the scammer not the victim -I feel bad for anyone working under Tiffany. read more

Sharnell ( not sure of the spelling )"the bank Manager" was rude. I've been banking here for 30 years and never treated rude until today. She did make an exception for me cashing a check with my maiden name on it, which I brought all the proper documents with me, which I appreciate however, no thank you, instead had to say just know if the check comes back the funds will come out of your account. I got a auto loan here for my first nice car. Unfortunately I was rear ended and my car was totaled. Fortunately though, this location has been very helpful. They answer my questions with ease. I started with MOCSE when I started working for a place that recommended them back in May of 2005. I only stayed a year then switched to Valley First being I felt the staff and speaking Spanish and giggling to one another everytime I went in. I felt uncomfortable being a white woman in this bank. I am only with them due to an auto loan. The customer service is horrible. I went in yesterday to request temporary checks was told I had to pay $8 for 12 check which I only needed one. The clerk clearly was looking at my account so he should have known I had a savings not a checking but he did not He charged me the $8 then asked me to wait for a representative. I sat there for 5 minutes listening to the rep on a personal call. She finally ended her call and approached me stating I was not eligible for checks since i only had a savings. Being frustrated that the original clerk did not share this and took my money I walked out of the bank but the realized I should get my money back. I was told I wasnt charged. I explained I had two $5 dollar bills and now I have two $1 bills. Instead interjecting and saying yes you were charged but it was put in your account. I just kept being told I wasnt charged. Honestly, I felt that day and almost 20 years ago because I am a white woman the Hispanic staff assisting me treated me horribly. Am doing everything to get out of my loan... So I do not ever have to feel this way again. read more

Bank clerk Jeanette did not disclose an incoming wire transfer fee before my initial funding of the MOCSE account. She had me sign the terms disclosure form before giving me a copy or explaining the terms and conditions of the account. She stated the digital signature was for the file, but did not mentuon it was for the terms of agreement of the account. She handed me a paper packet after I signed digitally for the terms of agreement. Unfortunately, the clerk was condescending in her responses when asked questions. As a new member I wanted to inquire about certain benefits for MOCSE members. She referred me to the mobile site for further questions. Guess I picked the wrong credit union. Ironically there is better customer service from Citi and Bank of America and they are national institutions versus a local like MOCSE. Not the customer service I expected from MOCSE. read more

My last two encounters with MOCSE have been terrible. I was on hold last Friday for over an hour while trying to get an account verification. Today, I waited in line 20 minutes just to get on the list to wait another 35 minutes to change a payment account. There used to be an information desk for that. To top it off, they called two people who were in back of me to go first. They also have closed their walk up window for after 5 pm transactions. That used to be a nice benefit. So sad. read more

I came in with an inquiry I wasn't quite sure about going 100% on, but after waiting just a few short minutes, Marissa kindly greeted me and we got right down to what I was there for. She was extremely kind, understanding and knowledgeable of all the questions, comments or concerns I had. She explained everything to me in a way that was clear, and easy to understand, and even went over some topics once more to ensure we were on the same page. They did not opt me out of selling my data even though I specified when signing up. After receiving mail from third parties and calling, I was informed it did not happen as I had requested, and they need to MAIL opt out form as there was no way to opt out via phone, web, or email. After 2 weeks with no form mailed, had to call again. On hold for 27 minutes before anyone picked up!! Horrible service with no interest bearing savings accounts either. Awful choice for banking. This is a small, hometown, not so sophisticated Credit Union. Surely, they do some things well but I personally cannot speak to any of those good things. I can speak to their 1) uninformed representatives 2) stale and outdated stipulation guidelines. In my case, a loan stipulation was completely undisclosed until AFTER I purchased a vehicle, took delivery and made a down payment to a dealer. Now I must return the vehicle and start over because of a nuance regarding dealers located outside of MOCSE's sphere of influence. My credit is excellent for perspective. I would not recommend procuring an auto loan through this Credit Union. After all the MOCSE nonsense -- the selling dealership apologized and found a lower interest rate by nearly 2%! through Valley First Credit Union. To anyone living in Tuolumne County -- heed my advice and direct your credit application to a larger Credit Union with multiple locations -- Valley First Credit Union. read more

My account went dormant (no activity for six months) during Covid season in 2020. They initiated an "inactive account" fee and took all my money, and also emptied my daughter's account. By the time I opened the monthly statement, I was broke. read more

I was with this bank for 16 years. In the last several year and especially in the last year they turned into worst and most incompetent bank I've ever dealt with. They literally cost me hundreds of dollars because of their mistakes and only offered 100$ in compensation. I could write pages about all the crap they pulled on my in the last few months I was there. I just went inside to pull out money from my account. I asked the bank teller if she can take out $350 from my savings account. She said "if it's in there." Completely unprofessional and unnecessary. She goes back and she's running my card somewhere in the back and all she said was "it says declined. Why don't you go use the ATM" and I explained to her that I wanted a specific amount that the ATM won't give me and I did have money in my account. she said "I'll give you change" I go back outside to use the ATM and of course it's out of service. Tried to deposit a $40,000 check from a mortgage company and they wouldn't take it. Bank of America had no problem. They are always behind on technology by years. Getting tired of having my credit and debit cards frozen due to "suspicious activity " without any notice. Couldn't make an online purchase early this morning and later received an automated message informing me that the card had been frozen. Turns out they found that very transaction to be the suspicious one even though I've purchased from them before. I wish I could say it was the first time this has occurred. I always have trouble reaching them through phone. I moved to the Fresno area and wanted to continue working with them, but anytime I call either between 9am and 10am or noon or even after 3PM it is always a hit or miss. I find myself waiting on the phone for half an hour plus, and then its time to go back to work. There has a better way to get a response for a quick question. read more

