I wanted to wait to write a review, just to see how my phone would hold up. I came into the store a week ago to get a battery replacement (iPhone 6s Plus), not knowing what to expect. Crane, who was the only one there at the store, seemed to be working on a lot of projects, but put it all on hold to help me out! The entire service had to have taken less than 20 minutes. He was super friendly and knowledgeable and even replaced my screen protector at no cost. Even though the service was probably one of the priciest in Tallahassee, it was worth it because I knew my phone was in good hands. So, I dropped my phone a week ago, and it suddenly could no longer use my mobile network - I couldn't send calls, texts, or use the internet outside of wi-fi. After agonizing over it for a week, I finally decided to get it fixed. I called around to a couple places, and they were reluctant to give me an estimate, didn't really seem to know what they were talking about. I called Modern Communications, and I could tell he knew what he was doing. He was available to help, and even gave me a very reasonable estimate over the phone. This was an excellent experience for me. I was nervous about leaving my phone, or having to wait hours, or not getting it fixed at all! Luckily it wasn't very busy today, and he was able to get started right away. I was able to watch him work, so I felt very comfortable with him working on my phone. We chatted and had a delightful conversation, while he ran through what the problems could be and opened up my phone. As I thought, he definitely knew what he was doing and was very skilled. In the end, he not only fixed my phone, but because it was a simple fix he charged me a very fair price. I would have just given him the money even if he hadn't asked for it, he did a great job! I used Yelp to find this business, but I was a little leery due to the lack of reviews. Well, I've been there three or four times over that past year or more, and I'm not going to go anywhere else for phone repair. The owner of is friendly and professional, his prices are fantastic, and he never pushes unnecessary repairs or tries "salesman upselling" gimmicks. He does all the work himself (as far as I can tell), and nothing he has done for me has rebroken or failed. Also, there are great little touches that you don't get at bigger stores. For instance, if you buy a screen protector, he just slaps it on there without any extra charge. I always get nervous about doing it myself because if you put it on wrong or get a wrinkle, it can be ruined, so it's HUGELY appreciated. This guy needs way more 5-star reviews! read more

We went in to get our iPhones checked out and were fully prepared to pay for any repair that was diagnosed and we met Crane. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He took one look at the ports and luckily it wasn't anything but mere sludge he cleaned out and voila! He refused to charge us! The store is next to Victoria's Secret in The Centre. I went to Modern Communications last week to have my phone looked at after it had gotten a little wet and stopped working. I was told me to come on in and they would look at it for me at no charge. Other places wanted 44.95 just to look at it. It ended up only needing a little something to dry the charger port. It was much appreciated and good service. Would recommend. read more

This was by far the worst level of customer service I have experienced. The employee gave me a time frame to have my phone repaired, however, the employee left the building with my phone locked up without finishing the repair as was quoted to me. As I use this phone for business, this was not only inconvenient, it was also costly. I returned the next day and found the same employee who was very apologetic and she appeared to genuinely want to resolve the situation. After being given the managers phone number, I spoke with the manager- Mr. Crane- that same day. He was the opposite of his employee and seemed upset I had contacted him regarding any issue at all. In short, he asked me what he wanted me to do with a very arrogant and condescending tone without offering up any resolution for my inconvenience. When I offered examples of how he may look to resolve this customer service issue (such as speedy service or discounted price) he refused, saying "I'm not giving you anything." I try to support small businesses as opposed to franchises and corporations, but with this blatant disregard for customer satisfaction combined with the arrogant dismissiveness of the manager, Mr. Crane, I refuse to return to this business. If you want professionalism, reliability and a customer-centered approach, this is not the place to go. I suggest you look elsewhere for your phone needs. read more
