I started my sessions here after experiencing nerve pain and chose a smaller plan because I travel for work. The sign up is fairly easy and straightforward, so it seemed. While signing up, before actually signing the contract, I noticed it mentions you need to notify 30 days in advance to cancel, and asked if there was any paperwork I needed to fill out to get that going. I was assured that after my month was up I would be okay and that everything was notated on my personal account. I was very vigilant in detailing my exact situation and what my needs were. Again I was assured she both understood my request and that everything was notified. After my sessions I was charged again for another month even after all of this. So I call to get it sorted and I feel the modern acupuncture isn't taking it seriously and is choosing to be both unfair and unethical by not keeping their word and then refusing to talk about. I wouldn't recommend this location purely because of this. Seek another company that won't steal your money. read more

I sprained my ankle during the snow storm. The Dr said it would take 4-6+weeks to heal. As a mom with 3 kids and the youngest being 18 months I need to heal as quick as possible. That's when my friend suggested this place. I walked in and was greeted by a very nice receptionist. I was then taken back where there was a massage chair, smooth sounds and serene images on the tv. I felt like I was in a spa and not an office. I met with Edison whom asked me some questions and what issues I was having. While he was doing the acupuncture part he would ask some questions like "are you sleeping ok at night?" With 3 kids that is a no, so he put some acupuncture on my wrist and hand to help with it. Afterwards he let me relax there for about 30-40 mins and then came back asked how I was feeling and began to remove the needles. I have been a member at this location for about a month now. I am currently in a mode where I desire to do everything I can to eliminate most stress from my life. And getting a handle on that day by day has been a God send! Acupuncture has always been on my bucket list of sorts as something I have wanted to try. Plus this location is right next door to my massage therapist so I figured hey why not. I made the appointment and they brought me back into the 'Zen Den' where they sat me down in a heated massage chair and I was able to watch relaxing nature videos while I did my therapy. The sessions are 30 minutes long and once the acupuncturist places the teeny tiny needles in you, you're good to go. I will tell you what, for the most part you do not feel the needles at all. It was funny because once Maria started talking to me, I didn't even notice she had about 5 needles in me! I did not feel them. AT ALL. The first time is amazing. Your body automatically goes into ZEN mode and you fall right to sleep into an intoxicating nap. Great for pain relief, anxiety and stress. You can choose from different plans that work for you, and use your FSA benefits from work. I would say it is fairly affordable especially if you have FSA or HSA. Good atmosphere and nice staff. I can't speak to whether or not the acupuncture itself had any effect as it was my first visit but the overall experience, outside of being poked by needles, was very relaxing. They have oversized heated massage recliners in a room with mood lighting and soft music. It's different than a more traditional acupuncture place where they lay you out on a massage table in a private room. Here you're sharing space with other people. It's not weird though -- frankly, no one is paying attention to you because they're passed out, lol. The girl at the front desk was incredibly sweet. She threw in a cosmetic session on the house since it was my first visit, so ask about it if you're a first-timer and interested, and she had a yummy oolong tea ready to go on my way out. I was informed since my license was still out of state (I am 31 days on a wait list for a new license) that I could not benefit fro the special into pricing. I have enjoyed and utilized acupuncture /massage and chiropractic for years... and found this ridiculous. An intro special is an intro special... I offered to give my "new local address" . Nope this wasn't good enough- they gave me the choice of cancelling at this time. Firstly... My wife and I are on a fixed income as I'm a 100% service connected disabled veteran and my wife is also 100% disabled on fixed income. My wife was a monthly member at Modern Acupuncture for nearly 2 years in Las Colinas - Things were great for awhile... Then there were billing snafu's and I eventually ended up being billed over $1,200.00 in fees for services that were not rendered. In my case my wife had a monthly reoccuring payment fail in December of 2020 so I received a call at home from the Modern Acupuncture office asking if I had alternate billing information that could be used for a one time monthly fee that had failed to debit on my wifes account. I gave the lady my credit card # over the phone for a one time charge and didn't think about it again until November 2021 when I realized they continued to bill me $199.00 every month afterwards as if I were on a monthly membership (mind you I've never gone and used the services). At the beginning of May 2021 I called the local office to inform them that my wife would be cancelling her subscription/membership and was told that the payment for the month had just been paid a day or two prior so that I wise as well use the services for the remainder of the month since it was paid for. This seemed like a good idea so my wife went once or twice more before the end of the month and before the month was finished I called and informed the location we wished to discontinue monthly billing and services. We were told to go into the local office and fill out some paperwork. Sometime during the last week of the month my wife and I went to Modern Acupuncture and my wife was told she had to complete some information on an IPAD some app that was necessary to end her membership. My wife wasn't wearing her glasses that day and the lady behind the counter offered to help her get the process completed and "drove on the ipad" while my wife answered questions and awknowledged the specifics as the employee helped her complete the cancellation. When it came time to submit the data (and the end of the process) the app displayed some sort of upload error and the employee