Just came in to pay my car payment, the usual every month, since the app is not good! Just had a really bad experience with a VERY rude teller. One of the only guys I've seen as a teller at this location. He was condescending and uncaring in every way. Such a simple transaction, I can't imagine having to deal with this person any longer than the couple of minutes he had to spare me! So disappointing. I hope he's not there when I come in next time, I won't be going to him ever again. I just want to say how friendly and helpful the staff is at Mocse. I went to another credit union first and I was not happy with the rate or their service. I called Mocse and was encouraged to apply online. The online application was so fast and I was contacted the same day. I called back and Cathy Melgoza was so helpful and patient in taking other information they needed over the phone. I went to open my account and finish the loan the next day. Tellers are friendly but everyone else that has a higher position have snotty attitudes and can care less for your business. They make everything so difficult and give you the "you can go else where attitude". Closed my account and will let everyone know not to open an account there. They have done a few nice things in the past when Ive called the customer support number, which I'm very thankful and as a loyal customer it's something every bank does for you with no hesitation. Laura is a manager, her not so genuine smile/smirk while she is "helping" you, is so offensive! She doesn't care about keeping your business and the way she responds to concerns/issues is definitely not how someone should respond with this position. I came here on 6-10-19 with a check to pay off a loan and the team that helped me was more than awesome. The guy at the information desk was super nice and helped with a few changes that were needing to be made. Everyone was friendly and kept asking if I had been helped. If you live local, don't want to deal with the BS that places like B of A and Wells Fargo give you, then join MOCSE. I have never had a bad experience or rude attitude from any worker here. I can't say the same for other banks I have dealt with. My only complaint, when I am out of town accessing my money isn't possible if I need larger sums of cash. For those times I do utilize B of A. I recently transferred my direct deposit to this bank from a different credit union. I have had the same job and same payroll specialist for years. MOCSE picks when I get paid. It may be the day before, day of, or day after. The credit union that I am a member of in Tracy always deposited my check the day before payday. That is the advantage of direct deposit. Not with MOCSE. They choose. So now I have to find another bank in Modesto. I do not like the inconsistency. Customer service does not care. They told me they are the only bank obeying the law apparently. Geez read more

Mocse has been my favorite way to bank so far. they don't charge ridiculous fees for having a checking account and because they are local they are always english speaking wonderful people who i can even go see personally if i wanted to. the only downside is that because they are a very small company they do NOT have 24 hour phone service. but i still love them! i have always had all problems resolved quickly with them and i have never hung up the phone mad like with other companies. read more

Bunch of crooks. Tacked on an insurance policy to both of my loans. There was a miscommunication with my insurance company and Mocse will not even work with me to fix the problem. They added a 172.00 insurance fee for a 3 day gap in coverage. Also a 1200.00 insurance cost for my boat loan. Mocse said they don't make any money on this. Which is a LIE! the amount they tack on goes to the loan and they are making interest on it. Not to mention an overpriced insurance cost. I will be refinancing my loans thru another place and closing my accounts with them. My advice to everyone is to stay away from these guys. They are a joke of a bank. read more

I have been a customer of Mocse since they bought out Carnation Credit Union in the 1990s. I have since moved out of Modesto and onto the Bay Area, but I continue to do business with Mocse. Their no cost personal checking/saving, their real person phone teller, their business by mail/person, and most of all their outstanding customer service! Sure the tellers are great, but I'm talking about when issues occur that required correction. Mocse has not once failed me in resolving issues. Great job guys! I recommend this institution to anyone who is tired of bank fees, over draft protection fees (an oxymoron) and stand in line phone calls. read more

set up individual account and they would not allow me to add my wife unless she appeared in person...she works in San Francisco so not easy but we made the arrangements and appeared...she is a permanent resident here almost 10 years...gave them her drivers license, green card w/photo, passport w/photo of course, and her social security card. they refused to add her to my accounts without her also presenting a work visa...WTF! with a permanent resident card and social security card a work visa is something she would not have, they clearly didn't understand the documents we provided!!! read more

I've banked with MOCSE for almost 20 years. In that time, I have held savings accounts, money market accounts, about 5 auto loans, and most recently, a HELOC. I have always been treated respectfully. Over the years, I have seen some of the employees come and go, but have developed professional relationships with several of them. I need to be able to trust and rely on my banker and MOCSE has always exceeded by expectations. A previous reviewer cited hours of operation as being an issue. Sure, they aren't open on weekends, but I know that, and prepare for that ahead of time. Keep doing what you're doing, MOCSE! read more
