She got so defensive and said I'm so busy just find somebody else to do it. And hang upnon me so she doesnt listen to what I have to say . I dont usually write review. I always left a message at reception. Bot sure if she gets it or not. They always say shes always in meeting and dont return call. Sooo hard to reach like literally need to beg her. Very Bad service. I have been relying on Jane Burns for years for accounting help, and have raved about her services to many many people over those years. I know first-hand how seriously concerned a working professional of Jane's integrity is, to keep the firm answerable to her own name's imprimatur for quality. I can only testify that her calm, kindness and capability have been an indispensable comfort to someone like me, who has no aptitude for keeping my records straight in proper conformation to the rules and regulations of two countries at once, even after I look up every possibly online resource. I couldn't be more grateful for her skills and cooperative performance over the years-- I'm 73 years old and have had to travel a great deal-- so I'm comparing her record to that of many other accounting firms-- she's one of the top two I have EVER worked with--out of many internationally distinguished firms.

Not having used them before, I emailed someone named Brenda at Pain Free Tax, asking if she had a…read morePTIN number(needed for anyone being paid to do cross-border taxes) and any other credentials that would allow me to feel safer sending past tax returns to a complete stranger, since they would include my social insurance number, social security number and much more in the way of sensitive personal information. She assured me she had a PTIN, and asked if a video meeting would reassure me(I live in a different province). I reiterated that the credentials would help me to go forward, in a friendly manner, as I felt a bit uncomfortable asking. This is what she emailed me back(draw your own conclusions - it certainly told me enough): "Good Day Audrey, I cannot  provide you with my PTIN number via email- It is like your tax data- confidential information. You seem to have significant hesitancy around this process. At this point we have decided to decline to provide tax services for you." So I took them to one of those tax places that are in malls. Because I had been audited the year before they audited me again. They wanted to see all my tax receipts. So I sent in everything I had. The amount I claimed and the amount I had receipts for didn't match. I knew I had given the receipts to the tax people. They denied having the receipts. So again I ended up paying more plus a fine. Ten months later I received the receipts from this firm apologizing for overlooking returning them to me. THAT is when I started to use Murray Wiseman. He has been doing my taxes for the past six years and I have never had a problem with the tax people. I feel secure in knowing that they are done properly and quickly. For those who don't know you can claim part of the fee as a deduction on your next years taxes. I HIGHLY recommend Mr. Wiseman's firm. This solicitor, whilst acting for me in a simple purchase of an mobile home gave me inaccurate…read moreadvice re "chances of being sued" if I "failed to Complete"..even to "being sued in Europe" all nonsense.. I had found faults and electrical concerns and alerted him, showing this solicitor hastily taken photos of such. Then my Realtor went absent for a week! He had recommended Mr Hicks for the conveyance, both evaded my personal appeal for help to avoid Completing on purchase (due 7 days later) in July 2009. I could have walked-away from the Purchase, it later transpired. It proved to be via a very negligent illegal MLS Realtor & Listing, after the event! The Vendor was fraudulent and had schemed/lied..2 Realtors did not check CSA illegal fire status of property, nor did this Solicitor. The RECBC concurred with 'the facts' of this very illegal MLS listing by 2011. I wrote to the Law Society, they disregarded my letter. His lack of respect for me as a worried client in 2009 resulted in a loss over $ 50.000 and much pain (as a recent widow)..and in a larger miscarriage of Justice, which I have been unable to raise funds to 'fight' due to loss of home, exhaustion and mental anguish. I lost all my funds through his inaccurate and disengenous advice. I cannot afford fees for a 'new solicitor' to seek compensation. A later Solicitor advised I have a "good case" and commenced action letters.. now I have no funds to pay a solicitor to take my claim further, against Realtors & home inspector (re: lack of due diligence) to Court in BC. Pro bono has proved hard to find in reality! All in all a horrible sequence of events; as a man he was disingenuous before and after the event..

After going last year, being promised a price for myself and my child whom would be a simple entry- I was charged much more. Things that I have always used and applied to my taxes they wouldn't. I was charged much more than promised. Missing signed forms, and a few other issues. Unprofessional conversations while I was in there. Sadly I would not recommend focus tax under the new ownership. I rather pay a little more and get exceptional service and accuracy. Family and friends have reported the same and have had major mistakes made last year.
