Do not manage patient expectations. Was stuck by needle 3 x before doctor got it right. This was traumatic.

I have needed two root canals and had symptoms for another that Dr Currie diagnosed as something else. He was right and I did not need a root canal on that tooth. He and the whole staff at St. Johns Endodontics have been 100% kind, careful, caring and super competent! By far the best people I have ever had work in my mouth! I am 66 and retired after running a very large business that was focused on customer service across 2000 employees so I know what I'm talking about when I see great customer service like I've experienced with Dr Currie and St. Johns Endodontics!! And the building is beautiful inside with indirect lighting - great music - and wonderful art including some calming art on the monitors above your head while having a procedure done - first class all the way! I can't imagine going anywhere else for a consultation about a root canal

The woman I spoke with insisted that it is their protocol to have a new CT scan done in new x-rays. You've got to be kidding me! In what world is that necessary? These new CT scan machines are the cats meow to the company that designed them and sells them and the doctors that buy them pay a pretty penny for him so I'm sure they want to pay for them. But not on me thank you very much that increased risk and unnecessary need. I'm kind of glad it went that way because I disagreed with getting two more root canals and all the expense that was going to go into my mouth when it made more sense to do two extractions and one bone graph and implant for the same price of a bunch of nonsense that would've hurt me in the long run. Every tooth I have ever lost came from having a root canal that weakened the tooth and ultimately required it to be extracted. Root canals are bad for you. Avoid them at every cost. I worked 20 years in the Dental field, and it was quite a while ago, but root canals are still done the same way, the risks are still the same. A lot of them are unnecessary and that hasn't changed either. Good luck to all of you but look at more updated repairs to your mouth.

Considering what a horrible procedure this can be, every step of the process was clearly explained to me, the pre and post care was excellent, and the procedure itself went as well as as I could have hoped. While I hope to never visit them again for the remainder of my days, if I ever have a similar need, they will be the first company I reach out to.

I have always taken very good care of my teeth & upon being able to finally get in with for a consultation, he did not see the tooth to be in need of same & referred me for dry needling shots as my insurance paid for it & assured me would resolve the issue. After several months of the treatments, I realized it was not fixing the problem at all. My immediate attempts to make an appt with Dr McClure (Lauren) were hopeless...Was advised would be 4 wks as 2 of his associates had left practice & he was short-staffed. Thank God I found Gerich Endodontists in Jacksonville who immediately started taking steps to resolve & save my tooth....CARING, PROFESSIONAL & SO DIFFERENT THAN ST.JOHNS ENDODONTISTS. Hide quoted text I am so glad I kept Dr. McClure's recap letter regarding his referral rather than treatment process in January. I have posted on every Social Media site in this avenue/areas of the dental/medical field. After working 35+ years in the Finance Corp Mgmt field & always having cleanings every 6 months, taking VERY good care of my teeth, I am surprised St. Johns Endodontists retains him as I am sure other individuals have been impacted by his lack of care for any patient. Referring a patient out for a questionable treatment does not resolve the root problem and shows the lack of integrity of St. Johns Endodontists overall by this Endodontist..... I have had so many people reach out to me since posting across my Social Media about Dr. McClure's uncaring, unprofessional nature, outrageous costs, postponed or erroneous information given to them, one even today that stated that once he found out she had no dental insurance her fees doubled, as well as the "consultation quote." What a shame St. Johns Endodontists would employ such an individual in the dental/medical avenues. His Corporate Staff/Mgmt appears to be taking action to make sure he is monitored more closely to prevent more damage to others affected by his actions. Deb Strickland

Dr. Mavec is a professional; nationally recognized and published. He served and has the title of Lt. as well, which is impressive in itself. The staff members are all friendly, honest and show a sense of compassion and genuine interest in you as a person. I did not feel like a "patient", but rather a friend coming to see some friends who are going to do a root canal haha. As a nurse, this is a cool feeling. The place is clean, high-tech and fully equipped for the ultimate patient satisfaction experience while in the chair. Dr. Mavec is knowledgeable, thorough and calming. He promotes relaxation in every way he can, and offers different ways to make the procedure less stressful. For example, there is a t.v on the ceiling to watch Netflix during your procedure if you so choose, you'll get headphones for sound so the drilling isn't AS bad as it usually is. Shades to keep the blinding light from intensifying the sensations and promoting a calm environment. My favorite? The warm blanket and the fact that the dentist chair warms up!! This releases the tension already present because you're at the Endodontist's and allows you to relax further. Dare I say I actually dozed off a little during my root canal: Yes I dare and I say! Thank you Dr. Mavec and staff for the best experience. I will highly recommend your services to colleagues, friends and my Yelp family!
