We have used Modern Heating and Cooling multiple times in the last 10 years and recently had a new A/C and Heating system installed at our daughters home, and had previously gotten a new system in our home. Needing a new furnace and A/C, I took one week to get estimates from 6 different local companies. Jason was the last one to cone out and he was the one I went with. He is a technician, not a sales person like most of the other companies. Therefore, he know what he was talking about as far as what equipment I needed, and why. He was very personable, polite, and an asset to the company. I decided on Modern and scheduling was only a few weeks out. On the appointed day, Jim and Dave showed up on time, and worked all day to get everything installed. They were polite, prompt and obviously knowledgeable. All went without a hitch and they removed the old furnace and AC and cleaned up everything before they left. I certainly chose the right company, I could not be more pleased with them and how flawlessly everything went. Their price was the best around for the very same products other companies quoted considerably more for. Please shop around and do your research before you make this considerable purchase. The only reason I give this company 1/5 stars is because of the technicians who installed the new AC unit. I spent an entire summer explaining to the owner how the new unit was worse than the one we had to replace, and their only concern was getting paid. I was actually told that I was lying when I told them it was not working and that they would come by our home to pickup a check. After several failed attempts to figure out the problem and them telling me everything was working, I had another company come and figure out the problem in about 30 mins (problem was with the condenser). Dec 23, 2016 Never buy from this company. In 2010 we purchased a new high efficiency furnace from them at over $5,000.00. They gave us a 10 year warranty on parts and 1 year on labor. I change the filters religiously and keep the furnace clean. In six years I have had them out for furnace repairs more than 12 times. A few times I had to pay for the parts because they claimed the "zone" controls even though installed by them were not covered by the 10 year furnace warranty. I got so sick of having a non working furnace and constantly having them out for repairs I asked them to replace it and they said the manufacturer declined to do that. It was out again a few days ago and I called them that evening and left a message. Next morning I called and was told they would not be out until late in the day I reminded the woman on the phone how cold it was outside and we had no heat, she didn't seem to care. Later that morning Frank over there called and told me my part warranty was only 5 years so I would have to pay for any parts needed and they couldn't come out until sometime late in the day. I told him that wasn't good enough, that I called yesterday and this morning and I have been without a working furnace for all night and this morning in this 10 degree weather. I also told him my paperwork from them shows a 10 year part warranty then he said, "that's news to me I'll have to look into that" with an attitude. I told him I had a serviceman from another company at my home now and he had just fixed the furnace so he would not have to come out. He replied, "you should feel free to call them the next time you have a problem" again with a snotty smart alec attitude. Worst service from this company you could possibly imagine. I even told the owner I feel I got screwed on this furnace all he did was get angry and disrespectful. Never call this company. If it weren't so much trouble I would sue them. read more
