This is the coolest icecream shop I've ever been in and I'm so happy it's so close to my house! You can get icecream "nachos" or an ice cream sandwich in a hot cookie, milkshakes with candy blended in, parfaits and really anything you could imagine. I wish I would have taken a picture of my nachos-- but it was the large (feeds 2-4 people) and I had "Michigan pot hole" icecream and "Eskimo kisses" with hot fudge and caramel, Reese's, snickers and heath bar. There were so many choices I had such a hard time choosing what I wanted!! I settled on a Stacker and got The munchies one with bacon, potato chips, pretzels, and Nutella! It was so good!!! I loved the ice cream at this place, until my last visit and they left a bad taste in my mouth. Some people and companies are handling this pandemic and the recovery as it they should, while some are not. During the stay at home order, the store only allowed for one patron at a time in, which was amazing!! Thank you, Modern Cone! Now that the order has been lifted, people have gone all willy-nilly and act as if nothing ever happened. A friend had never been to Modern and wanted to try it. I, of course, couldn't say no after all, did I mention they have great ice cream?! Anyways, we walk up to the store front and notice it's packed. Like a line nearly out the door, packed! Of course my friend and I had our masks on and were prepared, especially being that it's a small shop. First thing I noticed is there there were only a select few wearing masks and none of those few were staff. Ok, I'm not sure if Modern is aware of how this virus spreads, but with your employees talking while ice cream is in their hands or while a case is open, is never a good idea. If the employees at McDonald's can wear masks, there's no reason and ice cream shop can't. I immediately wanted to walk out. I was crawling out of my skin with all the people in there! My friend and I were behind this family, who of course, we're not wearing masks. This man from said family was leaning on the display case of ice cream and coughed onto it. Not once, not twice, but four times!! Then, he proceeded to wipe his nose with his hands. I. Wanted. To. Die. Of course nobody said anything to him, but I gave him a death stare the whole time. I'm sent the company a message asking if this was their practice during a pandemic and they blocked me. Never will they get my business, and they should get yours either. Ice cream shops are a dime a dozen in St. Clair Shores...I advise you to take a drive and go enjoy ice cream elsewhere. read more

Absolutely love the ice cream here. Unfortunately, they still allow customers to come in without wearing a mask if they have a "health condition" that prevents them from being able to wear one. In reality, if you're too sick to wear a mask, you are definitely too sick to go out for ice cream during a pandemic. Several of the employees had their masks on improperly...under their nose. I was told upon ordering that their menu closes at 8:45 due to the employees wanting to leave on time. If this is the case, they might as well change their close time from 9 to 8:45 PM. As someone who has worked in customer service for several years, this is definitely not how you treat your customers whether that be right when you open or before you close. Came here in hopes of a good experience, but turned out not being happy with the way that they are handling Covid, the three employees were not wearing gloves, and when they were scooping ice cream their hands were rubbing against the ice cream in the tub, also there was at least 20 people all standing cramped inside. People weren't wearing masks inside and the employees didn't care to say anything to them. I recently drove over 15 miles to try this place out. I am a big ice cream critic and was rather eager to taste what the hype is about. When I first walked in we got a not so excited hello. Instantly are you ready?? Well the board was pretty no very easy to read and no sure why. They have build ur own flights of 6 flavors of ice cream, which I tried. The ice cream would be better if it was more frozen in immediately was melting down the board. There were ice cream sandwiches and build your own nachos but who's payin 9$ for ice cream nachos??