assured us that at the end of the day she would ensure that all the information was captured and submitted for her cancellation "not to worry". In November this year I noticed that I continued to be billed $199.00 every month from January all the way through present November. We were under the impression we were cancelled having paid May 2020 bill and were thusly entitled to services in June 2020 to which I believe one of the last days my wife attended (after weekly regular visits for a year or two prior) was middle of June 2020. After which she never again used the services (we had cancelled). When I noticed the billing issue and contacted the location I was suddenly chasing my tail and being given the run around. I was assured the matter had been escalated to management but would not recieve return calls, after several attempts at follow up I wrote the main Franchise HQ in AZ to escalate my complaint. I finally received a call from the front office employee who I felt had me chasing my tail and side talking me until frustration would win out and I'd persue other options. I've never signed any sort of monthly reoccuring agreement with Modern Accupuncture that permitted them to take payments on a monthly basis out of the account # I had given them for a "one time charge", those moneys come from a different set of funds and are in my name only and I'm not a customer of Modern Acupuncture. I did not authorize the charges from January through November 2021 but as my wife had attended on occasion during the January through June time period I didn't make a big fuss about thoe "unauthorized" charges. After the hours of effort and energy I've had to invest to try and get resolution (matter has still not been resolved) I finally out of exasperation filed a dispute with my Credit Card Company for services not rendered, am leaving this review, and will also file with Better Business Bureau. The services that were rendered when my wife was using the service were helpful and we felt that it was a good value for the $$$ - not any complaints there. Where we are very disappointed and dissatisfied is in the billing failures, lack of communication, and general customer service when we did have an issue that seemed like it should have been a fairly easy fix. I felt it was more than fair that I didnt dispute the charges from February 2020 through May 2020 because we hadn't technically cancelled at that point even though unknown to me the funds were being paid from a different account without a reoccuring billing agreement in place. The lady I spoke with on the phone in January 2020 specifically told me "1 time payment" as the automatic payment didn't debit from the original account that month. I have had severe back pain in my lower back for over five years. I've tried everything and I will say that I found the treatment at modern acupuncture to work significantly better than almost anything else I've tried. Additionally it's much less invasive than taking over-the-counter pain medication all the time or just living in agony. After a single treatment my back pain went away for the most part which was almost debilitating. I Purchased 10 sessions and I'm going to keep going back for a while to continue treatments because I haven't felt this good in over five years. I was searching for acupuncture for the last 3 months, but all the prices were so high. I went to Groupon and would have to travel all over Dallas to get a reasonable price. I've been a nurse for 40 years and met a number of doctors and have seen many medical facilities. I have been dealing with stage IV bone metasteses. I've been to Modern Acupuncture 10 times, because I found very good pricing packages. I assumed that the people were inexperienced students just out of school, but when I met Dr. Kayla and Maria and I saw their extensive education and experience, I was blown away. I was also expecting a typical office with white sterile walls, a bed with paper on it and being left alone for 30 minutes. Instead they open a door and there is an incredible calm. You sit in a leather chair that has heat and vibrates. There are massive screen TVs with scenery. Just walking in made me feel better unlike the other places. They come to you and ask about your issues. Because I have an extensive medical history they never rushed me. They spent time with me. They put the needles in and you fall asleep for 30-40 minutes. Then they come back, never rushing you, asking you how you feel and give you some follow up advice. She recommended a treatment especially for my white blood cell count that I could follow up on outside of the session. I know it's a business, but they really care. They have given someone like me the means to afford this type of care every day in my journey. I don't know how my journey will end but I am glad Modern Acupuncture is a part of it. I can't say enough great things about Heather (their receptionist), who greets you with a big smile and sweet hello, to the acupuncturists; Marie, Meredith, John, and Dr. Bianca. I was skeptical going in but they have you watch a short video on the process and expected results. My first session was free. The acupuncturist walked me out and recommended to reception that I come back three times a week for six weeks (they do this for all free session clients). Of course to do this meant signing up for the platinum package which states it includes unlimited monthly sessions. I purchased but still being skeptical, I immediately cancelled my contract as they require a 30 day cancellation. This gave me unlimited for the first month and two sessions the second/last month. I didn't even bother going the last month after they repeatedly turned me away during my first month (after about six sessions) with a different excuse each time. "Acupuncturist is out to lunch" was a common excuse, and happened at 2:40pm one day and 4pm the next. They also told me the appointments were full once and when the door opened I saw 9 of 10 chairs empty. Interestingly the receptionist always looked up my account before telling me I would have to return in an hour. You put the pieces together. I love running and it kills my hip. I have tried Arrosti (ouch) and get regular massages to treat the pain. Yoga helps but I have the most improvement after a session at Modern Accupuncture. After a 30 minute session in the relaxing treatment room my hip pain is 75% improved. When I go regularly, I avoid the pain all together.
