I called three companies that the cemetery recommended and Bountiful Memorial was one of them. They quoted me a little more than the others, so we decided to go with one of the cheaper companies in Sandy. When we met with them though and they drew up the design we wanted, they told us that they were extremely busy and that we would be lucky to have it installed before Memorial Day, which was over 10 months away (this was July). I know that they are owned by Larkin and I'm sure that factored into the time since they are a big business, which didn't surprise me after walking around their huge lot with hundreds of headstones they were working on. We were shocked that it was going to take that long, but decided to go ahead and order it anyway. They said they would email us the paperwork to sign and then we could put a deposit down and they would start the process and get the stone ordered. When I didn't hear back from them after that for over a week (they messed up my email address apparently), I was frustrated and figured it must be a sign. So I stopped by Bountiful Memorial one afternoon, since I drive by there all the time anyway. As I was wondering around the small property looking at the granite stones, Robert (who I found out is the owner) came out and started talking to me. I asked him a few questions and then I told him that we had actually decided to go with another company because they were cheaper. He asked me what they quoted me and I told him and showed him the design. He pointed out several things to me and told me that not using a granite base was risky since it can crack after a few years since the ground settles, and that it's worth paying a little more upfront to save money later. I've had some friends that this has happened to, so it really made sense to me. The other place was also charging me for things that Robert said they include for no charge as well. In looking at his designs and the work they do it was hands down more beautiful and higher quality, and you could tell that they really take pride in what they do. He gave me a few suggestions and showed me a few that he was working on to give me an idea of what was possible. I felt so good about Bountiful Memorial after talking with him that I gave him a down payment right then and told him that we wanted him to make the headstone for us. I was so grateful that things didn't work out with the first company we were going to go with! Robert did say that it could take up to 7 or 8 months for it to be installed (instead of the 10 or 11 from the first company), which was fine. I stopped by a few times after that to look at the other headstones and find out when our stone would arrive and each time the owner and his sons were so nice and helpful. They've been in business as a family for over 70 years and you can really tell by the craftsmanship and quality, and they take so much pride in their work. Whenever we would walk through the cemetery over the last several months we paid attention to all of the headstones. We could always tell who had their headstones made from Bountiful Memorial. The quality is unmatched! The temple carvings especially are so much better than anyone else's and they really stand out. We were surprised to hear from them after 3 1/2 months that our stone had been delivered to them and we could come in and finalize the design before they started working on it. We met with them and went over exactly what we wanted and were so confident that they would do a great job. They also told us that they could install it before Christmas so that we could surprise our daughter who was home from college. They worked hard on it, and true to their word it was installed a few weeks later, several weeks before Christmas. We are beyond thrilled with the quality of the headstone, and are so grateful that we ultimately chose Bountiful Memorial Art!! During such a painful and difficult time as having to purchase a headstone for a child, they were beyond helpful. We now have a headstone that is so much nicer that we ever imagined, and that will last and that our family will appreciate forever.

On the one hand, if you want a local company to handle things for you and you want one of the…read morebiggest little companies around in the sign and banner and display marketing biz, you've got the right folks. But the bigness of the company almost works against them. One of the reasons I often choose local companies is because of the kind of service and attention I get. When you order with them, there's a real push to do it online. That's great if you know what you need and what you're doing, but for someone who doesn't have this stuff made every couple of months it could be difficult and you may find the service at a smaller shop to be more up your alley. In a world where online printing companies are now super, super, UBER cheap it's often going to be more affordable to just send it off to Texas or California, even with shipping. I mean, if I'm submitting it all online anyway it becomes a pure price game. The good news is that they are local and real people do work there, so you can work a little closer with them if you need to. They've been around a long time and can handle just about any size project. And it's not just banners--they do tablecloths, car wraps, stand up banners, window banners (decals? wraps?) and a whole host of other promotional or products. Give the website a whirl if you're curious, but realize that if you're going to get a banner or project done just online, you can do a little research and save some money. Hopefully they'll be willing to walk you through it if you go in or pick up the phone.

A Google search led me to Sugar House which had the largest selection of banner fabrics and stands, I designed what at that time was an awesome piece, they did a beautiful job of printing it, it arrived in plenty of time for my next event, and the durable banner and stand continue to serve me well. Their after-sale service was incredible - I received several emails asking if everything was to my satisfaction and requesting a photo of my banner in action. This photo is still on their website! They're not the cheapest, but you can't beat their quality, selection and service. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them for full-service banner work.

We genuinely wanted to support this business, which is why this experience has been so disappointing. The first issue was with my wedding band. We were repeatedly promised it would arrive before our wedding, but it didn't. After being reassured multiple times that it would be here in time, it didn't arrive until after we returned from our honeymoon. While frustrating, we moved past it. The bigger disappointment has been my husband's wedding band. Before purchasing it, we specifically told Amy that durability was our biggest concern. We wanted a ring that would hold up to everyday wear, and we were assured this was a great choice, especially for the price ($500). We were even told it was durable enough that wearing it to the gym wouldn't be an issue. Within the first week, it was already scratched. After only six months of marriage, I reached out. The ring looked so worn that even the owner reached out and told us she was disappointed with how it had held up. We were told to come in and choose a different ring. When we arrived, however, Amy explained that our only options were to downgrade to a less expensive ring, purchase gold, or reorder the exact same ring. Since this was his actual wedding band and it carries so much sentimental value, we chose to reorder the same style. We were told it would take about two weeks and that it would be overnighted back to us. Two weeks passed with no update. I had to reach out myself, only to learn it had been backordered for several more weeks. No one contacted us to let us know about the delay. Although we brought the original ring in back in February, the replacement wasn't ready until May. After finally getting it back, my husband has only worn it during normal everyday life and work (he hasn't worn it to the gym this time.) Yet it is already scratched again and already looks worn after such a short time. We haven't even been married a year, and we've already gone through one replacement ring. That's incredibly frustrating for something that's supposed to last a lifetime. We also weren't offered a refund when I asked about it. Our only options were to downgrade to a less expensive ring, pay to upgrade or reorder the exact same ring that had already failed us. That didn't feel like much of a solution. The fact that a $25 Amazon ring has held up significantly better than a $500 wedding band says everything. What makes this so frustrating is that we weren't just first-time customers. We trusted this jeweler with one of the biggest purchases of our lives, continued purchasing jewelry here, and confidently referred family because we believed in the business. Instead, we've been left disappointed by the quality of the product, the repeated delays, the lack of communication, and the lack of a meaningful resolution.
