I've been to plenty of MOD pizza locations before, this being by far the best location. It's a pretty big restaurant, plenty of seating area for guests. I walked in and I was the only one there, so I didn't wait long for my pizza, probably about 10 minutes, which is not bad! The employee was really nice, the only thing is I wish my toppings were a bit more evenly scattered on my pepperoni/jalapeño pizza. The flavor was delicious, nice thin pizza, plenty of cheese (when the pizza is warm, cheese is nice and stringy) and great marinara sauce, not too saucy. Literally the subway of pizzas! The black olive/mushroom pizza was great, nice small size available among other sizes. They have a variety of toppings (no pineapple) for your pizza and different sauces to choose fun. Pizza was very well made I loved it only thing is I didn't really care for the salads very much I think they were a little wilted but other than that the pizza was amazing I loved and I will come back for sure for more. I would recommend this location and also do try the all Meat pizza that is probably the best one. I did try most of them and I didn't enjoy. I didn't care very much for the vegetarian dishes because they lack flavor. Depends on your preference. So I wouldn't recommend the salad so much sorry to say I will try this again at a later date. I love MOD Pizza. It's one of my favorite pizza places because the pizzas can be modified to however you want it - toppings, type of crust, etc., and it always comes out so delicious, hot, and fresh. One thing I didn't like about this location is, when it gets busy, it's kind of chaotic. I had made a GrubHub pick-up order. I stood in the pick-up area trying to make eye contact with anyone. No one greeted me to ask what I was picking up. I had to wave someone down, and my pizza had been ready the whole time I was waiting. We regularly pick this pizza place over other, "fancier" and more expensive pizza places in the area. HOWEVER, the service is wildly inconsistent. Like we're talking about many times where employees turn off the online ordering at 6 pm and are all just sitting around, or they literally turn most of the lights off but leave the doors unlocked because it's still their job. It's really strange and the negative reviews here reflect all the weirdness that happens at this location. When there are no adults working and you leave it up to the teens to run the place, it really disappoints. Went there tonight and they had not replenished most ingredients leading to long time to make a simple salad. Plate for my pizza? Nope because they had "run out"! Well not really as you could see all the plates piled up in the dirty plates bins by the garbage cans. Which, btw, we're overflowing. The crew was too busy flirting with one another or making new pizza boxes to be bothered to wash dishes or take out the trash. Pizza is good for a quick in-and-out type of pizza place. I've always received good service. Of course it's nice to build your own and in 10 minutes you have a fresh pizza. My only gripe is that they tend to be a little skimpy on toppings. I usually ask for more but sometimes I feel bad for asking - "hey, can you please add more cheese?!" Like...have you never seen a pizza before? It needs ALL THE CHEESE and toppings. :) This location has always been clean and I've never seen it busy. We hadn't been to MOD Pizza in a very long time. I'm sad to see how downhill the service has gotten. I stood waiting to order for several minutes before one of the two workers at the pizza making station looked up at me. It took so long for them to acknowledge me that I walked to the cashier confused, thinking maybe I was in the wrong place. The salad and pizzas were ok, although my Greek salad was mainly just iceberg lettuce. When I paid for my food, the young man entered my order and then just walked away. He didn't even stay for the whole transaction. It was not busy when I was there either. While we were there a patron became I'll and appeared to need medical attention. While I was helping the patron and her friend, a worker came over and told the patron's friend that they either needed to leave or get help. Her tone was not friendly or empathetic. It was very uncomfortable the way the patrons were treated. I couldn't believe that this worker didn't offer any assistance. Seems the staff there are lacking training and decency. I ordered with a 45 min lead time, so they had plenty of time. I show up and stand and wait 5 min with no one interested in assisting with online orders. I finally ask about my pizza and they said they have not even started it. They offer to refund my money which is silly. I've waited 53 min at this point and have my family waiting at home for dinner and just acting like not getting the dinner and starting over somewhere else and waiting an