She assured me she had a PTIN, and asked if a video meeting would reassure me(I live in a different province). I reiterated that the credentials would help me to go forward, in a friendly manner, as I felt a bit uncomfortable asking. This is what she emailed me back(draw your own conclusions - it certainly told me enough): "Good Day Audrey, I cannot  provide you with my PTIN number via email- It is like your tax data- confidential information. You seem to have significant hesitancy around this process. At this point we have decided to decline to provide tax services for you." I was able to courier my documents to the office, and when the taxes were done I was able to sign on line from home and to pay electronically. If you use them for PAYROLL SERVICES you should read this as it may affect your business:…read more We used H&R Block for payroll services and identified what appears to be a significant vacation payroll calculation issue affecting our account that may have persisted for approximately 15 years (after 5 years of employment in BC, vacation pay increases to 6%). After discovering the issue, we escalated it through both the local office and district management (Jeffrey Zhang) and requested a formal corporate review on why they had not adjusted this. While the matter was acknowledged and I was informed that legal had been consulted, I did not receive an explanation of how the issue occurred, why it went undetected by their Master Tax Professionals for such an extended period, or what internal review processes were undertaken. Despite repeated requests for escalation and clarification, the matter was not progressed to a documented corporate review, nor were the underlying concerns directly addressed. At this stage, my concern is not only the financial correction itself, but the lack of transparency, escalation, and meaningful investigation into a long-standing payroll discrepancy within a professional services context.

I have noticed that the price they charge keeps going up and this year it nearly doubled. Not worth it for me to return as I have checked the fee at other accounting firms and found several that are more reasonable. For years I did my own taxes. Then I took them to a woman who did them privately. She screwed them…read moreup and I ended up having to pay plus a fine. So I took them to one of those tax places that are in malls. Because I had been audited the year before they audited me again. They wanted to see all my tax receipts. So I sent in everything I had. The amount I claimed and the amount I had receipts for didn't match. I knew I had given the receipts to the tax people. They denied having the receipts. So again I ended up paying more plus a fine. Ten months later I received the receipts from this firm apologizing for overlooking returning them to me. THAT is when I started to use Murray Wiseman. He has been doing my taxes for the past six years and I have never had a problem with the tax people. I feel secure in knowing that they are done properly and quickly.
