Good Afternoon! - I'm what they call a "Half Back" - We moved back up North from Florida; - So -…read moreObviously, I've been anxious about finding an "Appropriate Barber" who could live up to "Mike" - My Bukharian Master Barber in New York - "Mike" - I think it is safe to report that "Brian L." has lived up to and in many regards raised the bar. My review is based on my visit - Friday afternoon - 5 April 2024. Don't be a fool - This place gets busy for good reason; - Caliber's is "Classy" and employs only Quality and Skilled Barbers; They offer an array of Men's Grooming Services - which I'm looking forward to trialing in the next few months. I was extremely impressed by the professionalism and efficiency of scheduling my service. I spoke with "Genevieve" - She was extremely patient and courteous, I had to move my appointment around a bit. Upon arrival at my visit, I was offered a cold and refreshing beverage of my choice and they have an incredibly comfortable seating area to relax. The entire experience is catered to the Customer and you start to feel comfortable and relaxed - the moment you walk through the door. This Barber Shop is clean, spacious and shouts an old school vibe; - Just a very classy place. Parking "Could" be a bit of a challenge; - But, just relax - I promise you that you will find something. Worst case scenario, they have some paid options with minimal cost and/or you can find something on the street. This is really a hopping neighborhood! This wouldn't be a "Proper" review if I didn't take a minute to talk about the "Star of my Experience" - Master Barber "Brian L." - I'm not sure if I was a Customer / Client and/or Patient - But, "Brian" was just a star; - I have to confess - I cheated, "Brian" received tremendously exceptional feedback about his personality, service delivery and Master Barbering Skills from my boy "Mark" - who stumbled upon him - on his quest to find the perfect haircut and shave. I went with the Full Service Haircut; - I really wanted to get a Shave as well - But, I arrived with "Insufficient Beard" for that! - Anyways - Lavender infused Hot Towel send me into Nirvana; Brian shaved my neck perfectly. Overall - the entire experience was pampering and relaxing - every aspect of it. Let me wrap it up, I'm happy to report - I found my Barber in Charlotte - "Brian L." - I also found my Barber Shop. A+ / 5 Stars / Cinco Estrellas! ;-)

It had been 11 weeks since my last haircut and absolutely nothing had been done to the mop on top of my head in that time. It was brutal. It's important to mention that yes, I did wear a mask and wash my hands upon arriving as required. And my stylist (Mallory) wore a mask during the entire appointment as well. They've done some rearranging and spaced out the chairs to accommodate distancing and blow drying/hand details aren't currently offered either. Considering it was almost 3 months since my last haircut these minor inconveniences didn't bother me at all. Mallory was ready for my right at my scheduled time. Aside from the few changes already mentioned it was like nothing had changed (except the few jokes made at my hair's expense when I first sat down!). Got my shampoo, a perfect cut, and condition then happily bought a bunch of products that I was running low on when it was time to check out. Scheduled my appointment for next month and was on my way. I also want to point out that these businesses have been shut down for months and in order to reopen were given an entirely new business model that they had to abide by. Employees have been out of work for over 2 months. No one asked for this, but they are learning on the fly and doing what they can to make sure the customer has the best experience while they figure it out. If you can't handle that it might be better to buy a Flowbee and continue staying home for the next few months. I chose to happily sit back down in Mallory's chair and enjoy another top notch haircut. Thanks EJ staff, see you next month.

Had a great haircut experience here!…read more As someone who is typically a frequent visitor of Great Clips, one day I decided that it might be worth making the effort to grow up and get an actual haircut, so I booked an appointment at Shear Excellence and headed down to the most convenient location for me -- located right in South Park. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted very warmly, and offered a drink before being seated with my stylist. I went for a neat bourbon, as it seemed fitting that a grown-up drink should accompany a grown-up haircut. Sydney was my stylist, and did a great job. As someone who frequents Great Clips, I had no idea what to do with my hair and she patiently walked me through some options for styling, showing me everything she did and how I could do it at home (or at least attempt to replicate it, I'm proud to say it's at least pretty close). It was then followed by a head-massage, straight razor neck shave and shampoo -- an incredibly relaxing experience! The only downside to a salon like this is the price (you're in for around $55 after a 20% tip), which for men is likely on the high-side for what you would expect, but you're also not likely used to a free drink, shampoo, massage, and incredible haircut! Overall, Shear Excellence is an experience and one worth checking out. I even received in the mail a note from my stylist and $5 coupon toward my next haircut, talk about service!

Super easy to book appointments on their website... but this last visit it seems like the appointments did not open until the "day of"... they may be tweaking their booking system, but if you wanted to book something days in advance (like I was) it was difficult. I've been going to see Emily who takes care of the cut pretty well. There have been some times where she gets super backed up so I wait - even when presented the option to have someone else (that is free) to do my hair. My problem is that I am getting older and I just really like sticking to the "plan" and not having to explain my haircut a million times to new people. Also a problem when getting older, I like convenience so this place is not that far from me. It has a parking deck (CLUTCH) and is super easy for me to get seen here. Staff keep this place (like other Shears) clean and enjoyable to visit.

From what I overheard, another stylist mentioned that Dani was late and had said she was "walking in the door ," per this stylist and Dani's text messaging, but that was already 10 minutes earlier. So she lied. She finally arrived around 3:45 PM, outside talking to someone, then walked in with her teenage son appearing completely unconcerned about being late. There was no apology, acknowledgment, or professionalism whatsoever. She came in sighing heavily and acting like it was no big deal, despite the salon being packed with customers. At that point, we decided to leave. She tried to come after us, but honestly, I didn't want to risk another bad experience. About four weeks ago, my son received an uneven haircut at a high-end shop and he's been counting down the days to get it fixed. First impressions matter, and the overall appearance, attitude, and lack of communication did not inspire confidence. The salon itself was extremely busy, which makes the lack of professionalism even worse. Customers deserve communication, respect, and accountability when their time is being wasted.

When the barber was trimming my neck they were doing so careless less and caught my shirt a few times. They then said my haircut was done without asking if I liked it and didn't even show me the back of my head. I had to then ask for some changes as my hair was inconsistent and puffy. I could tell the person did not want to do any re-work as anything I asked for would be done with in two seconds. It just felt that they wanted to rush me out. My haircut was done within 20 minutes.