hour would be a good alternative. They should have just made the order in the first place. This has to be managements fault. Train your people, manage your orders and.... 45 min instead of the standard 20 min should NOT have been an issue. It got worse. Waited 15 because they said they would make it 'right now.' Went back to the counter to check status and they did not where it was. They lost it and had to start over again. Way to waste / ruin my evening. We waited in line a good half an hour. They took their sweet time and employee was texting instead of working. Didn't have table large enough for our party so we put some tables together. We're told by the texting employee to move the tables back when we are done and then he pointed (with his cell phone) at a table with 8 seats (we had 11) and he said "that's what that table is for!" I've been to the OG, original, numero uno in Seattle's Union Square and MOD seems to keep each locale pretty consistent as far as décor, vibe, food quality, customer service, and of course the tunes since 2008. Well, maybe the tunes have changed a bit. The newly opened MOD in Lakeway is on point. Pie blasted in an ~800 degree oven for 5 minutes or less = done! Fast and fresh - just how I like it! If you've never been to a MOD, the novelty is you can pick one of their creations or create your own (walk down the line and pick and choose from visible edibles) - all for the same price no matter how many toppings! The standard MOD is 11" ($7.87) or you can choose a Mini (6"; $4.87). Quite the bargain to boot! I've never hesitated to dig into a Tristan, a Caspian, and even a Mad Dog, but My MOD is The Dawn: white sauce, mozz & parm cheese, loads of spinach and arugula, roasted garlic, double mush for protein (cuz I'm healthy like that), and a drizzle of balsamic fig glaze (it's just so pretty). Gives a whole new meaning to "artisan" pizza. :) TIPS: *They have ATX local craft beers on draft (as well as a few other; e.g., Dos Equis). *No, they do not deliver. Located in a large shopping area with many other restaurants in Lakeway, TX. Atmosphere: Very clean open space with a modern stainless steel theme. Attractive place to eat. 1 Star Food: For a single price you get to pick your size of pizza, type of crust, choice of sauce, and then all the toppings you desire. Everything looks very fresh and colorful. Many non-mainstream choices for toppings as well. The fix it all up just the way you like, just as if you were walking down the Chipotle's line but instead of burritos you are getting pizza. The pizza is finished within just a few minutes. I would estimate 3-5, tops. The crust has a nice crunchy base and all the toppings were fresh tasting. 2 Stars Service: Wow! For a "fast food" pizza joint the staff here was fantastic. The first person we talked to, he takes your order and then grabs the crust of choice and ladles on your sauce, went out of his way to explain the whole process in an easy to understand manner. The 2nd person, who places all of the toppings you choose on top of the pizza, was also very delightful. She was making suggestions and keeping the banter lively. With a nice "Thank You," from her, we moved on to the final person in our well oiled machine. The man running the register was quick to recite our orders and give us a thumbs up before giving us our total. All in all, this was a great place. Unbelievably rude employee. The guy in the photo below was frustrated because someone had walked up to the counter and taken my pizza (they wrote my name and pronounced it wrong), which was not a big deal to me, BUT he thought I should get the pizza off the other guy's table, and eat it. Wow, that's gross. He then made 2 or 3 rude comments, including raising his voice about where the high chairs are located while I held my 1-yr. old, while I patiently waited for my 2nd pizza. Seeing his frustration, I asked him if he was having a bad day. He proceeded to tell me to "step back and just wait for your pizza, you're being rude". I had my 2 daughters with me. Like Subway, but for Pizzas. That's the easiest way to describe Mod. It's quite good, too. I was surprised by the variety of toppings available. Good quality too. The small pizza for under $5 is great for kids. I got the larger $11 which was a good deal considering it comes with unlimited toppings and I got half leftover for lunch the next day. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and comfortable. Friendly service. fast enough to qualify as fast food. Delicious cinnamon pizzas for dessert. The pizzas are somewhat thin but not as crispy as you would expect from a NY style pizzeria, it's softer. I don't think this is in the top pizzas in Austin flavor-wise by any means, but still good pizza, good location, and a lot of fun creating your own pizza with new ingredients in each visit.
